Gilgamesh (Mesopotamia) – Head-strong, arrogant young king becomes a good and wise king through a process of searching and suffering.

The Old Testament (Palestine) – The central text of the Jewish faith, featuring the history and religious laws of the Hebrews.

The Iliad (Greece) – Epic poem dealing with the Greek siege and eventual conquest of the city of Troy.

The Aeneid (Rome) – Epic poem dealing with a band of Trojan warriors after the fall of Troy. Following their commander Aeneas, they succeed in conquering the Italian peninsula, leading to the eventual establishment of Rome.

Metamorphoses (Rome) – A collection of stories and legends from the length and breadth of the Roman Empire (from Europe to the Middle East).

The Bhagavad-Gita (India) – A central work of the Hindu faith. A warrior worries about the cost of warfare on his eternal soul.

The New Testament (Palestine) – The central text of the Christian faith, featuring the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth.

The Koran (Arabia) – The central text of the Islamic faith, transcribed from the oral revelations of the Prophet Muhammad.

Beowulf (Scandinavia) – The archetypal European medieval epic. A hero crosses the sea to slay a monster terrorizing a neighboring kingdom.

Don Quixote (Spain) – A mentally unstable Spanish nobleman decides to revive the days of knights and chivalry, centuries after the fact, by suiting up in his great-grandfather’s armor and riding out.

PART ONE: 2-3 pages

Description or statement of your research topic/ and a list of the main points you plan to cover (1 or more pages)

Explanation of the intersectional perspective using class reading(s)- specify readings, could begin with gender , but why not enough

What is intersectionality?

Why is it important?

How does it elaborate on social justice and the ways in which the groups you are looking at are denied privilege or given unearned privilege

How does your topic illustrate the intersectional perspective?

How does your research challenge views of more privileged groups? What is privilege? How does your research reveal oppression? Who do the different identities intersect?

What does your research contribute to our understanding of gender that a typical gender perspective misses?

.Why did you choose this topic? Does it relate to your life personally?

PART TWO: 10 pages

This is the main body of your research where you summarize, illustrate and document your main points.

I want you to find 5 main points— 5 mini sections of about 2 pages each. Or it can be 3 main points, 3 mini pages, as long as it ends up around 10 pages. Each section will state your main finding or discovery—and your supporting evidence— Supporting evidence for one of the 5 main points can be in the form of quotes from the literature, or data such as statistics you find, and or quotes from interviews that support your main point.

(you can put references in paranthesis, ie. if several writers are making the same point you can write in your paper:

or if a quote for the page (Krauss, 1993: 1)

For example, I wrote an article about the ways in which race, class and gender intersect in women’s environmental protests. I found that African American, Native American, and white working class women had similar and different ways of describing their involvement in environmental protests.

Question: In the monotheistic tradition, how is the idea of the saint alike and different from what we have seen in the idea of the hero? Use specific examples from the lives of Hebrew, Christian, and/or Islamic figures to document your assertions.(Subject:Humanities)

Solution: Monotheistic tradition means believing the concept of one God. Key religions in the world such as Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are being classified as monotheistic, and the preeminent examples of monotheists are Jesus, Mohammed prophet, Noah, Abraham and others. The idea of the saint and hero is alike in the sense that throughout their lives they have a purpose and they fight or live for the same. However, the idea of the saint is different from the idea of the hero in the way that a hero is being reminded by the people after the death which may happen due to the fight for the cause which he has been fighting throughout his life as a saint. Moreover heroes are people who keep on fighting as a saint until and unless the purpose is solved. For instance Jesus who kept on fighting for a cause (God is one and omnipresent) as a saint. But people realized his heroism only after he died while fighting for a cause which he had been reiterating since the beginning as a saint. Same is the case with Prophet Muhammad who was a firm believer of Allah and taught his followers the sayings of Quran. Throughout his life he taught his followers that God is one and universal. However, he became hero fought with people who were against God and after winning the purpose which led people to believe that there is only one God Allah.
