Distance learning is the study mode void of the immediate or constant supervision of the instructors or the lecturers; it benefits from the guidance of tutorials and planning of a tutorial organization. Distance learning is where the student is far away from the tutors, and the institution of learning, the model lacks the interactivity or face-to-face contact between the student and the tutor (Banas & Emory, 1998).
Modern communication media play an indispensable role in ensuring that that the tutorials of the tutor and counseling system reach the student in local centers or any other place where the student can access that medium in real time. Distance learning no doubt has a value to the busy and well-motivated adults because they can access the learning environment at the comfort of their homes.
Distance learning day in day out is attracting so many learners across the globe who are either busy to attend the classes in person or lack the financial capability to do so. The learner is supposed to have a reliable media through which the tutors can access them (Carr, 2000). One of the common media that is in distance learning is the internet that connects all the places in the world. The tutor may also decide to use phone calls or the radio depending on the agreement they make with their students.
In this case, the study pack will revolve around the continuing education in the field of shoulder dystocia. Shoulder dystocia is a complication that occurs at childbirth such that the after-birth of the unborn baby, the baby’s anterior shoulders remain dislodged behind the mother’s pubic bone in the vagina. Shoulder dystocia is the most anxiety provoking emergencies that the health professional encounter in the maternity ward. It results from the impaction of the posterior shoulder on the sacral promontory. So many factors influence the shoulder dystocia inclusive of the mother’s health and the extraction mechanism used during delivery.
The learning program in question is the continuing education. Continuing education here means that the students are professionals seeking to enhance their knowledge about shoulder dystocia. Shoulder dystocia captures our interests, as it is the most challenging emergencies that tend to trouble physicians and midwifes. The learning resources are within the confines of the system, on the internet or any other open learning resources as specified by that institution. Interestingly, the open learning institution module is common to many colleges and universities and any middle-level institution offering post-high school studies. Any educational institution that wishes to offer distance learning can access it by buying the software and programme the site to suit their demands or as per the requirements of the course (Li, Tsai & Tsai, 2008).
At the end of this program, we are going to know how we are going to handle different situations leading to shoulder dystocia. 3. Describe the learning program

Complications of shoulder dystocia: in this case we are going to consider some of the dangers ta woman is likely to incur after she has been affected by shoulder dystocia such as the uterine rupture, symphyseal separation postpartum hemorrhage, recto-vaginal fistula and brachial plexus palsy.
Reduction maneuvers: this will cover on how the nurse should respond to the state of shoulder dystocia such as call for help, McRobert maneuver. Suprapubic pressure, enter maneuver and removal of the posterior arm.
Simulation case: comprises of case studies that will help in the analysis of the shoulder dystocia. The nurses in the delivery room are ready to deliver the patient. It will also consider what the labor and delivery nurses are going to do? The doctors at this stage are having hard time to deliver this patient.
Posttest: consider some of the risk factors for shoulder dystocia, post-delivery complications, and components of a shoulder dystocia.
There must be the development of a portfolio, in a way that it tests all the students across the board. The portfolio will act as a platform through which the instructor and the students are supposed to check their quality work there. The lecturer can trace the student who never did the assignment or test. The portfolio will thereafter send the information to the instructor for assessment and grading. Therefore, distance learning will put the nurses to task and have the course done. Every student who is in the program must have a portfolio that will enable the tutors to do pre-and –post-tested with a standardized way of an assessment that will educational functioning level.

5. Literature on shoulder dystocia

McFarland (1998) argued that microsomic infants of diabetic mothers have larger shoulder that makes it impossible for a kid not to get out of the mother’s vagina. Anthropomorphic characteristics explain the propensity for shoulder dystocia amongst this population. This characteristic makes the fetus grow abnormally in their shoulders thus making it difficult for a child to pass through vagina.

The Trail of Kyle Rittenhouse
The shooting of Mr. Jacob Blake, a black man, by a white officer is what ignited the protests in Kenosha on the night of Kyle Rittenhouse’s multiple shootings. The officer’s name was Rusten Sheskey. He shot Blake seven times in his back leaving him wounded and paralyzed. The event came barely six months after the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, an issue that sparked countrywide and global protests against police brutality, racial profiling and the killing of black people. On that fateful day, police officers were responding to a distress call involving domestic issues in the area. The officers arrived at the home and tried to arrest Mr. Blake. Mr, Blake seemed to be resisting arrest but that does not mean the police officer was justified to shoot him. Mr. Blake walked away and was heading to his car holding a knife. Officer Sheskey, a white police officer shot him as he was holding his knife as he was climbing into his S.U.V. The seven bullets fired left him crumpled upon the ground. It was this shooting that led to the protests that took place later that night and the days that followed in Kenosha. The demonstrations led to the destruction of property in the cities uptown and downtown neighborhoods. Worth noting, various businesses were affected as protesters and armed militia partook in looting, arson, and destruction of property.
Kyle Rittenhouse’s motivation for coming to Kenosha in the middle of protests of Jacob Blake’s police shooting was to assist in maintaining order and protecting businesses. Kyle is only 17 years old and he lived in Antioch, a small town near Wisconsin border in Illinois with his mother. Despite living in another state, Kyle Rittenhouse’s father lived in the city of Kenosha and had once held a position as a lifeguard there. According to his social media posts, Kyle Rittenhouse was an advocate of the blue lives matter movement. In essence, Kyle pushed for the agendas for police and supported their cause to maintain order during racial protests which mostly attracted a black crowd. Additionally, Kyle had held a cadet position in a program for young individuals aspiring to be police officers. He owned a military-style semi-automatic rifle purchased by his friend. This is the same rifle he was just doing his job. He mentioned that part of his job was to keep the people safe and protect them. He said that he would not hesitate to put himself in harm’s way to come to the aid of people that were in danger during the shooting. Kyle Rittenhouse, in an interview he had with The Daily Caller, said that the only reason he had his gun on that night was to protect himself and that he also carried a medical kit with him. However on the contrary, by the end of the night, Kyle Rittenhouse ended up doing the opposite of what he said he would; he killed two people and injured one person. In essence, Kyle Rittenhouse was in Kenosha that night in response to a Facebook movement that was calling upon armed militants to help protect the city. Kyle Rittenhouse was part of the group of people that showed up on that night to lend a helping hand to the National Guard members and police who seemed to be outnumbered by the protesters. From where I stand, Kyle Rittenhouse’s motivation for being at the protest had everything to do with the perception of crime in society. Without a doubt, there is a perception in society that black people are troublesome and that they tend to result to violence than their white counterparts. Systemic racism, unequal treatment, and a biased justice system are at the center of problems that black people face in the United States. Black people always find themselves at odds with the law because of the perception that society has formed against them; that black people are criminals. This perception is invalid because, at the end of the day, that is all it is; a perception. Society has led us to believe that black people are criminals; if they are not dealing drugs, they are thieves or involved in illegal and shady dealings. The truth of the matter is that the only reason that Kyle Rittenhouse went to Kenosha on that night is to incite more violence against protesters who were primarily black.
The culture conflict theory, also known as the cultural deviance theory holds that crime results from a clash of values between diverse social groups who hold conflicting ideas of acceptable behavior (Väyrynen, 23). In essence, social groupings tend to have different ideas and beliefs which conflict with one another, and at times the conflict results to crime. Without a doubt, I believe that cultural conflict theory applies to the choices and actions made by Kyle Rittenhouse on the night of the fatal shooting in Kenosha. This is because two social groups namely white and black people are involved in the conflict. The white people uphold white supremacy and they view themselves to be superior. They look down on and discriminate against their colored counterparts because they think they are better than them. On the other hand, black people feel oppressed by white people and the white policies. This is what leads them to protest when their kind are shot for no reason as they believe in equality for all. This leads to a clash of cultures insiting violence against the two groups.
I disagree with Ryan Balch’s statement that the militia and protesters were individuals stuck in a situation and trying to do the best they can with it. I cannot fathom the basis of his argument at all. I believe there that the protesters were justified in protest as it is their constitutional right. I do not support protestors destroying property and injuring people. The only violation they made that night was defying curfew and destroying property. On the other hand, I do not support the actions of armed militia. I believe they were mere opportunists who saw a chance to cause trouble and took it because they were being backed by the police officers.

Dissociative Personality Disorder
Dissociative personality disorder is a psychological disorder in which a person has two or more personalities within him or her. These distinct personalities take control of the person’s body at different times and at that time, they have total control. It is more commonly multiple personality disorder, which more aptly captures the description of having several or multiple personalities within one person (Bach & Sellbom 490). It is quite an interesting disorder as the patient turns into a completely different person depending on who is in control. Dissociative personality disorder is characterized by several symptoms, and there are outlined several DSM-V criteria for its diagnosis.
This disorder is a common coping mechanism. A person may develop alternate personalities to escape a traumatic event or memory which they have experienced. The person pictures themselves in a different situation and with time they might find that this dissociation from reality has morphed to become an entirely new personality within their body. DID is associated with abuse such as physical or emotional abuse in the patient’s past, primarily emanating from childhood development years. They can lose memory in unexplained ways (Morton 325), which is the time which alternate personalities take control of their body.
Some of the symptoms of the disorder include the disruption of a person’s identity. During the time in which one of the other personalities takes charge, there are marked differences in the behaviour, perception and reactions of the person. This will be noticed by those around them who will often be quite alarmed by the profound transformation within a short period. Another symptom is the loss of memory. A patient will have memory gaps that they are unable to explain. This can be exacerbated by forgetting important information (Morton 319).
Stress is a symptom that is often caused by the realization that there is something wrong. A person feels very frustrated for example if they find out that they cannot remember things that happened to them in a considerable period. They will also have difficulty in interactions with family, friends, and workmates, among others close to them. A student may go to school and have absolutely no recollection of being taught a concept, and an employee might completely forget a work assignment. Such lapses are frustrating.
As per the DSM-V, the first criterion of diagnosis is the presence of two or more distinct identities. This is detected by changes in behaviour that can either e reported by others around or even by the patient. The second criterion is that the person has episodes of amnesia in which they cannot recall events that happened to them (Bach &Sellbom 492). The third criterion is that the person must have their normal daily function impaired or hampered by the disorder, and this causes them suffering.
The fourth criterion of diagnosing dissociative personality disorder is that the patient’s behaviour is not a part of any religious or cultural practice; their reaction is not out of choice. The fifth criterion is that the symptoms must not have arisen as a result of the consumption of substances such as drugs or alcohol, or any other medical condition. These diagnostic steps are essential in identifying dissociative personality disorder and to come up with measures that can be taken in its treatment. This disorder is often distressing to both the patient and to those around them, especially before diagnosis when they do not understand what is happening.
