In this assignment, you will begin developing the curriculum for a course on the subject you selected last week. You will be following the ADDIE model to guide development of the course curriculum. The first step of the ADDIE model is analysis. In the analysis phase, instructional content is clarified, the instructional goals and objectives are established, and the learning environment and learner’s existing knowledge and skills are identified.
Write a 350- to 700-word paper in which you summarize the following course information:
- Course title
- Course level
- Problem identification, analysis, and rationale
- Learner population
- Who is the target learner population?
- What are their characteristics?
- How much do they know about the subject?
- Are they new hires, experienced employees, or a mix of the two?
- What is their education level?
- What demographic information is available about your audience? Think about their age, gender, education level, and computer literacy.
- What skills and knowledge do the learners bring with them to the course?
- What are their learning styles?
- Learning constraints
- What types of learning constraints exist?
- Is it an online or in-person course?
- Are there any limitations, such as class length or class size limitations?
Begin your analysis by researching the subject matter. What is the most up-to-date information regarding the subject matter?
Conduct a learning needs assessment. Write a summary of the learning needs assessment that includes the following:
- What does the learner already know regarding the subject matter?
- What do the learners need to know about the subject matter?
- Separate the need to know from the nice to know.
- Remember that a course has a finite amount of time to teach the learners and will not be able cover everything there is to know about the subject matter.
Based on the needs assessment, define 4 to 5 learning objectives for the course. The objectives should reflect the 4 or 5 most important things that the learners will need to know or do as a result of taking the course.
Write your objectives using the SMART goals criteria. Read “SMART criteria” in this week’s University Library Resources for a full explanation on what it entails. Use the domains of Bloom’s taxonomy that align to the course objectives.
Create a course content outline. You will do this by outlining the content that the leaner will need to understand to achieve each learning objective. For inspiration, you may wish to consult the sample outline under the APA Templates and Samples heading on the Center for Writing Excellence web site.
Cite a minimum of 4 peer-reviewed scholarly sources to support your assignment.
Format your assignment and references according to APA guidelines.
