Drug addiction and Human Behavior
A general assumption is made by members of the society that there is a close relationship between drug addiction and crime. That most drug addicts are criminals and most criminals are drug addicts, this assumption is the basis of our study. To try and search for the validity of this assumption by conducting a study that will indicate the truth. Other assumptions about drug abuse and drug addiction include drug addicts are dirty and lead miserable lives. This paper is a study into these assumptions about drug abuse.
Components of the design
The design has comprises of a direct study on the subject of drug addiction and criminality. The aim is to conduct a behavioral study on drug addicts and on people convicted for different crimes. This will enable us to get a clear understanding of the relationship between drug abuse and crime. To understand if being a drug addict makes you turn to crime and other factors that lead people to crime other than drug addiction.
There are two components under investigation in this study the relationship between drug addiction and crime. Another component is other factors that lead people to crime other than drug abuse. This two will help us understand human behavior that surrounds drug addiction and crime.
The Design
The reasoning behind the design is to take advantage of close contact with victims in order to understand human behavior in a wider perspective. Behavior can only been understood by direct contact with the groups we have an interest in. Close monitoring of their lifestyle for a short period of time will help me demystify the assumptions about drug abuse and crime. I have a chance to get unbiased information from the affected groups and from this information get a conclusion.
The advantage of working with first-hand information cannot be overemphasized. It helps in creating a deeper understanding of the matter.
The design tactic
This design is observational. No tests are conducted; therefore it cannot be termed as experimental. Also a conclusion is drawn immediately after the design is implemented unlike in an experiment where conclusions are made after a while.
The observational aspect of the design comes in a first-hand basis. Through direct observation and interviews of the groups named this design will obtain its results. Various methods will be used; however, the team conducting the study will be part of all methods to take in all observations.
Reasons for choosing this design
This design model provides for a first hand source of information. This is the best way to get data from the groups both drug addicts and people who have been convicted for different crimes.
There are other advantages and disadvantages of using this design;
Advantages
We will obtain information direct from those who have real life experiences.
Close interactions will give us a chance to understand other issues surrounding drug abuse and crime.
Firsthand information will be obtained and it will be used for reference by other groups who may be interested in the same matter.
Disadvantage
There is one main disadvantage in this design is convincing people to speak openly about their drug addiction or their past crime life. Most people may tent to hide some information from the interviewer, the hidden information may be very vital in understanding the issue. People may also not turn up to help out in the study; this will leave me without any data to get a conclusion from. When there is no group to be studied and observed information may be falsified by other groups just to come up with a study.
Types of bias on this design
There have been many misconceptions that surround drug abuse. It has been said that use of drugs leads to crime, here drug abuse is not considered as a crime. Implementing this design while bearing these misconceptions in mind may hinder the validity of the results. This will be conducting the study with an already made up mind, this is a major hindrance in the study.
An already made up mind regarding the matter is the bias for our design. This will interfere with the results and the study will not be a good base of making a conclusion.
In conclusion
This design is the best way to collect first-hand information in the study. First-hand information is the best way to make a conclusion in the matter. This will also provide a basis for understanding drug abuse and human behavior by direct interaction with members of these groups. Other factors that affect crime and other effects on human behavior due to drug abuse will be easily highlighted using this design.
This design will create precedence for other researchers to analyze the data collected and do their studies on the same matters.

Introduction
A fairly tale is a small story originating from the folk lore. It has the typical features of a folk narrative, with fantasy characters, such as giants, dwarves, trolls, fairies, elves and globins (Bottigheimer, 2010, p. 12). Although a fairly tale does not have a clear-cut definition, it can be distinguished from other types of folk narratives, such as the exclusive moral tales and legends (which involve societal beliefs about specific events). Fairly tales have been part of oral narratives for several centuries. However, there are also authors in the contemporary world who have used fairly tales for various reasons. The modern fairly tales are designed to fit the modern contexts.
Originally, fairly tales were meant for both adults and children. The authors of the fairly tales designed them for adults, so that the adults could get stories to tell to their children. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the authors started targeting children directly (Bottigheimer, 2010, p. 12). The traditional fairly tales, which were designed for adults, were altered as they were passed from one generation to another, so that they could be read to children. Throughout history, fairly tales have always been targeted on influencing children in various ways. Although they involve fictions, each fairly tale has a specific theme or themes meant for the children. In most cases, the fairly tales sensitize children on the importance of doing good deeds and avoiding bad deeds or behaviors (Bottigheimer, 2010, p. 13). The current paper analyzes traditional fairly tales in order to understand their influence on children. Specifically, the paper analyzes “Mr Miacca” by Joseph Jacobs and the “Little Red Riding Hood” by Charles Perrault.
Mr Miacca
“Mr Miacca” is a story of a boy called Tommy Grimes, who sometimes portrayed good behaviors and in other times, bad behaviors. His mother always advised him not to go alone to the street (Jacobs, 2009, p. 152). Her mother frequently warned him that if goes out to the street alone, a cannibalistic fiend called Mr Miacca would take him and kill him for food. Despite the warnings, Tommy went out to the street alone. Mr Miacca caught Tommy as he “got round the corner,” and put him upside down in a bag and took him home. When Mr Miacca walked out to look for herbs, Tommy tricked Mrs Miacca and managed to escape (Jacobs, 2009, p. 152). Tommy did not learn from the first encounter, and he walked out to the street alone another day. Mr Miacca grabbed him again and took him home again for food. Mr Miacca decided to cut his leg and put it in a boiling pot, but instead, missed and cut the leg of the chair. Tommy took the opportunity to escape again. Tommy never went back to the street alone until when he was a grown up (Jacobs, 2009, p. 152).
“Mr Miacca” was written in the 19th century, but it was reused as a fairly tale for children until 1960s (Tatar, 1993, p. 24). Although it has important themes that are applicable in the contemporary societies, it is hardly used in the modern world as a story for children (Bottigheimer, 2010, p. 89). The tale is meant to teach the children the importance of obedience. The text is concerned with discouraging two vices; curiosity and stubbornness. Tommy is presented as a curious boy who wants to walk out and explore the street. He is disobedient and stubborn because he goes out to the street two times even after warnings by his mother.
In short, the “Mr Miacca” attempts to mould the behavior of children through giving elaborate illustration of the consequences of disobedience and deviant conduct. As she replies a question to Tommy, Mrs Miacca makes it explicit that Mr Miacca eats boys who have bad behaviors of walking around the streets alone. When taking Tommy home, Mr Miacca said to him that “you’re all I’ve got for supper, and you’ll not taste bad boiled” (Tatar, 1993, p. 24). In addition, the author of the tale used a picture of a huge man holding an axe. The author uses the axe to emphasize that violence will be used against a child who is disobedient.
Although the main theme of the tale is to discourage disobedience, it has other influences on children. For instance, it gives ideas to the children on how handle problems. When Tommy found that he was going to be used as food, he decided to lie to Mrs Miacca in order to escape (Tatar, 1993, p. 24). Although the act of lying in order to escape is not considered morally right in most societies, the tale connects to the lives and anxieties of children and gives them idea on how to act when they find themselves in such situation. In other words, the tale gives ideas to children on how to navigate through problems in life.
Little Red Riding Hood
“Little Red Riding Hood” is a fairly tale of a little girl who was sent by her mother to take food to her sick grandmother. The girl, whose name was Little Red Riding Hood, was supposed to pass through a forest and thus, her mother instructed her to stick to a certain path. However, the girl decided to pass through a different path (Hillert, 2006, p. 5). On her way, while in the forest, she was confronted by a wolf. The wolf lured her with sweet words until she agreed to inform him where her grandmother lived. She told the wolf that her grandmother lived a quarter of an hour away from the forest. The wolf left the girl and went to the grandmother’s home and swallowed her. When the girl arrived to her grandmother’s home, the wolf disguised himself as the grandmother (Hillert, 2006, p. 7). However, Little Red Riding Hood noticed that her grandmother had gained strange looks. The wolf then approached towards the girl and swallowed her too. An air pilot came to the rescue; he took an axe and used it to cut the wolf and disposed him into a lake (Zipes, 2006, p. 197).
The “Little Red Riding Hood” was used as a story for children in Italy as early as 20th century. It has been altered in various ways and consequently, there are different versions of the tale with significant differences. For instance, Charles Perrault’s version of the tale is very different from Brothers Grimms’ version. While Grimms’ version indicates that the girl and her grandmother were eventually rescued, Perrault’s version does not mention it. Despite the alteration, “Little Red Riding Hood” remained relevant until the early 19th century.
“Little Red Riding Hood” has two major themes. First, it discourages disobedience. Little Red Riding Hood disobeyed her mother buy failing to follow the path that she was instructed to pass. As a result, she faced the negative consequence; she was confronted by a wolf that later swallowed her and her grandmother. The tale has pictures that portray a mother giving advice to her daughter. Secondly, the story teaches children not to allow themselves to be deceived by criminals who use sweet words and lure people into giving them information or doing what they want. The wolf presented himself as good and used sweet words. For instance, the wolf said “God help you, Red Hood” (Hillert, 2006, p. 7). The positive approach led the girl to give in. She replied “God bless you, wolf” (Hillert, 2006, p. 7). The tale has a picture in which the wolf looks humble as he tries to solicit information from the girl.
When the wolf inquired about where she was going, she quickly replied that she was going to her grandmother’s home. Without knowing that the wolf had bad intentions, she even described where her grandmother lived. In the same way, criminals may not show their bad intentions when inquiring information that they need in order perpetrate harm. After getting the information they need from an innocent person, the person also becomes a target of harm by the criminals. Therefore, the text in the tale teaches children to avoid giving in as a result of luring words of criminals.
Conclusion
In conclusion, fairly tales have been used for many centuries as stories for children. They are designed to give specific messages to the children. In particular, fairly tales are meant to foster discipline or good behaviors in children and to discourage bad behaviors. “Mr Miacca” and “Little Red Riding Hood” are good examples of fairly tales that have been used for a long time to teach children. The two tales discourage the vice of disobedience. In addition, the “Little Red Riding Hood” teaches children not to allow themselves to be lured by criminals.

Family Partying
Family Partying
Market definitionMost families would wish to hold parties or/and honor occasions with a party. Unfortunately, only a minority of them would have the resources and mostly the time to honor such undertakings. It is this gap that event management and outside catering firms have come to fill. The outside catering sector of the food industry is a fast growing segment of the economy (Fullen, 2005). As more and more people keep embracing outsourcing activities related to their events, so does this sector continue to grow? Wedding planners, parents planning birthday parties, house hold centered activities etc. all require food. Preparing food for a party is not only time con summing but also leaves the host tired to a very great extent. Additionally, the hosts are forced to deal with the worries associated with the right formula and recipe for whatever they offer. It also emerges that most of the occasion holders desire to hold their events at places other than their homes. All this demands meticulous planning on the part of the hosts and often makes party planning a task and as such significantly reduces the opportunity for the hosts to have fun (Weinberg, 2007). This led to a situation where most people began to prefer hiring outsiders ( in most cases close relatives, friends, relatives or plain professionals) to manage their events. Thus, the industry called event management grew and from it an outshoot called outside catering developed. As event management firms continue to develop, more and more people who are planning parties tend to opt for them. Event management firms mostly get their contracts away from their areas of operation. This means that they have to outsource some of their functions to residents of the area of the contract. The most outsourced business is catering owing to preparation times needed and the logistics required before, during and after the occasion.
Nina caterers will seek to provide event management firms with a cheap, flexible, mobile, malleable and quality assured outside catering firms. We will seek to satisfy all our clients’ needs and to make sure that whichever event we are invited to, we shall emerge as best to +90% of our charges and as such gain referrals and recommendations. Clients will be sourced through direct marketing through religious institutions as well as the legal state offices. Our main and immediate clients are the couples wishing to hold weddings, party hosts and wake/ memorial services/ funeral organizers. These are the groups who might mostly need the services of any firm offering food delivery services. Our firm thus fills their bill. Being a localized business venture, Nina caterers will initially target the population in and around the area defined by our physical address. This will be helpful since the entrepreneur is well known by the residents. In addition to being well known, the owner is within the age bracket of twenty five years and thirty five years. This means that most of the individuals that are having weddings are well known to him. In addition to the fact that the owner enjoys cordial relations with the residents; the plan is to be the lowest priced outside catering provider. Though competitors are present, they do not hold much sway with the local community. The community either considers them overpriced or too alienated from the reality on the ground (Weinberg, 2007). It is thus envisaged that though the venture will start with a market share of Zero to none, the first month of operation will see it grow to at least twenty (20%) of the business that is locally generated. The company will also seek to open avenues for visitors to its neighboring areas who might at one time or the other needs its services. It is thus envisaged that by the close of its first operational year, the company will have managed to take over twenty five (25%) percent of all outside catering services in its locality. This means that the growth in the initial month(s) will accumulate to more than three hundred percent of the initial market. The eventual target is to control sixty (60%) of all business (new or old). This will involve concerted marketing approaches as well as cutting down on ‘client directed costs’.
Products and servicesNina Events aims to offer homogenous products; event planning and outside catering, to different types of people faced with similar but slightly variegated needs. We will handle various occasions but mostly we will specialize with the below expounded events.
Birthday parties and AnniversariesIn this regard, we will offer packages that ensure that whether surprise or open, the parties will be forever memorable. We will liaise with businesses that offer venues to ensure that those clients who want to hold these parties away from their homes get the best venues available (Erdosh, 1994). If and when celebrities and /or artistes are required, the firm will ensure that it has pre established links with record labels and artist management firms. Our core business being outside catering, we will have liaised with firms that stock or manufacture products that are mostly needed in these occasions including but not limited to cakes, pastries, decorations, balloons etc. These connections will ensure that we will offer a comprehensive and memorable event.
WeddingsDue to the fact that weddings between two people happen once unless under very rare occasions, the company will permanently hire the services of a fully qualified wedding planner to ensure that they go according to plan. This service will include; helping select the wedding attires for both the couple and maids and pages, decorating the venue of the service, setting out the reception areas, serving food and refreshments to all attending guests (our core business) and arranging travel and accommodation services to and in the chosen honeymoon place. Weddings are complex affairs with different categories of people with diverging needs. This being the case, we shall aim at having a permanent team dedicated to thinking out wedding scenarios, coming up with the best wedding activities and seeing to it that in any wedding which we work on, not chance for error will exist. This team will be our flagship since weddings are expected to provide our largest business share.
Funerals & Wakes
In organizing these, our most major concern will be caring for the feelings of the bereaved. This is a market segment that is very sensitive and as such most events firms maintain a safe distance from it. Nina events will strive to use the sympathetic angle to try to tap into this market. The main angle will be in the accommodation for guests from far away areas as well as easing the burden of playing host from the shoulders of the bereaved. It is believed that once the notion catches on, people will see the need to relax and let professionals handle affairs during such trying times. Obviously, our target will be bereaved family but more specifically those whose immediate relations to the deceased are working, schooling or incapacitated by disease.
Organization and ManagementNina events will be a sole proprietorship at the onset. It is envisaged that in the not so far away future, more shareholders will be incorporated into the venture to make it a private limited company (PLC). The business will be a legal entity and will be licensed according to all local, state and federal requirements. Our attorneys will be charged with the duty of ensuring full compliance with legal requirements.
The firm will be under a president who will double up as the chief Executive officer and director. Initially, the proprietor will take up this responsibility so that the business can take the image the proprietor has in mind. There will be four departments namely; events, catering, marketing and human resource cum accounts. These departments will each be headed by a manager who will be required to have attained a degree and at least 3 years experience in event planning or hotel operations in a senior position. The departmental heads will be expected to initiate, supervise and actualize all activities in their dockets as defined in their job descriptions which rhyme with the department titles.
