Sexuality and Life

Building on the work you have already done for this class, you will craft a final paper that explores one of the assigned readings with some more nuance and depth, and then moves to some related original research centered around an issue of personal interest to you.You are already reading and writing quite a bit each week; so pick something you wanted to go back to (or look ahead at something that sounds interesting) and expand on what you’ve already started. This part of the paper shouldn’t be too hard– just to return in a disciplined way and deepen what you started for a regular weekly discussion board. Then, for your own research: you can stick with historical topics and use digitized archive collections as your evidence (or if you happen to possess an archive of your own, you can use that). Or, you could go in the direction of looking at our contemporary moment, and using a broad definition of “print” media look at how journalism, publishing, or book sellers are adapting to and coping with the current reality. This wouldn’t have to specifically be a “Covid-19” topic, however, it might be hard to avoid discussing the pandemic in any treatment of current print media and print culture.Part of the challenge will be to connect these together, but when you go through the process of posting a topic (and getting feedback, and seeing other topics) and then the drafts, you will have time to try out and develop an interesting overall argument.4-7 pages, double spaced.
