Rhetoric and Analytic style of writing

I realized rhetoric was depicted as just any sort of persuasive writing. I don’t think that coercion is rhetoric but is used for persuasion or trying to convince. It seems to me to be an opportunity to shed light on a certain subject that some students have never known before. It seems necessary for college students to learn to use rhetoric because there’s a point in their lives where they have to stand up for something they believe.

I accept that rhetoric is the art of convincing and leading since rhetorical speakers appear to be highly convincing and have a sense of leadership that blows away their audiences. Kayla Itsines, the most famous personal Instagram trainer, is one example of this. She is very diligent and persuades her public effectively to work towards a better body. Her own “Bikini Body Guides” are strongly promoted. As a pioneer in weight loss, she is proven to show.

I presume that “peer pressure” may be an example of expression and rhetoric. Often, I’ve allowed this rhetorical type to reach me too far. I was given a complete metaphor in this case, and the reasoning was messed up. I hung out and pulled a group of friends, one of them. He enlightened it and handed it on to me. I had never smoked before, so I had tried to deny that, but he still taunted me and told me that it was easy. He felt the need to tell me that he would roll up his problems when he rolled a new one, lick his solutions, inhale the ‘good shit’ and exhale the ‘bull shit.’ So I decided to try it. It got me into a bit of trouble at the end of the day, and I would never smoke if I went there.

This might sound stupid, but I tried to convince my mother to unground me recently. For some reason, I felt suicidal and lived in a concentration camp for some time. I, therefore, think I would use pathos to describe my emotions. I believe I feel that we, as a species, are made up of emotion. You must apply pathos to persuade people honestly. I shall take as an example the speech of Mayor Landrieu on the demolition of confederate monuments. Although the speech includes symbols, it is the pathos that impacts the audience and makes it consent to the action.

I learn more about watching something done. I can reproduce the acts and do the job. I’m an auditory learner, too. I get the most from listening to lectures or discussions. Visual learners have the best time to learn the things they should watch. I think we’re all comprised of a mixture of three types of learning. Visual, auditory, and kinesthetic are all essential forms of learning. It’s more complicated than just three easy lists. People have all three pieces. Things are visually simple for me, but I often need to interpret directions, and t all depends on what kind of topic it is. All can be modified to suit the learning of an individual. Some people profit from seeing math issues in a clear form. Example 4+4=8 and others need a word problem. Some topics will always be simple for people, and they will have problems with others, so not all styles are effective for everything.

Reflective Mini Essay Assignment

The primary purpose of an annotated bibliography is to provide a summary of the most significant concerns, debates, and studies about a specific subject area, find possible differences in the interpretations and theoretical views offered on that subject, as well as criticisms of the more prevalent viewpoints, and find the links between all of the different sources of information. This reflective mini-essay paper will discuss two skills mentioned in the paper 3 instructions, explain how learning or improving on these skills will help to strengthen my college writing skills and post a question that I hope will be answered as we work our way through the unit 3. Also, this paper will discuss if I have ever completed an annotated bibliography for a high school writing course and state the importance of completing an annotated bibliography as a step in the writing process. Lastly, the paper will address different aspects of these assignments that I feel will be more challenging as we work our way through the writing process.

Some of the skills students must practice are synthesizing sources and avoiding plagiarism. Synthesizing sources means combining different sources to form a cohesive whole. By learning and improving my skills in synthesizing sources, I will be able to strengthen my college writing skills since I will be able to combine various sources, look for areas where these sources agree or differ then draw a broader conclusion about the topic I am writing about based on what the sources say. Also, this skill will help to improve my writing skills by helping me provide a visual representation of critical points that highlights where the ideas of different authors overlap. Besides, through improving on synthesizing resources, I will be able to improve my writing skills by integrating and tracking various resources, thus making better conclusions about a subject. Also, I will be able to demonstrate an understanding of information and knowledge, as well as my ability to link concepts and develop an argument. In addition, learning and improving how to avoid plagiarism will strengthen my writing skills by helping me do my work, establish my voice, and do my research carefully to avoid copy-pasting other people’s work. How does plagiarism affect academic writing?

In the past, I gained the experience of completing an annotated bibliography while in high school through the high school writing course. In high school, I learned that an annotated bibliography is a list of references on a specific subject followed by a summary or analysis of each listed work. In addition, I realized that the standard length of an annotation is always a single paragraph, but the instructor might require more. What seems essential or significant about completing an annotated bibliography as a step in the writing process for paper 3 is that writing an annotated bibliography might assist you in gaining a better understanding of different points of view surrounding your subject matter. By reading and reacting to a range of sources on a subject, you will start to realize what the problems are and what others disagree about, and you will then be able to build your perspective on the matter. In addition, by completing an annotated bibliography, you make an effort to investigate the topic more critically so that you may gather information for your annotation, which helps you to have a greater understanding of the topic and sources, thus being able to create your thesis.

As we work through the writing process, I feel that several aspects of this assignment will be challenging. First, I believe that finding and responding to reliable sources will be the most challenging aspect since when it comes to the information that can be obtained on the internet, there is no quality assurance, and anybody may publish anything they want. In addition, I believe that avoiding plagiarism will be another aspect that will provide a challenge because when we paraphrase certain materials, we may end up altering the meaning of what they were initially intended to convey. In addition, even if we prevent plagiarism by crediting our sources, the passages we surround in quotation marks always seem to be plagiarized when we check for plagiarism using Turnitin.

General Education

Education is not all about acquiring skills and knowledge that pertain to the preferred career. Thus, the education system has been set in a way that caters to expanding knowledge and thinking capacity of students. To do so, the system includes a General Education course that takes students through a development process to increase their knowledge and skills concerning life. The focus of General Education is to expand the student’s knowledge about several factors in life other than the course they are undertaking. This involves knowledge of humanity, the Natural World and Arts among other disciplines. The education is necessary, but the stage at which it is taught is the controversial issue about the system. The current education system has the course taught in college, but it is best for it to be introduced in high school.

Teaching General Education in high school rather than in college saves time spent relaying the concerned knowledge. As per now, the education system allows the course to be taught in a period of the two years in college and the knowledge concerning their careers in the remaining years. Instead of including the course in the college curriculum, it would be advisable to fix it in the high school education system (Gamble 66). The content taught in college under General Education courses is not too complex for high school students to comprehend the details. As such, that is a valid reason to move the course from the college curriculum to the high school one. This move offers the high school students an opportunity to learn about life and gain knowledge about subjects concerning various disciplines other than what they learn in class.

The two years college students spend undertaking the General Education course can be added in the last years spent studying details of the enrolled courses. College is a platform that students use to mold their future careers. Hence, upon enrolling in college, they choose the courses to undertake according to the desired future career upon completion of the studies. Undertaking the concerned courses that only relate to the future career saves time and helps the students focus on only the necessary knowledge. Cutting out the General Education course from college benefits the students who will have already studied the content in high school.

Clearly, the General Education course is an inevitable tool that is part of the learning system. Its role is highly required in the learning system, but it will be quite beneficial when it is placed in the high school curriculum. One of the purposes it serves in the curriculum is to feed the students with the knowledge that will help them perceive life’s challenges with ease (McGrath and Martin 88). For example, they will become all rounded individuals in life and their thinking capacity will be enhanced. Preparing the high school students prior to their college life is a crucial step that can be done by subjecting them to the General Education course.

The main beneficiaries of the General Education course in college are the investors who placed it in the curriculum. Students should be the main beneficiaries and offering General Education courses in high school offers a high chance of benefiting more individuals. Some of the students who complete their high school do not enroll for college education. Hence, if they are offered the General Education course in high school, they have what they need to face life and its challenges. Currently, the course is offered in colleges and denies such individuals the opportunity to attain knowledge under General Education.
