Spirituality and Social Work Practice

Spirituality and Social Work Practice

Being culturally sensitive by respecting your clients’ spirituality and religious traditions, in general, is an important professional competence (Furness & Gilligan, 2010). Applying your spiritual awareness to a specific client case, however, may require even greater skill. In this assignment, you consider how you might address a client’s crisis that includes a spiritual or religious component.

To prepare for this Assignment, review this week’s media about Eboni Logan’s visit with her school social worker.

Submit by TOMORROW 8PM NEW YORK TIME  2- to 4-page paper that answers the following questions:

  • As Eboni’s social worker, would you include spirituality and religion in your initial assessment? Why or why not?
  • What strategies can you use to ensure that your personal values will not influence your practice with Eboni?
  • How would you address the crisis that Eboni is experiencing?

Support your Assignment with specific references to the resources. Be sure to provide full APA citations for your references.

Reimbursement Debate

Ashford 3: – Week 2 – Discussion 1

Your initial discussion thread is due on Day 3 (Thursday) and you have until Day 7 (Monday) to respond to your classmates. Your grade will reflect both the quality of your initial post and the depth of your responses. Reference the Discussion Forum Grading Rubric for guidance on how your discussion will be evaluated.

Reimbursement   Debate

There are four specific reimbursement methods in our healthcare system. For this discussion, you will make your initial post on one of the four methods of reimbursement and will make responses to two of the other three methods of reimbursement posted by your classmates. The reimbursement method you will be discussing in your initial post depends on the first initial of your last name. See the table below, and then post an argument on your topic that explains why your method of reimbursement is the best method for the U.S. healthcare system. You and each of your classmates will also post rebuttals to one person from two of the other methods – staying focused on the argument for your specific reimbursement method. For help, review the Understanding Insurance Models game in the Chapter 3 Summary section of your textbook.

Students with last names starting with A–H are assigned to Method 1. Support fee-for-service throughout this discussion; submit rebuttals to two of the other Methods (2, 3, or 4).

Students with last names starting with I–M are assigned to Method 2. Support capitation throughout this discussion; submit rebuttals to two of the other Methods (1, 3, or 4).

Students with the last names starting with N–R are assigned to Method 3. Support pay-for-performance throughout this discussion; submit rebuttals to two other Methods (1, 2, or 4).

Students with the last names starting with S–Z are assigned to Method 4. Support the value-based model throughout this discussion; submit rebuttals to two other Methods (1, 2, or 3).

Your original post should be at least 250 words with at least two scholarly sources that support your view. Your rebuttals should be at least 150 words with at least one scholarly source supporting your rebuttal.

Example: You are assigned to Method 1— fee-for-service. Your original post discusses why the fee-for-service model is best for the U.S. healthcare system. Your response posts will refute two of the other methods on the other topics by stating why fee-for-service is better than capitation, pay-for-performance, or the value-based model. You need to include justification for your response.

Method 1: Fee-For-Service (last names A-H)
In your initial post:

  • Examine how this reimbursement model has positively      influenced the overall health care system.
  • Identify how this reimbursement model evolved as a solid      and crucial part of the health care system.
  • Determine how this reimbursement model has positively      influenced cost, quality, and access of care.

Guided Response: Review at least two of the other methods posted by your classmates. Respond to at least two of your classmates who have posted an argument for two of the other methods. In your responses,:

  • Examine how your classmates’ model has a more negative      influence on the health care system than the other models.
  • Identify how your classmates’ model has a weaker      foundation for being part of the health care system (i.e., historical      value of yours vs. theirs).
  • Determine how your classmates’ model has negatively      influenced cost, quality, and access of care in comparison to your model.

Method 2: Capitation (last names I-M)
In your initial post:

  • Examine how this reimbursement model has positively      influenced the overall health care system.
  • Identify how this reimbursement model evolved as a      solid and crucial part of the health care system.
  • Determine how this reimbursement model has positively      influenced cost, quality, and access of care.

Guided Response: Review at least two of the other methods posted by your classmates. Respond to at least two of your classmates who have posted an argument for two of the other methods. In your responses

Method 3: Pay-For-Performance (last names N-R)
In your initial post,

  • Examine how this reimbursement model has positively      influenced the overall health care system.
  • Identify how this reimbursement model evolved as a      solid and crucial part of the health care system.
  • Determine how this reimbursement model has positively      influenced cost, quality, and access of care.

Guided Response: Review at least two of the other methods posted by your classmates. Respond to at least two of your classmates who have posted an argument for two of the other methods. In your responses:

  • Examine how your classmates’ model has a more negative      influence on the health care system than the other models.
  • Identify how your classmates’ model has a weaker      foundation for being part of the health care system (i.e., historical      value of yours vs. theirs).
  • Determine how your classmates’ model has negatively      influenced cost, quality, and access of care in comparison to your model.

Method 4: Value-Based Model (last names S-Z)
In your initial post,

  • Examine how this reimbursement model has positively      influenced the overall health care system.
  • Identify how this reimbursement model evolved as a      solid and crucial part of the health care system.
  • Determine how this reimbursement model has positively      influenced cost, quality, and access of care.

Guided Response: Review at least two of the other methods posted by your classmates. Respond to at least two of your classmates who have posted an argument for two of the other methods. In your responses,

Language Development Interview

Ashford 4: – Week 3 – Assignment

Language Development Interview

Much of the knowledge we gain comes from our learning and personal experiences.  For this assignment, you will spend time talking with an experienced preschool teacher or, if you are currently a preschool teacher, you can answer the questions yourself.  Your assignment is to select five questions regarding the support of language acquisition and language developmental stages in the classroom. Please review these possible questions that could guide your interview or you can create your own questions.

For this project, choose one of the following methods of completion:

Option 1

  1. Identify five questions that you could ask someone with      preschool experience about how they support language acquisition for the      stages of development in the classroom.  Document the      interview.  You can record the interview (with permission) or you can      write your questions and answers.
  2. Analyze the provided answers using your knowledge      gained, the textbook, and at least one other resource to substantiate or      refute their answers.  You can provide elaboration for or against      their responses further strengthening your own understanding.
  3. Summarize and explain three ways you will meet the      needs of children in this stage to support their language development      using the provided answers and your knowledge.

Option 2

  1. Identify five questions that you may be asked in a      future interview regarding how you will support language acquisition for      the stages of development in your future professional role.  Document      the interview. You can record a mock interview or you can write your      questions/answers.
  2. Analyze your own answers using your knowledge gained      and information from the textbook and at least one other resource to      substantiate your writing.
  3. Summarize and explain three ways you will meet the      needs of children in a developmental stage of your choice to support their      language development using your knowledge of language acquisition.

The interview can be submitted as a video, an audio recording, or a Microsoft Word document (which would be two to three pages in length).  You will also submit a one- to two-page Microsoft Word document (in addition to the title page and reference page) with your developmental level selected and elaboration of three ways you can meet the needs of the children in this developmental stage.  Please support your ideas with information from the textbook and at least one other outside resource.  Your paper must be written in APA format as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center, and include at least one scholarly resources in addition to the course text.

When you submit your assignments each week, they will be returned to you with specific feedback.  This feedback should be used to revise the assignment for the Final Project.  Please make the necessary corrections and save for Week Five use in the Final Project.

Carefully review the Grading Rubric for the criteria that will be used to evaluate your assignment.
