Global issue: The way technology is essential to our every day life

Introduction

It is important to understand and focus on how everyday life changes over time in regard to technology. Changes in technology constitute a significant aspect, of changes in daily life as well as, the environmental impact on everyday-life activities. In the global perspective, the nature of the market economy is fundamentally to generate continuous technological change. This is a phenomenon that is normally discussed from the angle of business and production. Rivalry between different firms results in continued efforts to produce commodities in a cheaper way by means of innovative production technologies. In the current context, the most remarkable innovations concern services and products sold for consumption. In several cases, only minor changes in design are applied, while in other cases, far-reaching changes are implemented based on the accessibility of new technology (Arthur 25). This paper will focus on how technology is a global issue and how it affects contemporary life.

WHY TECHNOLOGY IMPORTANT

In the literal sense, at every instant in time, humanity is encircled by technology. This is regardless of whether one is resting or working, since one would always use technology. The value of technology in effect lies in its widespread use and omnipresence. Considering the speed at which technology is moving forward, it is essential to understand its value so that humanity can abreast with the changing times. Technology deeply influences the contemporary fast life. It is technology that has sped up the contemporary lifestyles, and has brought remote locations nearer and transformed the planet into a global village.  Following the dawn of electricity, technology was utilized to introduce electricity into households in all corners of the globe. The world would light up in the darkness as a result of the successful generation as well as distribution of electricity. The appliance of technology resulted to the utilization of renewable energy sources in the generation of electricity. This included renewable sources of energy such as solar energy, hydropower, and wind energy among several others (Sudweeks 101).

Technology has brought about an enormous change in architecture and civil engineering. The dissimilar nature of constructions such as mobile homes, modular homes, and earthquake-resistant structures could be built due to the advancement in technology. Technology has immensely transformed communication. It is essential to mention that computer networking has immensely facilitated the ease of conveyance of information across the world. The Internet in this case, has grown to be an excellent platform of communication. Satellite communications have resulted in constructive changes in the entertainment industry. Channels all over the world are currently accessible on television sets in any place all over the globe (Arthur 36). Technology has introduced automation in critical and lengthy processes. Automation of processes brings in speed and efficiency which save time and human effort. Artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, and robotics are the comparatively recent additions in the technology field. It is evident that, technology has the potentiality of transforming the face of the globe (Sudweeks 102).

Dangers of Technology in the Long Term. Despite the numerous benefits of technology, there are some dangers that are imminent in the long term. An appropriate example is Molecular manufacturing (MM), which is a major breakthrough, equivalent to the Industrial Revolution. This technology has the potentiality to disrupt numerous aspects of politics and society. The influence of this technology may compel rival nations to enter an unstable and disruptive arms race. Surveillance devices and weapons could be manufactured in small sizes, relatively cheap, more powerful, and easily available.

Scientists are at present introducing genetic substance into organisms to modify, create and influence changes in living animals and plants. These radical modifications generate specific, advantageous traits that may never evolve by natural means. However, this practice of genetic manipulation provides scientists with the ability to generate any trait that they desire or repress natural traits that they do not desire. There are numerous reasons this twisted genetic manipulation may humanity. For instance, in 1989, a Japanese firm was compelled to pay out $2 billion in settlement to thousands of American citizens. This was following illnesses from genetically modified versions of L-Tryptophan (Stockelova 261).

CONCLUSION

This paper concludes that it is critical to acquire a robust understanding of the negative as well as constructive features of technology. It ought to be noted that technological power and efficiency is an ambivalent accomplishment. However, the dangers of technology in the long term are inherent. Technological revolutions are usually inclined to generate fresh demands for broader geographical capacity, combined with wide-ranging political assimilation of the globe.

Explanation of Racism

Explanation of Racism

Racism is the distinction of humanity through biological groups in terms of practices and actions; the attributes of a certain group show the superiority or the inferiority oh the group. The ideology of race in America and Europe came up due to the rise of science. Much of the inspiration for the growth of science was credited to the 18th century period, Enlightment. Even after the declaration of independence and America was from then known as United States of America, under the veil racism still existed and was highly manifested; liberty and freedom were the ironical terms used which covered the covert agenda and reality of things. Racial world view in America posed as a great challenge to several communities that were victims of racism (Smedley, 2). Feeling positive about ones group in significant to an individual; however but it can lead to groups having the notion that certain ethnic groups are inferior and that discrimination towards them is acceptable. Freedom to read and write was denied, they became subjects to violence, and racism initiated colonization and slavery; these are some of the implementations of racism in America.

The blacks in America became subject to racism and this has had a huge effect on their lives, below will get to see what effects racism had on them.

“Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night”, by Dylan Thomas is a poem that addresses the plea from the son to a dying father. The poem is being addressed to the speaker’s father by the narrator and this is can be seen from the last stanza when narrator says that “And you, my father, there on the sad height, with / curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray” (lines 16-17). In this context the “you” refers to the the speakers father, an individual who is surely about to die. In this poem the speaker is seriously concerned about his father who is about to die, he really wants his father to evidently fight against death and to continue being alive as long has he can. The main aim of the narrator is to encourage his father that all men usually do face the same end, but they do fight for their lives so that they can live long, however difficult it maybe. The thesis of the poem is that the “old age should burn and rave at a close of a day” and the speaker has mention this in (line 2). Thomas has been able to categorized men into four different groups so that he can be in the position to persuade his father that however the consequences he has faced in life, there is always genuine reason behind why to live. Thomas uses this category to address and give him no any excuses regardless of what he has done in life.

The poem address that death is a natural process and a rite of passage that do exists and as wise as they are, they should accept it, However, Thomas tells us that regardless of its existence they have to fight against death simply because they are still having some feelings that they have no yet gained enough of the reputation and their words have bared no lighting. They want to hold on life and to make sure that they leave a mark, Thomas stated the poem by giving reference such as wisemen, and then went to good men, and then wildmen then lastly gravamen. The main reason why he used this kind of progression was to address and to see his father’s main character lie.

In the poem the word goodnight is referred to us the symbol for death, the narrator has spent most of the poem giving details to address reasons why all different men do “Rage, rage against the dying of light” despite the reason being that all these men know that death is a must, no one is ready and willing to go. There is still more they want to have done in the world and to rectify the past mistake they did so that they “Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night”. The speaker has been in the position to explain how men refuse to face death just in order to show some indication to his father that he should also be able to resist and fight against death and to live as long as possible, and he indicates that this is the right thing to be done by all individuals who wants to remain alive and to live long, hence in the last stanza he tells his father to do so.

The speaker affirms that the old men at their ends of lives should be in place to resist and fight against death so strongly, that they are only entitled to live under the sun as a kicking and screaming individuals, not having fears that they will have to die at one point. Towards the end of the poem we have confirmed that the speaker has got some personal stake on the issue because his own father is dying.
