The content and character of news programming can have far-reaching political consequences. Using the text and module resources, discuss three kinds of media effects and give a detailed example of each. Is there any bias in the kinds of issues media choose to report? Read the article from Gallup included in this module. Could these effects on the politics of the day affect people’s attitudes toward the media? Explain.

Barring any content, spelling, or grammatical errors, students are eligible for a 100 if all discussion requirements are met. If students fail to comment on a classmate’s post, the highest grade for which the student is eligible is 79/C, as long as the response addressed the question in full. If the student completes the original post and comments on a classmate’s post but does not meet the required length, then the student is eligible for a B (89-80). Students that only respond to the initial question in fewer than 250 words without commenting on a classmate’s post are eligible for partial credit- D (69-60). Responding to the original prompt in a few sentences, without responding to a classmate’s post will result in a grade of F (59 or below). Follow directions, think critically, and do your best to write a thoughtful, in-depth discussion. If these are evident, then students will be awarded full credit.
