The event that I will focus on in this paper is the Vail Dance Festival. The Festival is a two-week celebration of excellent artistry occurring in the heart of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Every year, the event offers more performances from the world’s well-known dancers and companies happening at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater. From the first time I started watching this event to the very end, I realized that its entirety accompanied every tap of dance I studied in the class readings. Each dance excelled in its performance, dancers showing the growth they have gained and the emotions that made each performance unique in its way. There was a very fast speed in the first dance, as several of the performer’s movements were short, sudden, and sharp. They used sharp accents with the bodies and their hand. From this dance, I saw that they were well organized. I liked the level changes and was much surprised to see lifts. The costumes were attractive and fashionable.

The Vail Dance Festival or event features both educational elements and performance, firmly establishing Vail Valleys as one of the best summer dance destinations in the universe. The Dance Festival was a product of the tremendously successful performances by the Bolshoi Ballet of Moscow. The Vail Dance Festival is an incubator of creation. It is found in a tiny town with fresh air, sweeping views, and a curated group of talented artists. It has every ingredient for the natural formation of art. The dancers always dance passionately with their bodies from feet to face. Their joy is contagious. Under the direction of Michelle Dorrance, most dances include choreographic efforts from the performing artists. The marrying of numerous genres of dance can be tricky, but in this event, Dorrance’s capability to deliver quality work is ever apparent. The choreographic dance effortlessly intertwines ballet, tap, lookin, and contemporary dance void o awkward transitions or void of gimmick. The whole cast commences onstage together. A risky duet between ABT’s and Jookin dancer becomes successful, and another short duet between ABT’s might only be the most wonderful thirty seconds of partnering I have ever seen.

In the second act, five men came full-fledged, showing off great litheness capabilities outfitted in their all-white clothing with hoods. They shared a unison that made me have different interpretations of the performance. For most of the performance, the man in the center gave me a sense that the others were mimicking his every move in reference to struggles one has within them daily. My interpretation of him is that I believed related in most of the performance is that he is a leader. Generally, the excellence of their performance was very nice. One could effortlessly tell that they were professional performers. The dance setting was romantic in a way that made me feel like they had known each other well for a long time. I could have a feeling of the connection as they were dancing. After some time, three of the performers who came and danced at the Vail Dance festival astonished me. The music that was playing was “Farruca Solo Compas.” Their dressing was the typical large flamenco outfit, with appropriate hairstyle and makeup.

All the dancers who performed in this dance event did it to their best. The lights were perfect; as they began, I could see their silhouettes dancing, and later they appeared. The performance atmosphere was much intense, and the sound as they tapped their legs against the floor, I could feel the liveliness that they were transmitting. Another thing is that the excellence of their concert was very nice, sometimes they were not coordinated, but they did it with a lot of security and confidence. Furthermore, there was also the music called Fue en Sevilla” by Salamarina, and the dance referred to as “La Primera Vez.” As the movement demonstrated emotion, so did their face. I liked the use of their shirts as a prop; it was very creative. After their dance performance, slow dark emotional music occupied the auditorium. Despite the fact that the entry was melodramatic, I liked it. The movements were not significantly faster as they included walking and slow-motion gestures. All the dancers moved in unity, but individually they appeared to produce a dissimilar kind of energy from their bodies. Apart from the timing that they made, the sharp movements were also perfect. As the dance was progressing, all f them danced with the rhyme of the beat. I liked their music choice since it was great and their movements were very prodigious too. Another thing that I liked and really enjoyed was their use of toe points.

This evident and the dances in it were so good. I could feel the intensity of the dance. It was just like I wanted to stand up and begin dancing like them; It Is just that I did not know the moves. Subsequently, I think my best dance of the performance took place, it was known as “Ode to the Borderlands.” It was a combination of a number of Latin dance styles. The music was “Cuando Piendo en Ti” by Jose Feliciano, “Arrecotin Arrecotan” by Celia Cruz, and “Celia y Tito” by Celia Cruz and Tito Puente. It was full of joy and happiness. I could smile by hearing the songs and watch them dance.

Summary of the First Article

The first article seeks to answer the question of whether aging is associated with increased inflammatory activity or not. From the article reading, aging is a leading factor in the progressive decrease of muscle flexibility and strength. When people exercise, the risk of cardiac emergency increases substantially. Several physicians have argued that those people who have grown old and intend to exercise ought to undergo exhaustive preliminary screening, including an electrocardiogram. It might be necessary if the individual purposes to embark on a very energetic competitive exercise. However, it is not desirable if older individuals desire to increase their regular daily physical activity.

Those individuals who are young cover the period from 20-35years of age, when physical performance and biological function reach their peak. Physical activity normally wanes during young middle-age, which is between 35-45 years, with a 5-10 kg accumulation of body fat. In the early old age, which is 65-75 years, there might be a slight upsurge of physical activity in an effort to fill free time as a result of retirement. In summary of this article, it aims to give information that exercising improves free testosterone in lifelong sedentary aging men. Since the effect of high-intensity interval training on systematic hormones in aging men is not studied well enough, this article seeks to investigate whether sex hormone-binding globulin, total testosterone, and cortisol were changed after HIIT in a cohort of 22 lifelong sedentary older men (Hayes, 306). In the reading of this article, exercising on a regular basis aids individuals to age more slowly and live healthier, more vigorous lives. It is essential in helping people live for a long time. This article attempts to give an evaluation and analysis of exercising, protein nutrition, and aging. The research question in this article focuses on the way elderly people can decrease their chances of sarcopenia. One common thing is that protein intake and strength conditioning can aid in increasing muscle size (Evans, 3). This article uses the method of strength training through weight lifting. The variable is muscle mass because the muscle mass changes depending on how often the aging trains by lifting weights. From the article, aging is associated with notable changes in body composition. Sarcopenia, which is a process of skeletal muscle loss, is a prominent feature of these changes. Moreover, gains in visceral fat and total body fat content continue into the aging life.

The elderly individuals are the target audience in this article. The finding of this reading indicates that aging takes a big toll and transforms the body structure, which results in the increase of dietary protein requirements. The research backs up these findings because if old individuals strength train, they become less likely to have muscle mass loss. From the article, the cause of sarcopenia is probably a result of several changes that also happen with aging. They include changing endocrine function, reduced physical activity levels, increased dietary protein needs, and insulin resistance. Whereas a lot of elderly individuals take a sufficient amount of protein, several of them have a reduced appetite and consume less than the protein RDA, probably leading to an augmented rate of sarcopenia.

Rogerian Argument on Police Brutality

In this paper, I will analyze and respond to an argument on the Police Brutality article regarding policing in the United States. This argument is in the form of the Rogerian argument style. It is evident that police brutality has turned out to be more of a worry within the last two decades. There have been frequent riots, and fatal shootings are becoming common. In several shootings, police officers are not held accountable for their murders; hence, they will continue with the same mistake. From the article, ‘Police Brutality in the United States, the excessive and unwarranted use of force against civilians by the police, police brutality has a negative impact on society. It is significant to scrutinize the different perspectives of police brutality (Leornard). The occupation of being a police officer is a dangerous job, and they are more than probably to be put in circumstances when extreme force is required. However, other times they use excessive forces for their personal whys and wherefores, such as racism. The issue of them using excessive force ought to be of great concern, but both society and the public should regard it.

Forms of police brutality have ranged from torture, assault and battery, murder, and mayhem. Some wider descriptions of police brutality as well include verbal abuse, intimidation, and harassment, among other forms of mistreatment. The police officers who are still the law enforcement personnel, like all other individuals, have downsides, and the state of affairs they face are most times dangerous and need a rapid response. They happen to serve as an integral part of society as its protectors. The career of a police officer is considered honorable since they catch criminals, save lives, and are concerned with the keeping of order. The model cop does not constantly correspond to realism. Besides the few good cops who save lives and are at all times ready to provide assistance, there is always a bad cop who is not noticed by the superiors. Occasionally, individuals, influenced by power, who did not have the chance to recognize their desire, fall into police officers’ positions. The price of unlawful police doings is very high. It is demonstrated in undermining respect for law enforcement establishments, which produces a split between society and the police.

For the reason that some police officers are ruthless in situations when it is not required, their brutality should be addressed. Some might feel as if excessive force is essential when tackling the so-called criminals. Many people are stuck in the outlook that all law enforcement officers are there to offer assistance, and the amount of force depends on the victim. This is an instance of what persons on the opposing side have to assert. Police have a tough but very significant role within our society which is to protect and serve. The exact kind of their position at the front-line denotes they often find themselves in the most violent of conditions. Such risky circumstances depend on instinct and even self-protection to keep situations from getting out of hand. This information is partially true; however, self-defense does not need a police officer to use excessive force on the individuals in the society. Another opposing statement was made by a writer known as Summer Tyme which asserts that “I have never been a police officer, I can go by what I have seen on law enforcement shows, the news, and my experience in my society. I think they are given a hard enough job devoid of being accused of police brutality every time some criminal acquires a bruise.” (Tyme). The statement gives all the more reasons to communicate reasons for having viewpoints against police brutality. We should be against police brutality, and in any case, excessive force is not always required. Those people who oppose this statement should deliberate on the negative consequences of police brutality on innocent persons and society. There are so many people who have been killed, yet they were not on the wrong side of the law.
