Every learner may achieve success in responding to literature despite of reading ability and one of the main benefits of reading journals and logs is increased comprehension. Students are empowered to grow as both readers and writers using own background in constructing their personal meaning and further encourages them to integrate new experiences with the past (Harvey & Goudvis, 2000). During reading activities also helps in transforming students’ feelings and thoughts regarding what they have read into words hence enabling them to make personal connection to texts (Smith & Rubiano, 2011). Using journals and logs, students develop understanding of reading strategy, comprehension and record the progress of the students’ writing and new literature.

During reading activities, help students in to make notes in their own words and even write questions that may help them improve their memory. Students are likely to remember significant issues they derive by themselves and feel deeply. Reading a journal or logs is an ongoing process of evolving thinking and readers normally carry on an inner conversation with the text. Readers tend to respond with delight, wonder, or sometimes argue with the author, make connections and draw inferences to understand what they read.

Journal writing includes challenges of rationalizing one’s insecurities since most people are always tempted to portray themselves as perfect hence refusing to acknowledge what needs to be changed. Confused students may have the challenge of finding their place in the world, which eventually prompts the journal writers to be reactive to other people and suppress their desires. Some people may fear writing journals because they only reflect their own thoughts and emotions and that no one will ever read them (Schoenbach, Greenleaf & Murphy, 2012). They are simply not empowered by the fact that the contents of the journal are not supposed to be read by the third party. Journals and logs relay opinions and feelings making their content to cover one person’s perspective instead of giving a picture of the topic covered. A reader may therefore not acquire knowledge from different people and school of thoughts as opposed to reading other articles that are peer reviewed. Reading journals may not be objectively understood because various people may experience large discrepancies in the judgment of different types of work.

Reading activity greatly improves comprehension and understanding if properly applied. During reading, students are always actively involved in the text and a teacher is required to assist them in self-monitoring by guiding them in attending problems that may arise in during reading activities. Additionally, during reading activities facilitates comprehension while focusing attention, promoting reactions and allows for personal responses (Yopp & Yopp, 2010). Moreover, during reading enables students to construct image of what they have read and provides a memory representation of their interpretation. The mental representation of the students’ interpretation of the journal tends to improve the retention of the information and further positively affect conceptual development and comprehension monitoring.

According to Yopp & Yopp (2010), students’ entire lives depend on how they develop the ability to comprehend what they read because the main goal of reading comprehension is to enable the knowledge, skills, and experiences. The research points out at some strategies and corresponding instructional techniques that must be addressed before, during and after reading to activate students understanding and comprehension (Harvey & Goudvis, 2000). The research based strategies include activating prior knowledge, self-questioning, evoking sensory images, drawing inferences, conducting summaries, seeking clarification, and using fix up strategies to repair comprehension.

Readers ought to recall what they know concerning a topic prior to reading with new insight because this will lead to building necessary knowledge to ensure comprehension. Students may use various strategies such as anticipation guides, story impressions, and preview to recall even more information already known. Additionally, seeking clarification may greatly enhance students’ understanding, which is critical to learning and development. Readers’ awareness in understanding what they read is very important and teachers may include the explicit modeling of fix-up strategies to help students resolve their problems (Schoenbach Greenleaf & Murphy, 2012).

All these strategies play significant role in enhancing comprehension and understanding. The instruction provides a clear goal or purpose to improve on their awareness in understanding what the students are reading and employ strategies to identify difficult concepts and be aware of how a particular text is organized (Yopp & Yopp, 2010). Reading provides opportunity for both students and teachers to discuss what students read and encourage students to read and learn about concept or meaningful topic. The strategy further encourages the students to engage in reading related activities and even empowers them to read independently. Reading journals and logs sharpens students’ wits and make them comprehend and understand variety of concepts provided by the writers.

Film Proposal

Introduction

A good film should serve to meet its true purpose of inspiring an audience (Valck, 2007). As such, there are stipulated procedurals that are meant to guide the production of a quality, attention-grapping film. The first of the requirements is to establish proposal template that should inspire the production of the film. The proposal is meant to enlighten the producers about the intent of the writer and instill interest into features of the film (Rosenthal, 2011).

Objective of Proposal

This proposal serves to spur interest of the HBO film producers in the production of the film. That would be achieved through creating highlights into the features of the film that are meant to capture a large audience attention (Rosenthal, 2007). Moreover, the proposal also points out the limited expenses that are to be used in the general production.

The proposal acts as the launching pad for the film by selling the idea to producers and providing guidelines for the writing and production (Valck, 2007).

Title of Film

The film is to be given the title ‘The Apartment’. That is because the main casts are to be made in the domicile of the couple in which there also resides the spirit that enslaves the couple. The Apartment has a hidden history that includes a rich man who committed suicide in the apartment in the late 20th century. According to the history of the apartment, a rare aurier can be used to detect the presence of the spirit.

The title of the film covers most of the drama and gives the viewers an insight into the nature of the film (Rosenthal, 2007).

Synopsis

‘The Apartment’ is a film that is intended for the drama loving viewers of film. The film covers the story of a young and ambitious couple who find themselves a lavish apartment in the rich estates of Oxshott, Manchester as they seek to satisfy their adventurous and ambitious nature. Producers

For the film to hit high pitch viewing and sales, renowned producers should be accredited with the duty of leading the production process (Rosenthal, 2011). As such, The Apartment is intended for production by the HBO, who not only ensure quality, but also tap into their client/viewer base to promote the film.

Contracting the HBO would also assist in waning off competition for viewers albeit the film will rely on its plot to build a large viewer base.

Genre of the Film

The film is majorly drama, but there are other genres that include horror and action. The manner in which the couple lives prior to separately learning about the existence of the spirit exhibits great drama. The constant argument and unfolding of events that include making pacts with the spirit and trying to reach the terms of the pacts makes the drama more interesting. There is also a deception between the couple as both of them are not sentient of the other’s engagement with the spirit. They hence try to make their activities that are related to meeting terms of their pacts secret.

The history of the apartment is also expressed in an exciting manner as the identity of the rich man who had initially died in the apartment is not unveiled. His spirit is also significantly referred to as just as the spirit by the couple and people who are well aware of its existence.

In the final bit of the film, the couple starts experiencing nightmares that torment them in their sleep. The man for instance, often dreams that a force takes control of his body and makes him behead his wife with an axe when he refuses to cooperate with the spirit. The lady also has dreams in which a grotesque figure keeps tormenting her and in some cases even making attempts to indulge sexually with her.

During

During the therapeutic relationship, patients may distort their perceptions of others. Therefore, they may relate to the nurse not on the basis of the nurse’s realistic attributes, but wholly or chiefly on the basis of interpersonal relationships existing in their environment. With the patient and nurse roles you have described above, discuss how these distorted perceptions may affect the patient’s care and the nurse-patient relationship.

Distorted perceptions among patients and their caregivers can lead to a negative patient-nurse relationship. Patients may see the nurse as someone who is not of the same social class, age, race, or sex. The misperception can be related to attractiveness and disabilities among others. Nurses need to be aware that these biases exist and work on changing them by listening to patients’ concerns without judgment and making them feel safe in discussing personal matters. In turn, nurses will have more rewarding relationships with their patients and better outcomes in their clinical care delivery.” “Nurses need to be aware that these biases exist and work on changing them by listening to patients’ concerns without judgment and making them feel safe in discussing personal matters.

These distorted perceptions may affect the patient’s care and the nurse-patient relationship by: changing how a patient perceives the nurse and then alters their care decisions (e.g., altering medication doses or discontinuing treatment); prompting them to ‘test’ their nurse with negative comments; small acts that may have little effect on the patient but can have large impact on the nurse. According to Hildegard Peplau, nursing refers to “An interpersonal process of therapeutic interactions between an individual who is sick or in need of health services and a nurse especially educated to recognize, respond to the need for help.” Thus distorted perceptions may affect this therapeutic relationship if there is no healthy relationship between the nurse and patient (Gonzalo, 2014). The primary care concept of nursing is to create a therapeutic relationship with the patient that will enhance their physical and mental wellbeing.

A successful therapeutic relationship must develop as an outgrowth of a healthy interpersonal relationship between the nurse and patient. A healthy interpersonal relationship is based on mutual trust, confidence, positive regard, and respect for each other as human beings (Roviralta‐Vilella et al., 2019). Mutual trust means that patients can be open about their feelings in spite of fear or embarrassment, because they know that their nurse will respect them enough to listen to what they say and try to understand them even when they disagree with the patient’s actions or words.
