My Mother

Support, both physically and psychologically, is an essential part of a child’s growth. This is something I learnt through one of the most interesting persons in my life, my mother. I discovered my mother’s interesting traits when I came to my senses right after my toddler stage in life. At this point, it also came to my attention that support can be direct or indirect, depending on the actions of the supporter. In this case, my mother has always been my greatest supporter as I pursue different things in life. At times, circumstances have forced her to provide support directly and at times indirectly. However, all the situations have been essentially significant and interesting.

Since I was young, I have always been an ambitious individual, and my mother always encouraged me to pursue my dreams. Atop that, she encourages me to work diligently void of any laziness. Her support is directly depicted through her convincing and yet kind words that encourage me to apply effort in my work. She is also keen to display the aspect of working hard through her work. Whilst at home, she is always engaging in house chores that will make the family comfortable. Thus, I view that as an indirect way of communicating that hard work pays off when executed diligently. I have always viewed indirect communication as fascinating and mind engaging, which makes it more interesting. When my mother engages me in a moment where I have to figure out what she is trying to communicate, I find it intriguing. The reason behind this is the fact that I relish in unraveling the purpose of her actions.

Interest to me is a quality often gained through entertainment. Since my early childhood, my mother has always provided me with entertainment through her jokes. She may not be funny to everyone, but to me, she is hilarious. While I was young, she used to scold me after I did something wrong. Often, this made me cry in regret and shame, but she would cheer me up by tickling me or telling me a joke. Consequently, my regretful nature would disappear, and I would turn into being a joyful child. Such are moments I uphold dearest to me, and that make me find my mother to be quite interesting. She is still a funny lady that creates happy moments when I spend time with her. Additionally, when I am away from her, she has her way of making me feel happy by a funny conversation via a phone call or text message. Indeed, her interesting characters never change and hopefully will improve or remain intact.

My mother has a unique and interesting trait when it comes to material support. Various moments have surfaced in my life where I have desperately needed material help. As such, I turn to the most trustworthy person in the world, my mother. Sometimes, the material needs arise because of my mistakes, which makes it difficult for me to ask for assistance. This moment is usually followed by making a phone call or visit to my mother’s. Once there, I start by feeding her with a lot of information concerning the problem and avoiding the part where I ask for help. Despite my efforts to veer from the main topic, she ends up telling me that she will help with the problem. Therefore, she already knows that indeed the problem exists, and I seek her help. She is not only interesting, but amazing as well, proven by her kindness and philanthropic nature towards me.

Children, I being one of them, are bound to make mistakes in life, but having a proper guardian to distinguish the right thing from the wrong ones is crucial. As such, my mother is a great companion in my life. She has sacrificed a lot for my sake has shown the zeal to help me follow the right path in life. Supporting my dreams in life is not the only thing she has done in my life, but also guiding me chose the most appropriate dreams. As aforementioned, I found myself in moments that I was involved in mischief. My mother would not just scold me, but also provide a better alternative of doing things than the one I had initially chosen. Forbidding one not to do something without a reason or an alternative is of no use. My interesting mother ensured that I avoid developing curiosity to why doing something was wrong.

My mother forms the helm of the most interesting people in my world. I not only adore her, but also see a role model to emulate. Having such a wonderful and interesting person in my life has shaped me in several ways. She has molded my behavior to become a part of the greater good in the society and avoid wrongdoing. In addition, she has always been there for me, especially in my times of needs. As such, I will always value her as someone interesting and an integral part of my life.

Problems Facing North Korea

Problems Facing North Korea

In North korea, we have problems which result from human rights. These problems do not allow individuals own their own property. They include the following;

1. human rights violations in the country

In this case, only the Great Leader has aall the human rights and others are just vassals. No matter hoe these leaders can infringe on the lifes of other people, nobody can question about it. The act is considered blameless while in other nations the president is answerable to the congress for any act committed, and in North Korea, nobody can question the Great Leader.

2. violations in economic life.

Human should have rights such as speaking, political participation, and right to live and own society. Basic conditions like those of feeding, clothing, housing should be guaranteed for one to support himself. This rights are violated in this country of North Korea.

North korea does not providee the basic living conditions to its people, it subjects people to starvation and death. Most of the production processes ar owned by the state. The land is owned by agricultural cooperative, and hence basically it is ownd by the Great Leader. The rulers do not guarantee their people even the most basic living conditions and this makes them to die in large numbers due to starvation. A report given by the central party secretary in nineteen ninety five, showed that more than two thousand workers were unable to report to their places of work in factories since they lay at home starving.

Violations in politial life

People tend to believe that political party members participate fully and share the privileges of the party, this is not the case as with all the party members. We have full time members and the party representatives who are scaled downin stratas. Only the full time workers have the control or the power to exercise and guide the party projects as the Great Leader. An individual in North Korea will never be allowed to choose his own strategy or an ideology, since they are regarded as slaves whose thoughts are dominated by the Great leader such as Kim II Sung.

In North Korea people are resticted especially to laws in land, they are for show. By this statement i mean that, the people live outside the law. People are now allowed to mke any gatherings especially if they come from same home town. This incident is highly prohibited and at the dsame time one cannot move from one country to another minus havivng a travel pass. The Great Leader is there to destroy the love and morals of other people, he demands that no body should love more than one person, and that one person is the Great Leader. He also ensures thas people are made ignorant through making them to prase him, their efforts will never be channeled to creating good works.

B). These problems facing the lowly recognised people of north Korea can reduce the production rate. We are told that most of the production cites are controlled by te state and not individuals. At times these workers left to starve at home and hence affecting the production rates. The GDP of the United states and south Korea ca be compared to that of North korea.

My most memorable moment while teaching English in Seoul, South Korea was when a former student warned me “if you drink coffee, you die!” This was in an attempt to tell me that coffee is not good for my health. I realized that moments like these where I could put myself in this student’s shoes, review his choice of wording, and correct his English in a way that makes sense to him encouraged me to pursue a career in education. Most of the students at the school were comfortable enough to speak to me in English even though it was not perfect.

The increased comfort level of the students was aided by the fact that most of my English classes mostly consisted of games where students had fun while improving their language skills. This allowed me to use my creative abilities to invent new ideas that appealed to my students. It was a challenge to teach Korean students in my school because each had different levels of proficiency in English. I modified my lesson plans to accommodate everyone and worked closely with those that were at a lower level of understanding. At the end of the year, the lower level students caught up with the rest of their peers. This achievement was immensely gratifying and is a reason why I would like to learn more about this field and implement new ideas into my lessons.

As a result of my curiosity, I ventured out for more opportunities to challenge myself by teaching a different audience after returning to the United States. I accomplished this by joining the Literacy Volunteers of Atlanta and working as an assistant teacher for a citizenship class. This was a different challenge because I had to teach adults instead of sixth grade children. I was still able to create effective and enjoyable lesson plans that kept the class lively and active. For example, I created a Jeopardy-style game that consisted of questions that would be on their citizenship test. This game engaged the classroom and identified the weak areas that needed more attention.

My affinity for teaching, however, began before I taught abroad. I tutored English to the Korean community in Duluth, Georgia. Initially, the sole purpose of this part-time job was to earn extra money. As I taught my students, I quickly realized that I enjoyed the tutoring profession. Meanwhile, I became disenchanted with studying chemistry in college. Basically, working in a research lab and synthesizing dyes did not fulfill my original interest of becoming a chemist. The grades that I achieved in my advanced-level chemistry classes lowered my overall grade point average, especially those of organic chemistry. By the time I realized that I did not want to be a chemist, I had already completed most of the course requirements for the major. Nevertheless, I do not regret my degree in chemistry since I would be able to teach this subject and make it more appealing to students in the future.

After I complete the required twenty-seven months of Peace Corps and a Master’s degree in Educational Policy and Leadership, I want to use my skills and teach basic chemistry in American high schools that are in need of effective teachers for a few years. I believe that the degree would help me to become a productive teacher, which is why it would be important for me to have educational experience before taking over a classroom. After teaching chemistry, I would become more knowledgeable about the American school system. Eventually, I would like to work with advocacy groups or non-profit organizations to create educational policies and reform school systems. America ranks close to the bottom compared to other industrialized countries in math and science and could benefit from a motivated science teacher and an improved instruction method.

Looking at my future goals, it is obvious that Florida State University would be the ideal choice for me, since it offers a Masters International program in Educational Research and Policy. This would allow me to join the Peace Corps while completing my desired degree. The Socio-cultural and International Development Education program offers courses such as Educational and Economic Development taught by Peter B. Easton. His work on promoting adult literacy in West Africa and his involvement in the UNESCO Institute for Education and the World Bank appeal to me because I would be joining the Peace Corps and teaching children or adults.

Another professor that I would like to know is Dr. Lora Cohen-Vogel. Her research concentrates mainly on educational policy and the politics of education, an area that I am very interested in. I would like to take her class on Policy Development in Education. Since Florida State University offers a wide selection of professors and courses in the field of Educational Policy and Leadership, a top priority for me, I am eager about the possibility of continuing my education at this university.
