Cost effective producers will choose the best way of combining labour with other inputs to achieve the best returns. In the presence of unemployed labour, the labour market will turn excess supply into a downward pressure on wages thus making it cost minimizing to employ labour to a huge proportion. It is therefore apparent that imbalance in the demand or supply of labour changes the technique of production. Products produced with a labour intensive technique due to low wages would lead to a cheap production. Eventually, a labour intensive market normally drives substitution towards consumer demand on the commodities. Mainstream economists believe that producers usually employ the cheapest input method while the consumers substitute towards spending on products that are manufactured by cheaper input methods. Mainstream economists posit that labour may not adapt its supply in conjunction with the demand but a flexible market mechanism in the labour market as well as in the goods and financial market may equate the number of jobs available with the number of job seekers.

The audience for this genre are manufacturers and the students who are interested in understanding the labour and the commodity markets. Manufacturers would always want to understand the best mix for labour in a particular industry so as to employ the most appropriate and cost effective mix in production. For academic purposes, the students and other people interested in the economic activities may be interested in understanding the connection between labour and production.

This genre is very informative as it informs about the labour market relationship with production. It highlights how market mechanisms in the labour market affect technique of production and finally the result of the labour input. This genre attempts to explain an economic phenomenon, which most people do not understand. An economic expert who has a deep insight of activities taking place in the labour market can therefore write the genre.

Economy is dependent on transportation, taxes, poverty, education, environmental preservation and immigration. These factors are interrelated and play an integral part in the growth of economy. There are various challenges facing the factors determining economic growth rate. For instance, there is a problem between expansion of roads and transportation system and the need to protect the environment, which is also an important economic aspect. Transportation is an important aspect of resource distribution and should therefore be evenly distributed. However, because of inability to expand it imposed by factors such as financial constraint developing a centralized transportation location may be very useful in ensuring proper distribution of resources. Environmental pollution may hinder economic growth but since there should be economic activities going on regardless of environmental challenges, few of the activities such as housing and transportation may be allowed to ensure minimal pollution of environment. Education is another significant factor that can catapult economic growth but because it is a scare resource, the government should mostly concentrate on educating children living in poverty because the rich can afford their children’s education. In fact, due to scarcity of educated individuals, educated immigrants may just feel the gap and produce quality.

The audience for this genre is policymakers, government workers, students and players in an economic growth sector. Policymakers and government workers would utilize this information to understand economic drivers that can help a country’s or a region’s economies. Additionally, economic students may also use the genre as a good source of information regarding economic growth and development.

The purpose of this genre is to inform the audience about the main economic drivers, their impact and significance in the economy. The genre highlights different factors affecting economic growth and a student with deep understanding of the economic activities or an economic analyst or just an economic expert can write it.

International trade is an opportunity for workers because it boosts their living standards due to economic growth and more employment chances compared to a closed economy. Several opportunities of high skilled and other skilled jobs because of increase in capital flows, reduced import prices and advancement in technology that has made it easy to do business and create more jobs. Workers acquire special skills as a way of gaining competitive advantage. However, international trade is a threat to workers especially in terms of employment standards and rights. Most of the developing nations manufacture and export several products to other countries at the expense of forced labour and high degree of employee discrimination.

Audience for this genre are economic student or individuals interested in the international trade such as the policymakers. This genre will help them acquire knowledge concerning the benefits of engaging in international trade particularly to the workforce of the institutions engaging in foreign trade. The genre may also be helpful to the employers contemplating to enter into the international market. An international trade expert who is likely to be an economist and a student who has learnt about international economics can write the genre. This genre is very significant in explaining the relationship between international trade and the employees in a particular country or company. The authors are able to relay information that may be of great use to people who do not understand the association between International trade and a local country’s workforce.

. Team Work

3. Team Work

An organization or collection of people who get together to pursue a shared goal is known as a team. Even while the efforts of each individual team member are critical to the team’s overall success, the group as a whole is responsible for the team’s overall performance. Our team was made up of five members, each explicitly assigned a different task, all fulfilling the requirements of preparing for the presentation. We followed the Belbin Model in an effort to create balanced roles, where a well-balanced team was created based on nine team roles: creating ideas, exploring opportunities, clarity of goals and decision making, driving the team forward, support and cooperation, discerning judgment, implementation, attentiveness to detail, and technical skills and knowledge (Aritzeta, Swailes, & Senior, 2007). Belbin believes that teams must be formed in such a way that they have a healthy mix of team duties (Smith, Polglase, & Parry, 2012). Nonetheless, we faced complications in terms of assigning roles and ensuring that these roles were not only fair but also balanced. We used a criterion based on individual choice for tasks and roles and adjoined some complex tasks together for easier completion.

The team forming process was fairly regular and in line with the five-stages of developing a team (Cresswell-Yeager, 2021). Our team went through forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning. The forming stage was preceded by a phase of introduction and try to get to know one another. During this period, there was a great deal of uncertainty, and people were yearning for direction and guidance. To make it through the storming phase was perhaps the most challenging and important step of the process. The period was characterized by strife and competitiveness as distinct personalities began to take shape. The team’s performance suffered at this stage as a result of the energy used on useless tasks. Subgroups and cliques evolved surrounding strong characters or sections of consensus as a result of the disagreements over team objectives and aims. During the norming stage, agreement was reached on the identity of the leader or leaders, as well as the duties of individual members. Interpersonal conflicts were beginning to also be addressed, and a feeling of coherence and togetherness was beginning to emerge. Team performance improved as members learnt to work together and became more focused on the team’s objectives. When it came to the performing stage, agreement and collaboration were extremely well-established, and the team had reached a high level of maturity, organization, and efficiency. There had been a clear and steady framework in place, and all of the team members were dedicated to the task. Problems and disagreements continued to arise, but they were resolved in a productive manner. The majority of the team’s objectives were met during the adjournment stage, and the key objectives were the completion of last tasks and the documentation of the team’s efforts and accomplishments.

This group work experience is beneficial to my future career development as I intend to be a part of a well-functioning team. My aspirations are to work for a company in order to gather efficient skills and knowledge and later go into private business. The present group work experience will help me develop a better understanding of what I should pay attention to in team collaboration.

4. Presentation Experience

Working in a team meant a lot of learning, compromising, problem-solving, and altogether working towards a common goal. It was a steep learning curve seeing that we all desired to get a high score and also gain something out of the entire experience. I learnt a lot from this presentation experience. I learnt how to make a better preparation for the presentation and how to express myself better in public. For instance, prior to the group presentation, in order to have a better presentation, I had a full discussion with my group members on what models need to be employed to present the opportunities and challenges faced by Innocent Drinks. After deep discussion, we eventually decided to utilize as much as figures and statistics to present the opportunities and challenges faced by Innocent Drinks in a vivid and direct manner. This could enable the audiences to develop a deeper and better understanding of the situation. In addition, we also decided to add some pictures about Innocent Drinks, such as its logo, its sustainable trucks, into the presentation slides. The use of such visual pictures is proved to be successful to make presentation vivid and easier to understand and attractive. The presentation feedbacks from the teacher confirmed this point. In addition, I also learnt that good team cooperation and collaboration also contributed to better results and faster attainment of set goals. We modified the presentation drafts several times based on the suggestions from the group members, being considerate of every suggestion made. Factoring in the suggestions of every group member was an arduous task, one that meant delayed decision making and slower implementation. However, we were able to trust the opinions and skills of each member based on their allotted task, providing a lesson on delegation and team effort and contribution.

As for the presentation, I learnt that confidence and how to express our ideas in a clear and organized manner were the key contributors to a good presentation. Originally, as a result of nervousness and lack of confidence, I was afraid to look directly into the eyes of the audiences and failed to deliver the presentation in a smooth and clear manner. As a consequence, the presentation result was not good as the audiences could not understand what I wanted to stress and what I wanted to deliver through the presentation. However, in this group presentation, we mainly presented our reports through Microsoft Team. Without facing the audiences face to face, I became more confident. In addition, I also made some practices prior to the presentation. As a consequence, I made use of some stresses and pauses to deliver important information. Irrespective of some weaknesses in pronunciations and some stresses, I perceived that I delivered my best performance.

Working in small groups is more essential for effective learning since it encourages teamwork and co-operation. Biasutti (2018), on the other hand, takes a pessimistic approach, meaning that the adoption of peer learning methodologies by educational institutes is merely a case of assembling a group of people and hoping it works.  Cooperative learning tends to strengthen learning among team members via debate and peer review, whereas cooperative learning is socially created knowledge that is based on the negotiation of differing viewpoints amongst group members. When it comes to achieving a goal, I’ve learned that collaboration between members of a team is crucial. To put it another way, the Action Learning model is best described by Vince et al. (2018) as a continuous feedback loop and reflection that is supported by team members and ultimately leads to the accomplishment of a goal. In our group, we used Action Learning’s bottom-up method, which encourages creativity rather than merely changing the way things are done. For me, this presentation preparation was by far more effective than any other team exercise I have been a part of before. I learnt to consider the opinion of others, leadership, responsibility, problem solving, and accountability.

5. Common Themes

In reality, business enterprises face a host of obstacles and problems along the road as they embark on their entrepreneurial journeys. Businesses nowadays must learn to collaborate with a plethora of brand-new marketing platforms. They must keep up with the most recent technological developments, whether it’s social media, search engines, or website design and development. Furthermore, because digital media has no territorial boundaries, firms must compete with enterprises from all over the world on a global scale (Vanani & Jalali, 2018). There might be a range of supply chain and logistical issues as a result of these challenges, as well as the stoppage of internal activity.

The challenges identified for Innocent Drinks present common themes across the soft drinks industry. Green & Black’s also faces similar challenges. It also faces significant challenges like fierce competition from other strong rivals and changeable tastes of consumers. Mordor Intelligence (2021) highlights that the UK chocolate market is mainly dominated by some large enterprises, such as Cargill Incorporation, Barry Callebaut Group and Puratos Group and those small-scale compound chocolate makers are gradually merged by these large enterprises. All of these statistics indicate that Green & Black’s faces challenges of high competitive intensity, which will undoubtedly undermine its profit margin if it fails to take some effective measures. Another common theme is the need to keep up with technological advancements. For example, Innocent Drinks is required to think green in terms of environmental sustainability and adding value to the ecological system. This is also a problem that other companies like Green & Black face today. Because technology is changing at a quick pace, keeping up with technological advancements has become increasingly difficult for businesses. Furthermore, if a firm fails to innovate, its competitors will quickly seize control of the market share that was previously held by the company. As a result, technological improvements are forcing many businesses to shut down, and in order to prevent this, every enterprise needs to incorporate technology into its operations.

The reason for the common theme in terms of challenges and opportunities is because of the growth stages that a firm is currently experiencing. In the five stages of business growth, common themes appear because the challenges and opportunities faced also come with the phase a business is currently in. in the fist stage, existence, the main issues include obtaining customers as well as the delivery of product and services. Lewis and Churchill (1983) term the organization as very small leading to an owner doing everything themselves. In the second stage, survival, the enterprise has shown that it can work as a business entity and has enough customers and product to sustain them. The problems and challenges shift from just existence to include the connection between expenses and revenues. In the third stage, success, the company faces an issue on decision making regarding whether to exploit its success and keep expanding, or conform to profitability and stability (Lewis and Churchill, 1983). Take-off, the fourth stage, problems include how to grow fast and means to support the growth. Finally, resource maturity, the last stage, brings a problem of managing success through control and consolidation of financial gain and ways to retain the advantages achieved.

. Social networks

Twitter

Introduction

In a bid to accept technological advancements, the term social networking has become inevitable and has to be embraced. Social networks have greatly accelerated their place towards transforming lives as they have brought out an easy way of communication. Whether at in our homes or mobile phones, they have brought in varied changes on how communication takes place. Twitter is online social networking web service and a micro-blogging service that makes it possible for its users to send and read messages that are text based that contain a limited number of characters of approximately 140 (Peterson, 2012). These messages are known as tweets and are usually displayed on ones profile. This is a way of building up a social network and gets connected to the right people. It is one of the leading social networking sites on the web where the users can subscribe to other users tweets and this is known as following and those who subscribe are known as followers. It is a miniature blog for people who want a blog but do not want a blog. It is often described as a cross between blogging and instant messaging.

It is also a great tool that can be used to communicate a message to a group of people. It can therefore be used differently by different people for instance it can be used by family top keep in touch, a company to coordinate its business activities, a writer, musician, actor, leader to build up a fan base or even the media to keep people informed. It is a useful tool as a social network for people in most of daily functions such as business in that markets can stay in touch with customers through twitter, communication this is enables social connection with family members or friends and learning.

There is great knowledge on using twitter as a platform for successful business. Some people are go through twitter in their daily lives as customers to buy products and they are in support of company brands or their products by buying them or giving suggestions since they can openly communicate with companies about their requirements. Leveraging twitter gives customers the ability to take part that potentially makes an impact such that the customers stay in touch with their famous companies or similar companies that use same brand names.

Twitter creates a neighborly atmosphere for friendly communication for its users and provides a high level of communication between friends and family all round the world. This communication can be one on one, one to many or many to many. The various social options of the user profile in twitter help people to communicate with each other in far areas. Twitter members can communicate privately through sending messages or publicly with writing on friends’ wall or finding and adding new friends or even sending friend requests to new friends. On twitter there is freedom to speak all kinds of subjects.

Twitter as an educational tool based on some experimental and literature can be viewed in the following aspects; all twitter users and students in particular can use twittering in classes or outside to learn more. Twitter can also be used as a platform to get answers by students as they can post questions even as they engage in other classroom activities. Twitter can also offer students with other opportunities linked to the course they are taking or discussing other different kinds of asynchronous online discourse. There can also be collaborations across schools and countries. Twitter can also be use as a tool for assessing opinions, finding ideas for faster interaction it is a useful tool for academic setting about a given topic. It is also a way for learning about library events like new books, journals and articles.

Twitter has been a great influence on the way people communicate in the modern society. It has brought a great revolution in the way communication is done in the modern society. It has amplified communication and made it ubiquitous. It provides the society with infrastructure that expands people’s social circles. Communication amongst peers, families, governments and companies is an essential part of the society. These changes are felt through the following ways; Twitter has altered the speed at which communication can take place. It has made communication instantenious. This is regardless of the geographical area where the parties are located; it might even be opposite ends of the globe. Tweets can be written in a matter of seconds and seen almost immediately they are updated. The information in the tweets can reach the person they intend to almost immediately. It has changed the way people communicate as people no longer wait days to receive news. People value quick hits that allow them to capture only important information and quickly move on. It has hence made communication instantaneous and makes people get connected more.

Twitter has greatly increased the frequency through which communication can be done. This is because twitter is a social network that is easily accessible. This means that people can communicate frequently. Twitter can be accessed anywhere anytime of the day and hence a great way of increasing communication between different parties. This constant need for communication that twitter creates has led to people feeling as if they can communicate anywhere. Twitter has also increased communication without human contact has led to some uncomfortable etiquette issues in both online and offline spaces. This may include twitter members addressing what is socially acceptable to know about each other when they meet in the real world. Twitter has also made communication more visual and through this has attracted the attention spans of people through pictures, videos and info graphics.

This has also lead to a decrease in communication using other methods such as text messages, phones and emails. This has led to telecommunication companies to change their structure of mobile phones that will enable the buyers to access twitter. This has led to people not to use their phones to communicate through voice calls but through twitter by tweets (Sherman, 2010).

Twitter has implications on both written and oral communications. Twitter has made an irreversible impact on the way people write. This is because there is the urge to be more concise while writing. Twitter has a 140 character limit; people often wondered how they could convey a message that is meaningful in very few words. Twitter has pushed people to get into the essence of what one intends to say. This means that it is not necessary to write in full sentences or paragraphs to have an impact according to twitter. There is also the use of different spellings and abbreviations this includes TTYL which means Talk To You Later. Twitter users are not necessarily spelling things incorrectly. They are effectively speaking an entirely new language (Peterson, 2012).

Twitter has affected spoken communication in that it has made people more revealing in business and personal communications. The information given out is not necessarily considered as too much information. Twitter has also made people antisocial when it comes to face to face interactions. People spend most of their time glued to their mobile phones reading or writing tweets and they do this in public places or forums. This can be considered as antisocial behavior. Tweeters has an impact in the way people speak publicly since most people can use some phrases or terms or trending topics that are doing rounds on twitter to pass some information (Sherman, 2010).

The statistics carried out for the number of twitter users and other methods of communication shows that, time spent on social networks has risen to 82% across the world, and it will still increase given that technology continues emerge creating rooms for newer social networks. The statistics taken in the early 2012 indicates that, the Twitter users averagely spend more than five hours while online chatting with friends as compared to 2008 when users were clocking for less than three hours on the site (Pring, 2012). The audience users of twitter increases year-over-year leading to an estimated number of over 300 million this is because twitter site is known to be in the competition for attracting visitors than other social sites such as MySpace and LinkedIn who realized their declines in unique visitors.

The statistical research carried out in 2010 shows that, the number of Twitter users’ increase over and over again changing the way of communication both in written, spoken and verbal communication. Twitter provides users with ability of sharing information as they post their status that includes news, jokes, and events. Twitter is a social element for communicating and keeping up to date with what friends are up to as well as their whereabouts. The use of twitter has various advantages to their users as a means of communication in that, when tweeting with one another, people get to know one another better making the acquaintances to becomes mates, it promotes togetherness creating new friends as they connect with other different people to share similar common interests and opinions that comes all across the world.

When sharing information, Twitter users are comfortable of doing so in different ways; they can share the information through spoken, written and verbal communication. The statistics reveals that the average twitter user has about 126 followers and tweets the links achieving 1.17% click through rate. 40% of the users happen not to tweet anything while 0.05% of the total twitter populations normally attract 50% of attention on the channel. The statistics also show that the twitter users send over a billion tweets in 72 hours having more than 140 million active users, and 340 million people tweets every day (Pring, 2012).

The twitter users normally celebrate democratization of different information sharing as well as taking it to cast their voices. It is true that, the art and science of engaging to other people are measured by the ability of connecting with them for greater durations at deeper time levels; however, it is not usually as easy as it is thought of, because the competition for attention of people is very substantial and hence it requires an increased sense of intelligence and awareness to conceptualize the creativity that captivate people hoped to be reached. This is so different with a case when one activates the social web along with inciting the consequential action that is measured and memorable because twitter helps in defining and shaping the experiences which can increase affinity or that can simply earn the attention (Peterson, 2012).

Conclusion

How much the social networking such as twitter has become the new trend in the workplace such as analyzing the profiles of employees as well as encouraging efficient interaction between people, it has on the other hand contributed to other negative impacts in and outside the organization. Using twitter most of the time can have a negative influence on the worker productivity; the employees who are twitter users may tend to waste their valuable time while tweeting and also can use it to attack the reputation of the company. Conversely, when social media is excessively used in the wrong way, it may have serious detrimental outcomes on both physical healths of the individuals as well as on their mental health.
