Evolution of Management Thought

Evolution of Management Thought

This work uses the Theory X and Theory Y to discuss and their application in running AIESEC, a non-profit organization that provides leadership experience for students. According to Adetule (2011), Theory X assumes that employees are lazy and would refuse to work if they had a choice. This theory also assumes that employees must be led by strict managers who impose severe consequences if work is not done. The theory assumes that employees have no motivation and must be pushed by the management. It is effective in managing AIESEC because it is a large organization and employees often feel reluctant to work and spend their money. Management therefore needs to be strict on employees to ensure the survival and continuity of the organization. The managers must also assume that employees are not working willingly and thus must ensure constant and effective supervision. This means that they have to come up with goals and targets that will keep all employees on their toes. They must also ensure they have an effective communication and reporting system to be able to manage all the member committees from different countries in the world. AIESEC managers must ensure they are motivated so that they can motivate and encourage their employees. This means that unless managers are motivated, employees will lag behind and produce poor quality services to member countries of AIESEC. The success of the organization therefore depends on the managers efforts.

Theory Y assumes that employees are self-driven, ambitious and motivated. They are aggressive and take responsibilities with gladness and view these responsibilities as achievements. Employees are willing to work and make decisions as well take responsibility for these decisions. They are also committed to work and enjoy taking responsibility for achieving certain tasks in the organization.Managers who use this theory believe that employees are cooperative and willing to work, as long as the environment is favorable (Adetule, 2011). It is effective in an organization like AIESEC because managers have an easy time. Managers in AIESEC have to create trust in their employees and thus include them in decision making. The managers allow the employees to feel that they belong in the organization. Managers in AIESEC can make their work easier by letting employees work towards achieving the organization goals.

For effective management, it is essential that managers incorporate both theories. This is because employees may be motivated but lack of supervision makes them lazy. They will therefore end up becoming lazy and will pretend to start working when the supervisors are in sight. This means that the organization will not meet its objectives in time and will provide poor quality service. This means that managers in AIESEC must be able to provide their employees with the right working conditions. These conditions include trust, involving employees in decision making as well as delegating important tasks to the employees. The managers must however be careful to supervise employees as they carry out their responsibilities. This ensures that they provide quality services to member countries. Using theory X only creates a rift between employees and managers, which often leads to low productivity. In using theory Y only, creates too much familiarity between employees and managers and this compromises the quality of production and undermines the responsibility of management. Effective management requires a balance in the use of both theories. AIESEC is a non-profit organization that has made it through the past 64 years. This is because he managers of the organization discovered the value of implementing both theories to ensure the success of the business. It has seen to the motivation of both employees and managers, and consequently the satisfaction of customers across the globe because of good quality service.

Evolution Of Law Enforcement

Evolution Of Law Enforcement

Law enforcement is an organized imposition of the law in a society, govern its implementation and punishing those who go astray. In US the evolution of law enforcement has grown by a significant margin in the 19th century and has been effected greatly by technology advancement. Various events led to shaping and enhancing evolution in law implementation are not limited to civil war and cold war among others. These contributed to growth of policing tactics.

Civil war

These was the war 1963 to late 1960s. It was the deadliest war in United States of America that left over 600,000 people died in combat of the Civil War or died from diseases that emanated from the struggle.

Impacts of civil war

This war being the first modern war in terms of the equipment and tactics used which were not limited to hot air balloons, land mines, advanced rifles, introduction of the first machine gun. Trench warfare, ironclad ship and the manufacture of submarines were stated.

The military received valuable education via semi-formal support systems of schooling that armed them with a unique quality education in military art and science. This has led to improvement of communication and training whereby internet, cellphones, laser lights has been evolved by the needs of improvement in policing.

The law enforcers embarked on research on use of less deadly force which would help in operations. The wireless video camera embedded in a working flashlight, worder gadgets e.g. infokall are among the technology ideas gained in the operation. This were implemented later.

Improvements in automobile sector. Fast and highly improved automobiles such as fast moving vehicles that are strong to operate in different types of loads. Moreover, war planes and jets and fighting jets were also improved to ensure they provided maximum service to the military during the war.

Cold war

The cold war refers to the state of political and military tensions between powers in unite states and the Sovient union and Warsaw pact. The super power countries possessed nuclear weapons and other deadly weapons and threated with mutually assured destruction which they met indirectly. This led to psychological strains among the soldier and made them every day to think of making powerful powers that could make their rivals to be afraid of attacking.

Impacts

The government money was being used unwisely since they were used in purchasing the weapons so that the government kept its superiority powers over the countries that were against them. This is how the upkeep and expansion of the Army used a lot of money than improvement of the economy.

Significant development in Intelligent Transportation System has evolved strongly and are brought online. The agencies involved in this did use the techniques that are not obsolete, hence enhancing good flow of information to various places. This improved the public safety.

DISCUSSION 8, origin of human beings

DISCUSSION 8, origin of human beings

Introduction

Human beings are believed to be from the same origin. God created all humans in his image and his own likeness; therefore, every living human is believed to be descendants of Adams and Eve. Therefore, the aspect racial categorization is illogical and incoherent to any living being that believes in creation. The color of the skin and hair texture should not be some of the factors that can be used to distinguish humans from one another. Every person deserves the right to live anywhere without being discriminated due to the nature of the skin tinge. People should mix with one another freely and avert possible changes of phasing out others due to race or origin.

It is incoherent and illogical to divide the human being into racial categorization. Imperative of the fact that, all humans are equal despite the decency factor; humans must learn to live peacefully together. Racial segmentation lacks vivid dimensional support from any judgmental being. People should learn to appreciate themselves for who they are and avoid instances where they discriminate each other by the nature of their skin colors and origins. Racial discrimination brings about hatred; humans learn to hate one another once they adopt the racial divide.

United States are dominated by racial decimation; this is due to lack of societal goals and values. The people in this society discriminate one another racially depending on the color of the skin and hair texture. There are six racial categorization in US; this includes; American Indian or Alaskan Native, Asian, Black or African American, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, and the Whites. Racial divide in US is based on the origin of an individual and the color of the skin. American Indian is believed to originate from North, Central or South America. This racial group believes in community attachment and maintains high profile of tribal affiliation. Asian group of race originates from; South-East Asia or Indian sub-continent. This racial group identifies them as the minority group of the society. Blacks are believed to be an association of the African racial groups. They are considered as the African racial group due to the nature of their origin. The Whitish racial group is believed to have an origin in the following regions; Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. This racial group identifies as the most superior.

The black racial group is the most confusing group. This is due to the simple fact of being believed to have originated from the different racial groups in the African continent. In the case, this racial group could be given an identity then every black residing in the United States could claim this origin. African continent is divided into different cultures; this allows them to divide themselves into racial groups due to their widespread differences in cultures. From archaeological facts, every living human being evolved from an African ancestor. These guarantee a valid claim in respect of being associated to the ancestor.

Racial segmentation is detrimental to peaceful co-existence of a societal setup. It undermines progress as one racial group do not relate to the other peacefully. Therefore, segmentation due to skin color and texture of the hair should be a useful factor in developing peaceful relation amongst one another.
