Please describe what, how and when Apple did the right thing and what, how, and when Apple did the thing right. (i.e. provide a discussion of apple’s strategic strategies and operational/ competitive strategies)

It is also very clear that the company also made most of their sales to other businesses and consumers via online retails stores. This is considered as a strategic strategy to ensure that they make higher sales. I consider this is what apple did right with regards to small and mid-sized business sector. In addition, I also note that the other issue that the company took part in and is considered outstanding is the use of technology on education to help students and teachers to learn. This is a competitive advantage to Apple, as it gains prestige to other companies selling the same products. One of the right things that the company did right was to ensure that it undertaking educational training programs.

Over the years the company has been using technology to upkeep its training programs. For example, the company has been equipping its clients on how to use their products online.

The other concern that the company has been on the forefront is to ensure that it is able to meet the needs of the clients via marketing or promotional programs. It true that apple has improved its marketing capacity in order to meet the needs and demands of the customers. The other right thing that the company has done was to ensure that its staff were not laid offer in 2008-2009 global financial crisis, but to undertake as cross-pay cut amid all the employees.

The other case that Apple did right was to have on board various support services such as printed, software and online support as well as electronic manuals that offers secondary support service. This is considered as a marketing strategy. In addition, the company has varied employees with outstanding talents to ensure quality. I consider this step as a right or positive step.

1. Please describe a situation in which others with whom you were working as a team disagreed with your ideas. How did you deal with this situation? In retrospect, is there anything you would have done differently?

Disagreements in work environments are a common occurrence because of the social nature of the respective environments. The manner in which such disagreements are addressed has diverse impacts on the work place relations. One incidence that I openly disagreed with my team mates during work pertained to beating deadlines when whenever we had been allocated work. On this particular day, our immediate boss had allocated us tasks to ensure that the Food and Wine exhibition of Sun Village Wine Company was successful. We were allocated different tasks but were expected to meet strict deadlines. My team mates were less concerned about the need to beat deadlines and performed their duties slowly. The task pertained to undertaking research and preparing an integrated presentation regarding the products of the company. Each of us was given a product to research on and later compile the information into one presentation.

Personally, I found it very necessary to beat the deadline regardless of the fact that there was sufficient time before presentations. My reasoning was that this would allow us to undertake necessary revisions and ultimately come up with quality work. Besides, working within the specified time would allow us to handle other issues that were pending. My friends on the other hand felt they had sufficient time and there was no need to hurry. Since I was the team leader, I imposed my own deadlines and informed them that these had been changed by the boss. This made them to work harder and in the long run, the task was completed within the specified time. However, I would have consulted them and requested them to review their positions on the previous decisions. Negotiating in a bid to come up with a common stance is better than simply imposing.

Hello Rinald,

Interesting post.

I conquer with you that a sales budget is the most crucial step of laying the foundation of the business. However, I would like to add that a sales budget expression occurs in terms of the units of production and selling price in monetary terms. The sales budget aids in prediction of the amount of capital for business and the cash flow needed to sustain a smooth running of the business. Indeed, a sales budget is a prerequisite in sales quotas assignments to various segments of the business sales. The level of accuracy attained in the sales budget affects the entire budgeting process of the business. As such, inaccuracies in the preparation of the sales budget lead to jeopardizing of the rest of the budgeting process. In addition, a sales budget leads to the preparation of the production budget and manufacturing budget. These two budgets aid in cost identification and projection, inventory preparations, identification of production means, and the purchases needed (George 2008, pp12-18).

On sales revenue, it is indeed true that the income received from business operations in a given trading period constitutes sales revenue. However, projected sales revenue should aid in cost prediction for the business. In situations in which the cost predictions exceed the projected sales revenue, there is a need of cutting on the costs in order to attain a profit. Moreover, sales revenue plays a significant role in forecasting expenses and capital expenditure (George 2008, 43). However, since sales revenue may receive impacts from dynamics in the economy and loss of customers, there is a need of including these factors while forecasting sales revenue for a business.

Best Regards.
