Electrolyte of your choice (Sodium, Potassium, Chloride, Magnesium, or Calcium)
You will choose a research study/article that is published on an Electrolyte of your choice (Sodium, Potassium, Chloride, Magnesium, or Calcium). You can use a study that discusses one or all of the electrolytes. For example, you may choose a study that examines the effects of a multi-ingredient Sports Drink on Hydration Status. You can choose any topic you want to write about for either of these electrolytes but you should only use one article/research study for this paper. Your goal is to summarize the paper: There is some excellent research on PubMed that will lead you to studies, especially looking at electrolytes and hydration and athletic performance. You can write about athletic performance or a medical based topic associated with these electrolytes (i.e. Sodium and Blood Pressure, Calcium and Bone Health, etc). Take the article review and summarize it into the following sections: Introduction Research Methods Results Discussion/Conclusion Reference Page: This should be separate from your text and not on the same page as your Discussion/Conclusion Separate each Section (Intro, Research Methods, Results, Discussion/Conclusion) with Headers in bold as this helps the reader identify which section they are reviewing as well as when a section ends and begins. I want you to write this like you are publishing this for others to read and not just me to grade as this helps with your preparation for those of you who will write in the future, especially for those who plan to publish a thesis or research. Review your grammar, punctuation, and word usage before submitting as Grammar is part of the rubric. Each semester, grammar can negatively impact your grade. I realize this is not an English class but that doesn’t mean you should take your writing for granted. Paper should be at least 2 pages of content and in APA format. You are not penalized if you go over.
