Team Assignment: Address the following scenario including all the checklist items, and designate a person to submit the final team presentation response to the Unit 6 Dropbox. Scenario (fictional):
Artificial Intelligence Medical (i.e., AIM) Inc. is a very profitable new company that although in business just two years, has already doubled in size in terms of the workforce and quadrupled their profits. The CEO/founder has stepped aside recently in favor of a new CEO in the wake of employees’ frustration and social media messages about the benefits inequity and lack of motivation for teams at the company. The new CEO wants to change the way executive salaries are determined and find ways to motivate the project teams. The project teams typically are assigned to an artificial intelligence product such as a robot to perform routine surgeries or diagnostic software used by different medical units of a hospital for patient diagnosis.
Your employee team is tasked by the new CEO with determining a general proposed solution to the inequity in pay at the company and to address the lack of motivation for the 125 technicians and medical staff that work in project teams of 25 employees each. Each technician or staff member receives a salary of $35,000 per year while the CEO and V.P.s receive $500,000 per year (the CEO also holds 10% of the company stock) and the managers receive $50,000 per year. There is a CEO, 2 VPs (Manufacturing and Finance), a Marketing Manager, a Sales/Customer Service Manager, and a Technical Support Manager along with the 125 Technology-savvy employees that work at the company.

How Do We Create An Alignment Of Incentives That Creates The Best Possible Outcomes For The Provider, Supplier And The Patient?
Health insurance acts as a buffer between the consumer and cost of health care goods and services. Goods and services cost the consumer less than the charged price because of the presence of health insurance. Because a consumer does not pay the full cost of a good, the consumer may purchase more than goods than he would otherwise purchase without insurance. Providers act as patient’s agent and act in patient’s best interest. Providers may have a financial incentive to act or refrain from acting in a certain way due to insurance arrangements or the lack of insurance. Supplier-induced demand is the provider version of moral hazard. Providers create a demand beyond the amount the well-informed consumer would have chosen. How do we create an alignment of incentives that creates the best possible outcomes for the provider, supplier and the patient?

For the case study, we will focus on the importance of safety and all parties helping to make safety a priority. The effectiveness of the safety training will depend on how prepared the participants are for the training and their perception of the training.

1. Examine the components of an effective training needs analysis for this scenario. What would the basic parts for a successful training program be?
2. Describe how the training should be delivered, and briefly describe one motivational theory from those listed on pages 161–173 in the textbook and how it supports this type of training to enhance an organization’s performance.
