Final Synthesis Project
During the semester, we have discussed in length through class lectures, video clips, movies, music, and poetry the concept of culture and how our culture effects the way in which we view others and ourselves. Using examples from the work you’ve submitted this semester—write a 3page synthesis paper utilizing a film, documentary, or television series listed below. THIS IS NOT A REVIEW. Please DO NOT simply re-tell the storyline from the movie. The object of a synthesis paper is to take your chosen film and/or documentary and use the topics discussed in class lecture to expound upon the theme(s) of the work(s) you choose.

Culture
What is culture according to the book? Explain why culture is important in how we view our humanity and the humanity of others. Give vivid examples from class lectures, PPTs, movies, YouTube clips, poetry, your course book, and music.
Racial Profiling in America & Gender Biases
Black Men
The lives of Black men in the US have long been adversely affected by negative public perceptions. In a 2011 study, Media Representations & Impact on the Lives of Black Men and Boys, conducted by The Opportunity Agenda, negative mass media portrayals were strongly linked with lower life expectations among black men. These portrayals, constantly reinforced in print media, on television, the internet, fiction shows, print advertising and video games, shape public views of and attitudes toward men of color.
Define the ways in which Black men are characterized in pop culture, the media, society, and the U.S. criminal justice system. How does this view of Black men contrast with the concept of the Imago Dei and God’s concept of creation?
Black Women
The violence against Black men and women is disparaging. The majority of the news we hear of violence against black people are the shootings of boys and men by police. Beneath the fold or often obscured or disappeared from the headlines are the stories of black women who endure not only entrenched societal racism but a deep, engrained misogyny that degrades and devalues them. Malcolm X said, “The most disrespected woman in America is the black woman. The most unprotected woman in America is the black woman. The most neglected woman in America is the black woman.”
Define the ways in which Black women and Black men are objectified and mishandled in pop culture, the media, society, and religious institutions. How does this view of Black women contrast with the concept of the Imago Dei and God’s concept of creation?
Revelation
Define the term “revelation,” and explain how the Black experience in American culture connected to revelation. Give vivid examples from class lectures, PPTs, movies, YouTube clips, poetry, your course book, and music. Be creative and have fun! Please use examples from film/media, past assignments/tests, class discussions and lecture, You Tube clips, and music to write your synthesis of your chosen film or documentary. (HINT: There are resources on Black Board in your assignments and class lectures/presentation sections!)

Genres and Rhetorical Situations
In Chapter 2 of the class textbook, the authors discuss the concept of Genres, defining it as how a speaker chooses to respond to a rhetorical situation. Braziller and Kleinfeld (2021) declare that identifying the audience and the purpose is noteworthy when reading genres. In social contexts, a genre can be oversimplified to mean “type” or “category.” In Chapter 3 on Reading as a Writer: Rhetorical Situations & Genres Together, these authors suggest that genres go hand in hand with rhetorical situations. In particular, Braziller and Kleinfeld (2021) argue that genres simply respond to rhetorical situations. So, the composition of a genre occurs when the speaker or writer is working within a rhetorical situation, trying to respond to it in a creation (genre) characterized by a purpose, an audience, use of rhetorical appeals, mode, and medium.
This understanding of genres and rhetorical moments or situations is vital in analyzing the publication by Kimbu et al. (2021). This publication is one of the artifacts relevant to my area of study in Project 1 that I might utilize for my artifact analysis in Project 2. The genre of this artifact is a peer-reviewed journal article. Braziller and Kleinfeld (2021) define this genre as a paper created from research outcomes, submitted to scholars for a review of facts, and accepted for publication in a journal after review. So, the rationale for concluding that the genre for this artifact is a peer-reviewed journal article is because it has already been accepted for publication in the Annals of Tourism Research. This is a bimonthly peer-reviewed academic journal containing academic research on tourism.
The article’s purpose is clearly stated in its abstract. The rhetorical appeals apparent in this article are appeals to logic (logos) demonstrated by the authors’ use of descriptive evidence and appeals to credibility (ethos) manifest in the credibility of this evidence. The common elements of this genre are professional language, adherence to conventions of an academic citation style (APA), and adoption of IMRaD format (Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion). The genre’s style involves a scholarly tone and its design textual without visuals and with minimal statistics. Regarding sources, this peer-reviewed journal article has drawn from other credible and academically written publications.
A rhetorical moment or situation has three elements. These include constraints, exigence, and audience (Braziller & Kleinfeld, 2021). The rhetorical situation that this artifact responds to is scholarly conversation revolving around gendered leadership. Its exigence is the authors’ need to recontextualize the nexus between gendered perspectives, entrepreneurial performance, and entrepreneurial leadership. So, the possible audience entails scholars and experts in entrepreneurship. The article’s constraints include reliance on a textual content only, arguments based on some theoretical assumptions, and focus on tourism-related entrepreneurship.
The article’s appeals to credibility (ethos) allow it to respond to the rhetorical situation about gendered leadership effectively by integrating evidence from multiple academic and professional sources. This helps build a coherent and reliable argument about the place of women in contemporary entrepreneurial leadership. The article’s use of appeals to logic (logos) helps fulfill its purpose by leveraging logical points, objective descriptive evidence, and a carefully organized structure to appeal to the entrepreneurial audience about the nexus between entrepreneurial leadership, gender, and entrepreneurial performance.

IntroductionDue to the rapid increase in technology development, most organizations use databases as a way of recording and keeping their information. In the past, managers would record and enter data manually to the systems. However, there are some organizations that still rely in gathering information and feeding them manually to the systems while maintaining some soft copies and files that are stored according to each department. Databases are usually designed in a way it can offer organized a good mechanism for storage, and for retrieving information. Consequently, this paper analyzes the fundamentals of the database characteristics and structures, types of medical data records that are relevant to the project being implemented and the importance of uniform terminology, coding and standardization of the data. The paper also analyzes various information standards that are applicable for the project.
It sometimes becomes hard for an organization to enter data or information one by one more so when the organization tends to have very large data which needs to be inputted. For example keeping records for patients in hospitals happens to be the most challenge tasks that doctors face. Entering patients information as well as keeping their records is a tiresome job, therefore the best way of doing it much faster is by implementing or developing information systems that will make work easier and quicker (Rob & Coronel, 2002).
Fundamentals of database characteristics and structureDatabases are powerful tools that provide organizations with the information concerning all the activities performed. Databases help in keeping tracks of the inventory, billing, the payroll, and records of patients. For every company across the world, databases are very essential, in that, it allows the health or other organization database technician to edit and delete any information that looks ambiguous or add data that is important to the company. Databases are organized in a structured form, which include tables and indexes where tables are used to store data in the database. Organizations with databases tend to have data that are secured and cannot get accessed by unauthorized people. Databases also enhances speed to those firms that use it, computers are capable of restoring stored data as well as, upgrading it faster as compared to a normal human being who does it manually (Rob & Coronel, 2002).
Medical data and information records relevant to the projectThere are various medical data and information record that will be relevant to the database information system being implemented. The database information system will help to store all the records of all patients visiting the hospital. Medical data and information records that include, the names, address, age, gender and the categories of diseases should be entered correctly to the database for easy retrieval. The medical data and information records should be organized by the doctors to ensure that the information entered is of high quality, accurate, and can be easily accessed. Security should also be enhanced to limit people from accessing the whole database, because some people who are not health information technicians can delete the information within database. Patients are classified and categorized for reimbursement purposes in order to maintain the patients’ medical along with their treatment histories.
Importance of uniform terminology, coding and standardization of the data
A uniform terminology, coding and standardization of the data are designed to describe the care and the treatment of the patients. They support the records and reports for the patients’ care. Organizations within the healthcare industry should work with coded and standards of data as their sources for determining the reimbursement. Coded and standard of data are important in that, it provides an information with the highest quality for the reported information, not just for the reimbursement-related data. Coding also forms part of the current moves towards the implementation of standardized languages used for health purposes (Sciore, 2009).
Information standards and organizations applicable for the project
National Information Standard Organization (NISO) is one of the organizations that may be applicable when developing the database for information system. This body defines how computers can communicate by sharing resources for information retrieval. Implemented systems enable to access multiple systems by providing the end-user with a transparent access of other systems.
