Trends, Issues and Perspectives on Psychology

There are numerous emerging trends in psychology, including mental health, telehealth and remote services, focusing on natural immunity and behavioral prevention and virtual learning. Experts predict that a tsunami or problems will continue hitting the population due to changes and stress. Prioritizing emotional well-being is important for citizens, and psychologists are the center of delivery of mental health services (Newcombe, Piercy, Ariyanto, Muluk, Suradijono, S. & Kristi Poerwandari, 2018). Additionally, nowadays telehealth has become a booming business. People are now turning to remote opportunities to avoid unnecessary exposures. With increased viral strands, people are now preferring virtual health care to in person visits. The pandemic caused a significant shift from medical models to natural immunity and prevention. People are now taking control of their health behaviors and prioritizing their health needs. People know that immunity is linked with lifestyle variables such as sleep, stress, sunlight, zinc, and vitamin D. Virtual learning is also a trend as new styles of learning have emerged with the pandemic. The pandemic affected the learning process for psychologists that teaching and learning in the field.

Issues in psychology have to do with how human beings make decisions and shape human behavior. The Nature-nurture debate is one of the issues in psychology. This debate is about how a person’s behavioral aspects are a product of their genes or are acquired learned characteristics. Another issue in psychology is the mind-body debate. The debate asks whether the body is part of the mind or the mind is part of the body and if they are different, which one of the two is in charge and how they interact. The free will/determinism debate is also another issue in Psychology. The free will debate has to do with the extent to which a person’s behavior stems from forces they have no control over or whether people decide how to behave or act for themselves.

Psychologists employ unique perspectives to study how people feel, behave and think. The psychodynamic perspective is one of the major perspectives in Psychology. First developed by Sigmund Freud, this perspective maintains that early childhood experiences, the unconscious mind, and interpersonal relationships play a role in explaining human behavior and treating mental illnesses. Sigmund Freud conceived that the mind comprises 3 elements, the ego, id, and super-ego. The id addresses unconscious desires, the ego addresses the demands of the real world, and the super-ego manages all our internalized standards, morals and ideals. Another psychological perspective is the behavioral perspective. Behavioral perspective has to do with learned behaviors. Developed by John Watson and Edward Thorndike, the Behaviorism perspective dominated during the early twentieth century. Currently, behavioral principles apply in mental health settings where counsellors and therapists employ such techniques to treat and explain illnesses (Filep & Laing, 2019). The cognitive perspective is also another perspective for cognitive psychology. This focuses on mental processes such as language, memory, problem-solving, thinking, and decision-making. The cognitive perspective employs an information-processing theory where a human mind is compared to a computer to explain how information is processed, acquired, stored, and utilized.

Trends In Recruitment

Web development has a wide range of effects on our professional and personal lives, and no one can contradict it. Since the development of the internet, it has been a primary source for businesses to generate revenue as well as interact with customers. Web development can range from electronic businesses, social network services, and complex web applications. One of the fields in which the web has recently and unmistakably been included is Recruitment and Selection, as a medium between job seekers and organizations (Van Esch, Black, & Ferolie, p.215.2019). As global competition intensifies and ventures become noticeably more aptitude based, the conscription of ability specialists becomes plainly basic and attracting the right candidates at the right time is becoming more difficult than at any time in recent memory.

The use of traditional enrollment strategies is no longer sufficient and auspicious in attracting a sufficient pool of suitable candidates. Many organizations have shifted to using innovative enlisting techniques or combining various enrollment tactics to attract them, such as the E-Recruitment. The objective of this paper is to explore the E-Recruitment and its effect on recruitment and selection. An e-recruitment, also known as digital recruitment or web search, is a type of hiring process that takes place online using an organization’s existing job description to post an opening. As opposed to traditional recruiting and selection practices, which takes place offline such as in newspapers or career fairs, using internet can be cost-effective and time efficient (Van Esch, Black, & Ferolie, p.219. 2019). Understanding the concepts behind e-recruiting not only helps you understand how recruiters use it to post vacancies but also how you can use it yourself for your own job search. Online recruitment is a tool which has known a phenomenal success in very short time (Galanaki, E, p.243.2002).

Emerging Trend in Cyber Security.

Keeping sensitive information safe from cyberattacks and unauthorized access has become a top priority for businesses of all sizes, corporations, organizations, and even governments in the age of the Digital Revolution. Because of the increasing frequency with which we hear about data breaches, ransomware and hacks as a result of technological advancement, there has been a corresponding shift in cybersecurity trends. For the year 2022, here are the top cybersecurity trends to keep an eye out for.

As a result of the automated software in modern vehicles, drivers are able to maintain seamless connectivity in areas such as cruise control and engine timing. A wide range of security flaws and hackers can be exploited by these vehicles, thanks to the use of wireless communication technologies such as Bluetooth and WiFi. While it is expected that criminals will try to gain control of automated vehicles in 2022, it is also expected that they will use microphones to listen in on conversations. Since self-driving or autonomous vehicles use a more complicated mechanism than conventional vehicles, it is essential that they be protected from cyberattack.

Due to AI and machine learning’s widespread adoption across all market segments, significant strides have been made in cybersecurity as a result of this technology. Automated security systems, natural language processing, face detection, and automatic threat detection are just a few of the technological advancements made possible by artificial intelligence. These tools are being used to create sophisticated malware and attacks that bypass the most up-to-date data security protocols, despite their many useful uses in other fields. [*] In the event of a data breach, artificial intelligence-enabled threat detection systems can alert administrators immediately.

In light of the rise of the cloud, businesses must constantly monitor and update their data security measures to prevent leaks. Despite the fact that cloud applications like Google’s and Microsoft’s are well-protected, errors, malicious software, and phishing attacks originate primarily from the end user.

The use of automation is essential in an era where information is becoming ever more massive and complex, so that more sophisticated control can be achieved. Today’s professionals and engineers are under increasing pressure to deliver quick and effective solutions, which makes automation more valuable than ever before. The agile development process incorporates security measures to ensure that the software is more secure in every way possible. It’s even more difficult to secure large and complex web applications, which emphasizes the significance of automating and securing the software development process.

The Past, Now and in a Post-Pandemic World: Cybersecurity Hiring Trends

Ransomware, security-as-a-service, and a lack of trust are some of the most prominent trends. The number of ransomware attacks is steadily rising. It’s predicted that ransomware will continue to rise in 2022, according to the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity. For the rest of our lives, the coronavirus will have a profound effect on the world we live in. It has been a roller coaster ride for the vast majority of us in the last seven months. It will be critical in 2021 to maintain your career momentum that you are flexible and resilient.

It’s safe to say that COVID-19 has had a significant impact on our economy, as well as our physical and mental well-being. When the global pandemic struck, I was on the front lines of hiring freezes, upscaling, and downscaling as a recruiter for cybersecurity firms.

What about the cybersecurity market? In what ways will things not change? The post-pandemic world has brought about many changes, and for these we should be grateful. Even though change can be frightening, it should also be embraced.

Because of this, there’s still a lot to learn about cybersecurity. The dangers are still there. Demand for cyber professionals has remained stable even as other industries have been severely hampered. There is a constant stream of market research, salary surveys, and other data that I have to deal with as a recruiter.

As a direct result of the pandemic, there was an uptick in cyber attacks that garnered a lot of attention. There are two primary causes for this: Hackers exploited the pandemic by, among other things, sending out bogus emails claiming to be health advice and hacking healthcare provider systems, which made us more vulnerable.

2020 has been a roller coaster for the cybersecurity industry, but it has not been all bad. We believe that the government’s investment in cyber will result in more job opportunities for cyber professionals, according to our data. Furthermore, cyber professionals now have more freedom and flexibility than ever before because of the ability to work remotely.

Top Trends of the Industry

Outsourcing

Outsourcing refers to the process of exchanging a business capacity to an external expert organization. Outsourcing can be used in a number of different ways, ranging from communication to IT, accounting, legal and more. Recent years have seen the outsourcing industry grow at an impressive rate. A recent report revealed that over half of all U.S. businesses have outsourced at least one function in the past year, with about 20% outsourcing more than 25% of their workload. An outsourced business team has built-in security systems, and other communication-based platforms that allow efficiency. Outsourcing can help save money and give organizations access to skills that they may not have. The most popular reasons for business owners to outsource are cost savings and improved efficiency, but many companies find global talent difficult to find locally so they turn to external organizations instead (Gozman, & Willcocks, p.250 2019).

In the last year, there has been a significant shift toward working from home offices. Many people used to work in conventional office settings. From April 2020 to March 2020, 46.6 percent of UK workers worked from home at least some of the time. Because of the Covid-19’s tenacity, our full-time return to our offices appears unlikely.

Even after the virus has been eradicated, remote working will almost certainly continue in some form or another. Working from home (WFH) has become a popular option for both employers and employees because it gives workers more control over their schedules and lowers business costs while increasing productivity. Because of the numerous benefits of remote working, a significant trend is expected to continue in 2021.

Thus, outsourcing has proved to be advantageous to various businesses across the world. From start-ups to established manufacturers, enterprises are seeing the benefits of outsourcing. A business can spend time addressing technology concerns or financial concerns which can aid in reducing risks. With the right contact in place, outsourced labour can be acquired at a fraction of what you would pay locally. Paying for an overseas project can also help in reducing your carbon footprint due to the low fuel consumption when transporting goods overseas. Outsourcing speeds up a business to grow.

E-Recruitment

E-recruitment also called online enlistment represents the most recent trend. Web is the key component of E-recruitment. Not only is the platform just a simple access point, but it mayalso authorize the recruitment process. Recruitment and placement of staff members in almost every industry have become online with E-recruitment as a key tool. It provides recruiters with an efficient way to connect with prospective job candidates and arrange interviews, while allowing remote candidates to share their resumes online. It can also confirm their qualifications and skill sets while eliminating the time consumed by frequent face-to-face meetings (Wright, & Atkinson, p,7.2019).

Online enlistment has not only made things easier for recruiters and jobseekers, but it has also improved efficiency by reducing costs of transportation, travel time, hotel arrangements, meals and office space for both businesses and individuals working from home. Statistics show that E-recruitment has been steadily growing in recent years.

Many businesses are shifting their focus away from physical workspaces as they increasingly rely on technology to provide a variety of services online. Workplaces, on the other hand, will never go out of style, at least not in the near future. Blind, an anonymous network, discovered that 81 percent of tech professionals believed the future of work would be hybrid. Many people aren’t sure what the distinction between traditional and hybrid work entails. Before the pandemic, many of us had never heard of this term. Work hybridization, or the combination of office and home-based activities, can help bridge the gap between the present and the future. Participation in WFH by the workforce can assist employers in meeting Covid-19 requirements. Workers benefit from the arrangement because it encourages teamwork while allowing them to work in a location that best suits their needs, which increases their productivity.

Online enlistment has made the recruitment process simpler and more efficient. Online recruiters can quickly verify the qualifications of potential employees and prevent costly mistakes. E-recruitment is an important part of job seekers’ career planning, making it easier for them to self-select into challenging positions, both in terms of work environment and competitive compensation (Gaikwad, Shastri, & Dhole, p.11.2021). Online enlistment such as sharing jobs on alumni networks, recruitment agencies, and social networks have allowed recruiters to attract as many candidates as possible. So, E-recruitment not only plays a key role in enhancing job satisfaction, but also brings better benefits to both employers and employees.

Poaching

Poaching is another strategy that is being used today by various organizations. It involves the contending firms pulling in labor from adversary organizations. It is very common to see employee poaching in fields such as coding, programming, and development. These skills are in high demand and often recruiters will contact these employees to offer better benefits, better pay, or even a mixture of both. This strategy has helped many employees to leave their current company and provide their skills to a new employer. This is also a way for skilled employees to make more money and gain better opportunities. Poaching, also sometimes referred to as “job stealing”, is a strategy that is used by organizations of all sizes. It can be a particular strength for smaller firms with less capital and more labor available (Gaikwad, Shastri, & Dhole, p.34.2021). For larger organizations that are looking to gain competitive advantage, poaching makes sense if it allows them to gain the most from their competitors’ employees.

The trend has been in existence at least since World War I, but its growing prevalence was brought on by globalization and technological advances in spurring an increase in cross- border movements of people due to changes in trade patterns and growth rates. Poaching has become a mixed strategy among companies today, which could help reduce wage disparity between multinational companies and countries. If employee poaching is successful, the poaching company will have the benefit of getting a high-qualified employee.

Figure 1 Trends Vs. Emerging Issues

Futures studies and strategic planning use the term Emerging Issues Analysis (EIA) to describe the process of identifying and researching issues that have not been influential or significant in the past but may become so in the future. The term “emerging issue” refers to something that may be on the fringes of society today, but has the potential to become a critical mainstream issue or a major trend in its own right in the future. The Millennial generation’s rise to power will lead to the dismantling of traditional educational institutions and the emergence of digital bodyguards for children to protect them from cyberbullying in the near future.

If you’re thinking about the future, you’ll almost certainly talk about trends. When we look at a graph, we can’t help but think of trends as if they’re telling us what’s going to happen in the future. Only a few trained futurists use a trend as one of the most important “building blocks” in their alternative futures forecasting.

Research by futurists aims to better understand and predict societal shifts. Both are essential components of foresight work and are frequently combined, but they are fundamentally different and must be treated as such. Most organizations are used to talking about current events, but they are unfamiliar with the concept of emerging problems. Many frameworks and tools can be used to encourage a more robust future discussion, however.

Conclusion

Small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) can benefit from capitalizing on emerging trends as a result of Covid-19 in order to stay ahead of the competition. For example, if you anticipate public needs and use emerging technology to streamline your business processes, you can gain a competitive advantage in 2021. However, depending on the industry, it may be necessary to invest more money in the future to get some new business trends off the ground. As a result, Market Finance may be able to assist your small or medium-sized business (SME) if you require capital to implement positive changes.

Market Finance helps businesses regain control of their cash flow and operations by making loans available through the government’s Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS). We can offer extremely low VAT rates because we are a government-approved lender. To top it all off, if you have any questions or concerns along the way, our friendly customer service representatives are here to assist you!

Therefore, there are various emerging trends in the business world. Most of these trends have been promoted by the technological advancements that are changing the way things are done. For example, COVID-19. Most prepared businesses went to a “stay at home” status which allows for most employees to work from home virtually. For the companies who did not offer telework or have a virtual system in place, new online operations were established. The growth of the internet and technology has enabled the sharing of ideas, thoughts, and knowledge freely. Businesses are allowed to assess the different parts of their companies and continue to grow. This has had a significant impact on the business world, as it has made communication easier (Li, 2020 p.3). It is also changing how people buy things, what they buy and where they go to acquire whatever it is that they need. Ultimately these trends show that today’s business world is constantly evolving – new advances are happening daily which are shaping new trends in the ever-changing industry.
