Private equity managers fear tax hit
According to the financial times articles, private equity fund managers in the United States were worried on how their incomes were taxed. Other fund managers tried to rewrite agreements with their investors so that they may protect themselves from any taxation in their salaries. Many of the private equity fund managers and other people in the equity industry feared that the tax code could be changed if Barrack Obama was elected as the president. Nevertheless, private equity funds investors and limited partners have fought back to stop these tax code changes (Fifield & McCrum, 2012).
Many general partners in the equity industry receive incomes from carried interest deals. This is typically valued about 20 percent of the fund’s yearly profit. The carried interest is usually charged at a rate of 15 percent on all capital gains. The Obama administration proposed different changes that could see carried interest being charged equally as incomes, normally 35 percent. Due to these possibilities in changing taxation, many general partners introduced general clauses in the partnership agreements that would enable them to change the terms incase the tax regime was altered (Fifield & McCrum, 2012).
On the other hand, general partners stated that their investors showed minimum interest in their tax rates and had declined requests for controlling the industry in case tax breaks emerged. This tax breaks benefited buyout groups only. According to Steve Judge, premier of the Private Equity Growth Capital Council, “the political rhetoric surrounding the presidential election certainly brought attention to many aspects of the tax code including carried interest.” If treatments of capital gain could be accessible to the individuals who have money to invest, a policy putting higher values on financial contributions than hard work and vision would be advanced (Fifield & McCrum, 2012).
Europe’s dividend tax policy bites
Due to the ruling made by the European court in France on dividend taxation policies, exchange trade fund providers and securities lending agents are facing a lot of problems in their revenues. The court stated that France dividend taxation policies favoring domestic funds, was different to the European Union’s laws on the free capital movement. This resulted to France not taxing dividend payments differently from funds in the domestic French investment and non domestic funds. Countries such as Spain, Germany and Belgium had the same rules on dividend payments favoring domestic funds. Josh Galper a managing principal in a financial company named Finadium, stated that these countries needed to alter their policies on tax (Flood, 2012).
Kit Dickson stated that European Union countries charging different tax rates on dividends for non resident and resident funds after the ruling by the European Court of Justice were in danger of not complying with the law. These differences in treating taxes of dividends for the local and international investors helped in creating a dividend arbitrage market estimated to be $600 million yearly. In this dividend arbitrage business, foreign venture capitalists facing potential tax charges lend their equity holdings before the dividend is due to local investors who do not face the same tax liabilities. Once the dividend has been paid and stock returned, the two parties are allowed to share the savings on tax (Flood, 2012).
Obama, Boehner Open to Budget Bargain
Lately, House speaker John Boehner and President Obama motioned willingness in compromising tax positions that led to stalemate of the budget in United States. Discussions on how to avoid fiscal cliff in the budget, spending cuts and big tax increase was planned. After president Obama won the election, he asserted that tax was supposed to be increased to the wealthy individuals. On the other hand, he called on the house to authorize a senate bill immediately. The bill was to prolong the Bush – era tax cuts on household incomes under $200,000 yearly for single people and lower than $250,000 for couples. According to a statement made by president Obama, he affirmed that if people are serious on reducing budget deficit, spending cuts and revenues must be combined (Lee & Hook, 2012).
By doing so, the wealthy Americans will be needed to pay more in their taxes. The house speaker was open to the deal that raised tax revenues but not tax rates. The statements from Obama and Boehner show that elements could embrace new limits on deducting taxes for wealthy people and businesses. In this 2013 budget, president Obama has various proposals: the first one is reducing tax deductions for families getting more than $250,000 from the present 35% limit to 28%. He is also proposing to lift tax rates on the investment incomes of these families and returning old limits on the tax breaks for the rich people that were suspended during the Bush – era (Lee& Hook, 2012).

Tartuffe Reflection
In the play by Moliere, a lot of satire, which is in the form of religious hypocrisy and fanaticism is witnessed. All the characters in the play have a key role, but the main characters are Orgon and Tartuffe. It is important to first know the meaning of the word satire in order to fully understand what goes on in the play. Satire refers to any literary work that makes use of humor in order to point out any foolishness that exists in human nature or a person. Also, religious hypocrisy can be termed as being false or self-defined assumptions by an individual. There are many scenes and examples in the play whereby Tartuffe exposed humor and satire through his religious hypocrisy.
In French, the name or word Tartuffe means being a hypocrite, and this is quite evident as the play unfolds. At the opening scenes of the play, one learns that Tartuffe used his cunning ways to receive some piety from the household that belonged to Orgon. In Act One, it seems that Orgon had already made up his mind that he wanted Tartuffe to marry his daughter. However, Orgon’s son known as Damis is aware of the fact that Tartuffe is a pretentious man and does not want to marry Orgon’s daughter, Mariane. Damis claims that “I think Tartuffe’s against it, and that he’s been urging Father to withdraw his blessing”. It is quite satirical that Orgon approves of the proposed union, but other people know Tartuffe’s true nature and thus opposed to the union.
Tartuffe is a character that has been extensively been discussed and analyzed by all the other characters in the play. They have realized that he is just but a loathsome hypocrite that pretends that he quite a religious fanatic and zealot. It is quite unfortunate that Orgon a wealthy man and his mother do not realize this fact and fall prey into his false illusion. In another scene in the play, Tartuffe went to Orgon’s house with the intentions of being a vagrant. He does not waste time in masquerading to be a religious individual and is able to stay in Orgon’s house for a long time. Organ is a fool by all means as he is easily influenced by Tartuffe to do everything for him. He believes that by following the instructions of a religious man, he will surely go to heaven. Orgon is not able to realize the falsehood being displayed by Tartuffe as his religious beliefs have blinded him from reality.
The character known as Cleante defends the view presented by the King as being reasonable, as seen in the last scenes of the play. He argues that God wants people to enjoy their time on earth as it is a gift as opposed to enjoying matters of the flesh. However, Orgon is facing a mid-life resentment because his children are benefiting from various social pleasures. It is no wonder that he quickly gets brainwashed into the disciplinary rigor that is quite mindless. He fails to use common sense as well as reason as he wants to uphold his faith. The combination of pure faith elevation and rigorism towards bodily and social pleasure condemns the function of a human. This shows that the French society and culture suffered from religious hypocrisy. People placed a lot of emphasize on religion to the point whereby they became vulnerable to hypocrites such as Tartuffe. Indeed, Moliere proved that true religion should focus on reason, will, desire and sense.

Introduction
The fight for power during the adaptation of the forms of social leadership has been ongoing for a long time. Influential leaders seek to expand their territory through the colonization of their neighboring countries. Colonization is defined as having control of a country in all aspects of life. This involves imposing ideological theories that change the dynamics of the new country. This form of dominion took turn in the 1930s. Countries resulted in using a new form of colonization. This consisted of passing of ideologies such as capitalism and socialism. The key players that were responsible for spreading these ideologies were the Russia and the United States. Russia was a communist state that supported the socialism. The United States on the other hand supported democracy (Busch, 2001).
The purpose of this paper is to provide an analysis of the current events and us diplomacy. The paper looks at the events that led to the creation of diplomacy between different countries. This is seen through the study of the cold war. The paper looks at several subheadings that summarize the entire topic at hand. The paper further provides a concluding sentence which talks on the way forward.
Events that led to the Cold War concerning the United States and the USSR
Socialism embraces the notion of a one party state. This limits the rights and privileges of the citizens in that all government has full authority of the country. Another significant factor to note is the economic situation is a communist state. Individuals are not allowed to acquire a substantial amount of wealth. All members are supposed to work for the common good of the country as opposed to individual needs. Democracy on the other hand involves encouraging the existence of multiparty states. Multiparty states allows for the democracy to prevail due to the alternative parties. The states allow for the existence of a free market which in turn encourages investment. Democratic states recognize the rights of their citizens and focus on improving the livelihood of individuals. The difference of social systems thus created conflict between the two sides. Countries were forced to choose between the two creating two conflicting blocks (Cowley, 2006).
One of the direct results of these systems was the existence of the first and Second World War. These occurrences resulted in the loss of lives of more than 20 million people across the globe. To avoid a repeat of the events, the Unites States, under the leadership of President Reagan formed Doctrines to control the situation. The doctrine involved the supervision of countries that had earlier placed emphasis on the investment of nuclear weapons. This would reduce the rate of insecurity in on an international scale. The doctrine applied to all sovereign countries thus returning the dignity of all the countries (Young, & Kent, 2004).
Current relationship between the United States and the USSR
The relationship between the United States and the Russia has not always been in good terms. The main reason for the conflict is the credited to the difference in the social system ideologies. The current relationship between the two countries has changed vastly. One of the reasons for this is the failure of socialism as a governing system. The USSR disenfranchised into different countries making it less powerful. This was followed by the creation of a weak Russian state due to the lack of motivation of its citizens. Russia turned the situation around by embracing some aspects of democracy. Russia is to date one of the most successful countries in the world due to the improvement of their economy. The United States gained immensely after the formation of the doctrine. These effects are still felt today in that the country has the most successful economy. The democratic system has become the most recognized system of government. This has in turn reflected on the United States as a super power. The country takes advantage of their new found status by forming alliances. These alliances have improved the economic situation of the country. Both countries have formed alliances of their own which in turn has improved their relationship.
The relationship of the United States with China
Apart from the USSR, other countries embraced the communist system of government. A good example is china who has been advocates for the communism way of life. The country still maintains some aspects of the system. The selection of China is ideal due to its same position as one of the leading economies.
Compare and contrast the two countries
One of the factors the two countries have in common is their emphasis on business and economic growth. Both the United States and China control the world market due to their position in the global issues. China is the number one manufacturing country due to its large working population. The country exports their merchandise to more than 100 countries. This is reflective on their economy in that they continue to record profits. The United States is the biggest supporter of Chinas economy. The country imports various goods due to the population’s high consumption rate. Both countries thus complement each other making them a good example of diplomacy and tolerance (Ramet & Ingebritsen, 2002).
The United States focuses on forming alliances so as to improve its economic growth. This enables the country to use their situation to their advantage. China uses a different way of forming alliances in that the government takes control of a large percentage of the business deals which displays their communist culture.
How the US has changed its relations with the rest of the world
The US has changed the way it approaches its relationships with different countries. The country is known for its aggressive nature in terms of creating alliances and investing. This is seen in the countries search for oil and international contracts. The country has as a result secured itself enemies with different countries. The bombing of the country on September 11th changed the dynamics making the country vulnerable. The country reacted by changing its policies to protect the citizens. This involves reducing the aggressive nature that the country has in terms of investment. America still strives to maintain the relationships it has with the rest of the world. The methods of diplomacy will continue to change due to the change in society. The country is thus faced with the challenge of improving on their diplomacy skills so as to avoid further conflict (Edwards, 2005).
Conclusion
Different countries cannot agree on every notion that is introduced. This often leads to conflict due to the status that comes with having control. The United States is one of the super powers in the globe. This is owed to its role during the two world wars and the cold wars. This position comes with advantages and disadvantages. It is thus essential to analyze the current events concerning diplomacy so as to improve on the relations between different countries.
