Technology Impacts to Political Process Change

The advancement in technology has efficiently changed the political process enabling people to be significantly involved in political campaigns than ever before. Technology varies from the internet services to the communication media where nowadays the politicians have no control of the information that reaches the eligible voters. Technology advancement efficiently impacts generation to the other as it helps in coming up with new techniques to enhance credibility and accuracy in politics. The social media have the supremacy to influence public opinion, and the politicians on the other side might be the victims of technology or be the beneficiaries. Technology is not only vital in keeping an eye on the political aspirants and enhancing effective campaigns but also plays a significant role in carrying out the elections. Today’s political discussion has shifted from rallies and other physical meeting events to social media platforms and smartphones. In this paper, the changes enhanced by technology are discussed in a more profound context.

The political process is sensitive and vital part of the society that people has to be keen on enhancing political stability, unity, and peace in the nation. The internet and other technology such as scientific and industrial innovations have significantly impacted politics. As everyone knows, change is inevitable not only in the political field but also in the social and economic sectors as technology modernization leads to social growth and development. Many nations which are democratic make use of internet services and technology to enhance efficiency in the political process to ensure satisfaction of both the political aspirants and the voters (Almond & Verba 2015). The ways by which technology have dramatically changed the political process include social influence, the threat of viral information spread, the introduction of new issues, keener campaigns, reachability, cost, personalization, engagement, participation, and fundraising among many others.

To begin with is a social influence as one of the outcomes of technology in the change of political process starting from campaigns to elections. The communication channels such as the television, newspapers and online social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram among many others have vastly changed politics. Also, the internet, in general, is perfect in ensuring perfect political process where the politicians and voters will effectively communicate and be updated with all the relevant information. Through the social channels, the politicians do not address people directly hence able to speak to a large number of voters all over the country at the same time. It is via social media platforms that people can quickly air their views regarding politics as it was not the case before where no opportunity to give views was accredited. Through a single post on Facebook or Twitter, a politician is capable of sharing the information with a large number of people worldwide (McNair, 2017).

It is through technology that the political aspirants are forced to be keen and be positive minded when selling their policies. Every time that politicians gathers a conference whether locally or in the urban areas they have to keep in mind that people have advanced and will use smartphones or any other applicable gadget to record the information. It is evident in that many political aspirants has been having issues spread on the internet and social media platforms that can be used by the voters as a judgment whether to vie for that particular person. Also, enemies can use the internet and other technology to spread viral information with the aim of demolishing publicity of a particular politician. Therefore, the aspirants have to be keen and capable of using and following the updates on the internet and social media to protect their well-being and ensure survivability.

Furthermore, technology has enhanced personalization and engagement in the political background. Today, the politicians are interviewed and dealt with as individuals and not as a political party as it was the case before. It makes the political process efficiency as the voters will be able to know the exact character who is vying for a specific position. The policies and communication of the candidates will enable the public to determine who have the best leadership traits and suits the position. The media plays an essential role in enhancing direct communication and creating bases for a long-term bond between the aspirant and the voter. Engagement with voters comes through participating in interviews and other discussions on the social media platforms (Migdal, 2015). The social media has correctly created an audience, and any candidate who has the capability of a good representation will at all the times have a majority voters favor.

Raising funds for the campaign is the biggest threat to the candidates that are vying for different political posts. To enhance success, there must be a sound solution to ensure adequate capital for supporting the campaign where a significant number of politicians get it through fundraising. The Internet is an excellent tool to facilitate such activity as all the supporters will have access to the payment methods at ease. For instance, there can be a linked add on the website or the social media page created whether the supporters can get the information regarding contribution methods.

From the above discussion, it is evident that internet and technology are crucial to success in the political field. The nation has the responsibility to ensure adoption of advanced technology not only for easing campaigns but also enhancing free, fair and credible elections. It is through political stability that there is significant social-economic growth and development in the society.

The United States Technological and Economic Growth during 1840-1860

During this duration, the economic and technological advancement led to significant changes to the United States development from old and rural like a limit to industrial power bloc. The society incurred various significant effects which were inevitable with consideration of development in the transportation industry, agriculture and the improvement in the nation’s economy in general. The railroads and telegraph emerged to be the most advanced projects that influenced the economic sector as well as industrialization in the society. Considering that a large number of Americans worked on farms and it the required tools could not be made by hands leading to the invention of a power-driven the machine which carried out a wide variety of work instead. In this paper, the economic and technological growth in the United States is discussed into an in-depth extent with regards to how they affected the communication, transportation as well as the industrial sectors.

At this period the United States experienced economic fluctuations due to the effects of various factors such as the civil war which took place during the 1840s and 1850s. However, it was a decade of overall economic growth where significant changes in the structures and scale of business not only industrial development but also banking, transportation as well as financial services. Its impacts were effectively experienced in the nation where the business and labor sector significantly developed. The growth of science and technology in this era was inevitable due to the scientific inventions in various fields resulting in an overall change in the market economy as well as enhancing urbanization (Boyer, et al’ 2013). North America portrayed higher industrial growth than the southern part where people extensively carried out agricultural production. Therefore, the construction of railroads improved the interaction between the two parts where industrial goods, as well as labor, could easily be transported from one region to the other at a cheaper cost.

The industrialization in North America developed in three faces which made the production of textile and cloth easy. The manufacturers could divide the work among the laborers where at the first phase one worker would spin the machine and the other person weave the cloth. At the second stage, the skilled workers were brought together where the factories were built enhancing quick production process. During the third phase, machinery was applied by the workers in the factory to perform some duties. For instance, the power-driven loom had to carry out the weaving work. In 1846, Elias Howe invented the sewing machine which became essential in mass production where the operators could produce clothes on large scale from the enormous fabrics made by the machine. A wide variety of industries developed at this period where the factories in the Northeast produced around two-thirds of the nation’s manufactured goods (Boyer, et al. 2013).

Technological modernization leads to vast improvement in the transportation sector during this era. It is the same time when the railroads were constructed all over the country. Even though rail transportation was tedious and disgusting due to the act of standing and lots noise from the locomotive, it facilitated transportation of agricultural products, manufactured goods as well as well as labor across the nation. Up to 1850 immense roads and canal has been constructed in the United States where the construction crew had put in place thousand miles of the transportation networks. The canals opened new harbors where ships could connect through the routes between the lakes and rivers thus getting access to different parts of the country. Among the evident transportation advancement during this period include the introduction of Transoceanic Steamships in the year 1840 and the establishment of Cumberland road in 1852. Furthermore, there were thirty thousand miles of railroads that were constructed as it turned 1860 as well as a thousand steamships that were established in 1860 on Mississippi. These inventions made the decade memorable in the nation regarding the significant changes that were experienced greatly boosting the economic growth.

The communication on the other side was not left behind as various techniques were put in place to enhance its speed and efficiency. It was as a result of the new pace of transport created as well as industrial growth, thus the urge of having faster communication networks. Among the significant improvements seen in the communication sector at this era include the invention of the telegraph by Samuel Morse in 1844, the first transatlantic cable established in 1858 as well as the establishment of pony express in the year 1860. Morse invention becomes much significant as the Americans could now send messages faster through the wires. The telegraph lines were promptly established and the civilians immediately adopted the method of communication where messages could be received faster. The advancement in communication strategies improved industrial production leading to economic growth as people could communicate from a distance without wasting time to physically deliver the messages.

The other sector that greatly developed during this period is Agriculture. With cheaper means of transport, the farmers could receive inputs such as fertilizers and seeds which are vital to plant growth from the industries at lower and affordable cost. Also, the farmers had the means of transporting the agricultural products from the farms to the industries as well as other marketplaces that improved production and lessened wastage due to delays during the transportation process. The overall growth in the industrial, transportation, communication and agricultural sector led to the improvement of nation increasing the gross domestic product resulting to a stable economy.

From the above discussion, between 1840 and 1860 vast economic and technological growth took place in the United States boost the country’s economy. The advancement of transportation facilities made it easier to move goods and labor across the nation. The scientific inventions made communication process easier as well as enhancing industrial efficiency where products could be produced faster. The overall combination of these advancements lead to economic stability in the nation and it significantly set the pace for the country’s economic status an impact which is experienced in the United States history up to today.

Technological Advancements: Evaluating Results and Benefits

Introduction

The advent and development of technology over the past years have resulted in work transition for almost all business organizations. Technological advancement has led to a steady increase in the utilization of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in work activities such as performance measurement and evaluations (Ghodke & Bhate, 2020). Technology plays an amicable role in evaluation by establishing the early warning system through the detection, direct technological changes, and control for the maximization of the public good and minimization of the public risks. As such, businesses rely on technology to assess and track the performance of each organization. Also, enhancement of the public goods entails the creation of the digital records between the workers, managers, and business owners, leading to the growth and development. Notably, the monitoring and evaluation process through technology comprises machine learning that characterizes the technological changes in the profit and non-profit organizations (Muslimin et al., 2017). The machine learning process enables the organization to evaluate the dashboards, visualizations, analytics, and mapping that enhances the stored data’s ability to make sense of the collected information. Therefore, the paper gets aims to analyze the emerging technologies used in the evaluation process, contrasting the methods used by the profit and non-profit organizations in using technology, and analyzing the importance of evaluation within the workplace. Furthermore, the paper presents a plan for using the emerging technology-based organization choice and its generation of long-term effects.

Emerging Technologies for Evaluation Process

Artificial Intelligence Machines

Artificial intelligence machines are tools simulating human intelligence through a computerized system. The system evaluates the information within the organization through reasoning, learning, and self-corrections (Téot et al., 2020). The capabilities of AI machines are helpful in digital evaluation despite reducing job opportunities. Sometimes the use of artificial intelligence technologies creates valuable intelligence from the database through tracking data like sensors, transactions, equipment productions, and deduction of solutions for robust productivity.

Blockchain Technology

Another emerging technology that can be utilized in the evaluation process in non-profit organizations is blockchain technology. This technology originated from Cryptocurrency Bitcoins. Blockchain technology is used in evaluation because it can store and share safe, transparent, unalterable, and controllable information via Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) (Sifah et al., 2020). Blockchain technology in evaluation is used to design an employee evaluation system using three-chain models, including ID-Chain, Credit Chain, and Behavior Chain, to make one unified chain.

Automation

Automation enhances the evaluation by controlling the process, system, and devices with limited human involvement. As such, exclusive human tasks, e.g., writing, printing, and speech, get mimicked through evaluated technology (Téot et al., 2020). Through pairing with 3D printing, technology creates specialty parts for machine learning.

Robots

Robots evaluate the information by automating complex tasks controlled by the software. They get mainly used to reduce overheads (Zhou et al., 2020). Robots mimic the targeted information hence helpful in evaluation.

3-D printing

3-D printing enhances evaluation using three-dimensional solid objects from the digital data constructed on a 3-d model. Perfecting the 3-d usage involves the application of a user-friendly interface to provide the organization with a leading competitive advantage (Zhou et al., 2020). As such, the retail businesses and the investigation departments have applied 3-D printing to substantiate the evaluated information.

Differences Existing in the Methods used by the profit and Non-profit organizations for Technological Evaluation.

The non-profit organizations evaluate their performance using technology that reflects the assets in their hands that can further get used for the organization’s mission that tracks excess revenues over the expenditure. In contrast, profit organizations use the accounting system technological evaluation strategies to track net income. Also, the non-profit organization gets guided by its technological missions and purpose, while the profit organization gets guided by the vision that tries to achieve the best technological version for the continuous betterment of the company. Technological-based evaluation for the profit organization provides services and products to customers to make a profit. In contrast, the evaluation initiative used by the non-profit organization gets premised on service provision to the society and community without the intention of earning profit (Gratton, 2018). Majorly, the non-profit organization evaluates the busies incentives to equip the society with the new skills and enhance transparency, whereas the profit organization creates a paradigm of transparency for robust technological products that are evaluated in profit-making models. Consequently, evaluation in a non-profit organization enhances sustainability in the technological environment while the evaluation in a profit organization targets the business expansion for the competitive advantage.

Importance of Evaluation within the Workplace

Evaluation enables the managers to remind the employees of the organization’s expectations by providing regular information for the business continuity. Also, employers get credible information for making employment decisions like pay raises, layoffs, and promotions. The performance appraisal in the workplace is an evaluation strategy that measures the performance of the employees hence ease of identifying the strength and weaknesses. As such, the employees overcome their weaknesses through appraisal mandate, creating personal growth by enhancing their strengths. For-profit organization’s workplace, the evaluation enables the company to provide the qualitative and quantitative measurement that plays a significant role in production-oriented frameworks. Moreover, the performance evaluation gives the employees and employees a stepping stone for identifying and discussing areas that need changes and provides feedback and a set of expectations.

Plan for using the emerging technology based on organization choice and its generation of long-term effects.

Identification of the Desired Results

The organization must apply the Understanding by Design Model that is aimed at creating an atmosphere for the use of emerging technology. It identifies what workers should know, understand and be able to generate (Albukhitan, 2020). Also, identifying the desired result requires the outcome evaluation of the key understandings and the essential questions related to the aims.

Determination of the Assessment Evidence

The assessment evidence betters the organization’s alignment with the technological field nomenclature. It enables the workforce to consider the tools that can easily capture evaluation evidence in machine learning (Albukhitan, 2020). Therefore the assessment creates a paradigm through which all the information can be used in the encoded evaluation.

Designing of planning Activities

It involves the planning of the learning experiences and instructions which address meaning-making, knowledge acquisition, and learning transfer through technology. As such, the technological advisers should consider the activities that help achieve the desired and evaluated learning outcomes (Albukhitan, 2020). Further, the activities for self-assessment through technical evaluation explore the organization’s objectives.

Conclusion

The evaluation process using technology creates an atmosphere where the targeted aims, vision, and objectives get reached by the organization. As such, automation machines, artificial intelligence machines, robots, and 3-D printing are helpful for the evaluations within the organization. The profit and non-profit organizations use technological evaluation to reach different goals. As a result, evaluation plays a significant role in enhancing quality and quantity production in the workplace through creating mutual interaction between the managers, employees, and the employers. Most importantly, evaluation using the technological frameworks requires strategic plans for quantity and production quality.
