The very nature of global business requires leaders to develop cultural intelligence and to understand the importance of multiculturalism and diversity in a global business environment. For this assignment, you will define the concepts of cultural intelligence, multiculturalism, and diversity and analyze how they contribute to effective global leadership. The work you do in this assignment will contribute to your Global Leadership Development Plan.

Preparation

Search the Capella library and the Internet for recent, relevant articles on the topics of cultural intelligence, multiculturalism, and diversity in global organizations. You will need at least three resources to support your work in this assignment.

Instructions

For this assignment, address the following:

  • Explain the meaning of the terms, cultural intelligence, multiculturalism, and diversity, from a global leadership perspective.
  • Analyze the importance of these concepts or competencies in effective global leadership.
    • Compare the ways different countries and cultures conduct business. (Keep this limited to 3–4 countries or cultures, including the United States.)
    • Describe the demographics of today’s workforce.
    • Describe at least two situations in which misunderstandings related to culture could occur.
  • Describe strategies for improving cultural intelligence and expanding comprehension of multiculturalism and diversity.

Organize your assignment logically, using headings and subheadings as appropriate. Include a title page and references page and use APA to format your citations and references.

  1. Teacher Recruitment & Selection Process(Due October 15th) In this exercise you are to imagine that you are a human resource officer and responsible for hiring teachers. You are to develop a process for recruiting and hiring a teacher for a specific grade-level or subject area.  Do this in the form of a written proposal that contains the following elements:
  1. An online advertisement for the position (you may wish to utilize ads such as those posted in the New York Times Education Section as a model).
  1. A description of other recruitment strategies (e.g., job fairs, college visits, etc.)
  1. A description of the process for screening resumes: who will do this and how will potential candidates be identified.
  1. A description of the interview process: How many interviews will take place and who will do the interviewing?  Include at least 5 questions that will be asked of each interviewee.
  1. A description of any performance assessments to be utilized in the search: e.g. model lessons, written exercises, etc.
