The great depression has far reaching social effect. The great depression can be explained as the great economic depression. It preceded the First World War and was very severe. The greatest social effect was the widespread poverty all over. The wide spread poverty during the period of economic crisis lead to skyrocketing of the rate of crime. This is because there were so many unemployed people who resorted to criminal activities so as to manage a meal. Many who were jobless resorted to petty theft. There was a rapid rise rate of prostitution. Women were desperate as they were unable to pay their bills and provide for their children so they resorted to prostitution (Shiller 98). Many family units became stronger during this crisis. This happened because those who were jobless found themselves at home with their families and the family ties became stronger. There were also business men who found themselves back at home to their wives and children as their business crashed. Thus the gap the jobs and business caused in the families units was closed. Other families units became weak because the bread winners could no longer provide for the families leading to frequent fights. Another social effect of great depression was homelessness. Without an income many people especially those who had mortgaged homes lost their homes and ended up in makeshift dwellings which had poor sanitation and heating. It was during this period of deprivation that a generation referred to as the greatest generation by a Tom Brokaw came to birth. This is the name used to refer to those who grew up in the United States during this period.
The thrift had a number of merits though the demerits outnumbered the merits. First and for most there were family units that were strengthened as a result of the great depression. This as explained above was due to joblessness and fall of business that brought back the businessmen and the jobless back to their homes. When the family is close knit and the ties are strong, a conducive environment for upbringing the children is produced. This also helps in producing god values in the society. It was at this period a generation that contributed positively to the society grew up. This generation participated in the war and with their political dissent they contributed positively to the society.
The role that the great depression plays in our social consciousness is the effects of poverty in a society and thus poverty must always be fought tooth and nail. Another thing is that moral decadency of a society is more inclined to poverty (Shiller 157). When people in a society are not able to meet their needs they are forced to do anything however immoral to meet their needs. People will result to theft which results to hatred and tension in a society. When the crime rate rises the levels of insecurity arise and people leave in fear. Worse the thief even resort to taking lives in their quest to steal from other people. This generally means that the society is in chaos and is disintegrated. Thus burden to fight poverty is placed on the society and the leadership so as to avoid a state of chaos in the society.
It is as important as it was 50 years ago. Nothing has changed. Poverty as similar effects on the society as it had 50 years ago. People will resort to theft and other petty crimes when they are poor even to date. Prostitution in the contemporary society is practiced mostly by women who are poor and wish to foot their bills. Thus the effects and the lesson of great depression are relevant even to date.
My generation may be a bit different since formal education has permeated all the corners of the society. Even though the economic depression may result to poverty it may not be as severe as many people have the formal education and though they main earn little compared to what they are supposed to earn they are still able to meet the basic needs. However the standards of living for my generation may go down. People already used to high standards of living may not be able to adapt easily.

Network Management Capstone
Network Management Capstone
This research article will generally focus on two networking management aspects thus the LAN equipment and aspects of security in networking management. The project in this case involves a national business that plans to establish a web-based presence, which will help the business expand its operations in the global market place. The business firm also plans to open a website along with several offices in specific cities across the globe. While opening the offices in the cities, the business firm will aim to consider the local custom of those specific countries. In doing this, the business firm plans to use Linuxin various locations where the business ventures are. Linux as an operating system would be the most effective operating system in this situation. Alternatively, the Linux operating systems runs on devices in which the operating systems are built into firmware and other embedded systems hence easing the business operations across all its websites and locations (Castelli, 2004).
In reference to the business and the planned new offices in different cities across the globe, the best computer networking management aspect to implement in this situation is the local area networking system or better known as LAN (Lazar, 2002). Local area networks are generally computer networks, which covers a specific geographical area. Alternatively, LAN is simply a wireless router, which provides networking services throughout a business venture, home or offices. In most cases, LAN is effective in covering larger territorials and is efficient in data transmission (Lazar, 2002).
In relation to this, the national business will have to develop the LAN equipment models around its new offices in the new locations for easy transmission of data. The models in this case will consist of different equipment in which the business venture will have to connect to transmit media and data through the NIC or better known as the network interface card. In doing this, the business venture will have four different categories of Local area networks models. The four LAN categories include the transmission media, the network interface card, the computing device and the internet work device. After the installation of the LAN models in the new premises, the national business venture needs to ensure that it is in a better position to reduce collision numbers in the LAN. This would be essential to the network operation and the designing systems. Additionally, this aspect is important in reducing networking delays (Shaw, 2003).
The network security is also an important aspect during the installation of the LAN models in the new businesses franchise and offices across the foreign cities. Generally, network security entails policies and provision adaptation by the network administrator for the purpose of preventing and monitoring unauthorized network access, modifications, misuse and computer network denials. In most cases, network securities entails data access authorization, which is mostly controlled by a network administrator. The business franchise will have to choose an ID and a password, which will allow it access programs and data regarding the business franchise (Davies, 2004). The network security in this case will cover various computer networks set up by the national business franchise. The type of network security in this case will be private which means that only the organization will be able to access the system.
Conclusion
The use of Linux in the new locations where the franchise seeks to establish itself is generally a good move by the organization. Alternatively, the use of LAN models would be essential in this type of organization especially when designing the networking systems.

Protectionism
Protectionism is both political and economic. This is true from the relations seen between china and the united states from the past few years whereby the trump administration wanted to make china look small and suffer when in a real sense, both of the countries were losing a great deal of money in what Mark Zandi calls ‘game of economic chicken. Protectionism can be in varied ways; for example, in the United States, steel industries have been protected for a long time since as trump believes that there is no country without steel. The trade conflict between China and United States can also be referred to as protectionism, whereby the United States wants to remain at the top economically. At the same time, China has the same goal to surpass the United States in economic supremacy. This paper discusses the concept of protectionism and provides examples as it connects classroom knowledge to real-world happenings.
The United States has always wanted to remain at the top of economic superiority, and this has been threatened in the recent past by china. With its aim to be at the top, China began by enacting tariffs on goods from the United States. However, trump threw the same energy china had put into place back to them and had taxes for many Chinese imported goods go high (Layne, 2019). Even though these economic games may seem good in retaining supremacy, they will affect both countries massively negatively. For example, in the United States, 300,000 fewer jobs were created due to the tariffs put into place by president trump. This means that with the continued taxes, more and more jobs will be lost, and maybe U.S. citizens will stop importing goods from china.
As Zandi states, trump was wrong about the goods imported benefitting China more than the United States. It is a two-way business, and therefore when the tariffs are in place, united states citizens pay more for the goods. This makes the cheap Chinese goods unavailable, making the lives of those who depended on them miserable and as they have to look for alternatives that are most of the time expensive. A good example of a product whose market had been destroyed due to cheap imports from china is Hickory, a furniture-making company, as Bob and Jon state. For the furniture and other types of products, china made them so cheap, and the reason why trump was very much concerned is that he wanted to do away with china controlling United States markets. This was also one of the reasons why he was elected as there was a rising concern for the china products flooding the United States market. Therefore he was elected to protect the United States market from china.
Even though the battle of supremacy continues, china seems to be way ahead of United States, and this is already worrying many people. Most people speculate that China will leave behind the United States in economic supremacy (Hilsenrath, 2016). This is because China’s business model supports its citizens and helps the companies so much to be better and improve themselves while at the same time protecting them from external forces like excessive importation of products that can be made in china. Chinas manner of business is very good since what it does is make as many products as possible, which has had a positive impact on them so far (How China Won Trump’s Trade War and Got Americans to Foot the Bill, n.d.). China has become a very industrious country, and the United States might likely be left behind.
Even though when it comes to China and United States crisis, there is a lot of debate most of the products are protected under the introduction of the tariffs. There is also specific item protectionism like the steel industry. In the United States, the steel industry has been protected by the government through tax reduction or other means like subsidies due to its importance in the United States economy and politically (“Protection for the Steel Industry Is as Old as America,” n.d.). Most of the industries are located in politically important places like Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia. Therefore as politicians campaign most of the time, they tend to favor these areas by promising steel industry protection, and later when in office, they do that because they promised. Therefore that is what has always been happening, and most of the time, even though steel must not be protected, it finds itself being saved due to political reasons.
