This book provides key concepts on the relationship between media and law and how media shape our understanding of the law. It explores the legal issues involved with a variety of media and technologies, including libel, copyright, censorship and regulation. Finally, it discusses the ethics of journalism in a digital era. This is a must-read book for anyone interested in understanding their rights within the media world
In today’s digital age, more people are communicating than ever before with friends and family through social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. We can upload videos to YouTube to communicate with the public and give our opinions on products through online reviews. In fact, the media has become a powerful tool that enables us to perform many different tasks.
The media industry is full of risk and danger. Everyone involved in the media creates journalism, publishing and broadcasting; but it is hard to know how much risk one may experience because of these activities. It is difficult for people who are new in these fields to understand what they can do legally, especially in regards of copyright issues and libel. The book Media Law and Ethics tries to bring some order into the confusion by explaining the rules that we must obey when working within this field.
In my opinion, I would add a lot of information about libel and defamation. The book does a wonderful job of explaining different issues that arise from using the PC, cell phones, tablets and other digital media. The book is very comprehensive. There are a lot of rules that one must know in regards to copyright infringement and libel. In fact, most people do not understand that they could be sued for their opinions which can be misconstrued as libel or slander by the professional themselves or their company’s enemy.
The use of the Internet has changed society in an aspect that is more business than ever before; but according to this textbook, we need to understand our rights and obligations as well as those of others. In conclusion, this book is vital to any journalist’s library, not just the fact-oriented one. It touches on many of the vital and important ethical issues that are going to be debated in journalism in years to come — everything from how much is too much when it comes to the sharing of information and personal privacy, to how citizen journalists will change the way we view society. The book includes a thorough discussion on hackers and activist groups, who have been changing conventional journalistic practices around surveillance and hacktivism for some time now. the main issue according to me is the bias of the media. I think that media outlets should be kept separate from political and economic powers so that there will be no conflict of interest, because this book has shown that media who have a special interest in certain groups or people can do anything to promote their own self-interests.

This assignment normally requires for you to visit an original artwork in person.
However, this is no longer a requirement. You may do this same assignment using any work from THE GOOGLE ART PROJECT (Links to an external site.)For the image requirements for this paper please submit a screen shot (feel free to crop the image) of the artwork you chose from THE GOOGLE ART PROJECT. You can also download an image from another website to illustrate your paper, but please remember to cite the source of the image in your works cited page.
REQUIREMENTS:
1) Print off these instructions and the Formal Analysis Worksheet before you go.
2) Perform a detailed formal analysis of a single work of art WHILE YOU ARE IN FRONT OF THE WORK.
a) This is an exercise in looking. Therefore, any discussion of the artist’s biography, historical context, or your personal experience will not be counted towards the word count.
b) Your essay should include a discussion of all the elements and principles listed in the Formal Analysis GuideActions. Each element and each principle should be addressed using three sentences. You discussion of each element or each element may discuss one example in depth, or several examples. For example, you might use three sentences to discuss the color in a figure’s shirt, or you might identify the artist’s use of color in three different places.
c) To organize your essay, your overall argument and conclusion should address how the artists used the principle of emphasis.
d) Your essay should be 1000-1500 words. Use APA or MLA format.
3) Turn in an image of the artwork with your essay.
4) Not required: Turn in a picture of yourself in front of the artwork or the museum as proof of having visited.
5) Compositional Design. A compositional design is the student’s visual expression of how the elements and principles work in a specific work of art. No two students will ever have the same compositional design on the same painting. For an example of a compositional design for the painting Las Meninas, see 1.10.12c on p. 185 in your textbook. As you can see, a compositional design is not a recreation of the work of art, but instead it shows the relationships between the elements and principles and emphasizes the ones that are most important.

Step 1: Identification of Threats and Hazards of Concern
Technological Hazard/Threat Natural Hazards/Threats Man-made Threat/Hazard
Accidental explosion
Fire outbreak
Spillage of chemicals Flood
Earthquake
Tornado
Strong winds Terrorist Attack
Work place violence
Step 2: Giving the Threats and Hazards Context
Accidental explosion There are high chances that an explosion could occur since the refinery handles explosive and combustible fuels
Fire outbreak Fire outbreaks could emanate from many parts of the factory due to many causes including earthquake, explosions and power faults. Unfortunately, a fire outbreak in a fuel refinery tends to be catastrophic and may end up destroying the whole property (Lin, Wu & Tsai, 2015).
Floods Following the geographical location of the factory, instances of floods could occur when Mississippi River breaks its banks. Moreover, Memphis’ extreme weather conditions could attract heavy downpours at any time
Earthquake Since the New Madrid seismic zone, a seismically active zone, covers Memphis, instances of moderate earthquakes could hit ACME AMAZIUM refinery any time in future (USA.COM, 2020).
Tornado The refinery has high chances of facing a tornado because Memphis is situated in a place where tornado is highly-prevalent
Step 3: Capability Targets and Required Resources
Hazard/threat Capability Targets Required Resources
Earthquake Immediate response within 2 hours and 100% rescue of survivors within 3 hours, and 100 % recovery of deceased persons’ remains within 12 hours Sufficient first aid kits, communication devices
Tornado Immediate response within 1 hour, 100% rescue of survivors within 2 hours and 100% recovery of deceased persons’ mains within 12 hours Sufficient first aid kits, communication devices
Fire outbreak Immediate response and the fire is 100% extinguished within 1 hour Adequate fire extinguishers and equipment, communication devices
Accidental explosion Quick response within 1 hour and reduction of damages by over 50% Adequate fire extinguishers and equipment, communication devices
Floods Speedy response within 1 hour, 100% rescue of survivors within 1 hour and at least 70% recovery of affected property within 24 hours Sufficient first aid kits, communication devices
