Politics, Bias and Media
There are so many topics that can be covered by media houses worldwide, but what the media house chooses to be aired out is determined by the kind of audience they are targeting. The media has no power to change what you think about a particular news headline, but it can make you weigh what is worth being aired. In this essay, a comparison between BBC News and New York Times on how they put out news will be discussed.
Agenda setting and priming
In terms of agenda-setting and priming, the topics given the most coverage differ in every media channel. For instance, on the BBC home page, the stories that have been given more coverage are political news from all parts of the globe, but the top headline is about us sanctions on Russia. BBC tries to cover news from all sectors, but they have not paid attention to what is trending globally, like the coronavirus vaccination. In the New York Times case, from the home page, it is evident that the media channel focuses most on the news related to the united states, unlike in BBC news. The topics leading in the home page are about the US sanctions on Russia and the covid-19 vaccination. In the New York times, political news is given more coverage than other news.
Framing
Comparing how the two media houses cover the issue of united states sanctions on Russia, the style of news coverage is different for the two. In BBC News, the format in which they have used to cover the information is very appealing because they have used subtopics to help the reader read effectively. In the New York times, the information has been presented in a prose form that can be very discouraging. In most cases, people prefer to read multiple short topics than one massive topic. In the BBC news cover story, they have highlighted how the Russian government has responded to the sanctions, unlike in the New York Times, where they have concentrated much on explaining why the united states have put the sanctions.
Bias
In terms of media bias, the New York times can be considered biased because of how it has covered the story. The media house has focused on showing why Russia has faced the sanctionS and how US-Russia relations have not been smooth. A media house that is not biased will make sure they put out both parties’ stories, like in the BBC, where Russia responded to the US sanctions.

Bromley & Shupe “The Tnevnoc Cult”
The cult is composed of some extreme practices that do not conform to the current religious groups and their practices to a great degree. However, they talk a lot about the willingness to please the almighty and the challenges which come with it. The Tnevnoc Cult focuses on making a person forget who they were and get a new life; however, this is not possible without efforts and many sacrifices that they are very good at. The culture and the cultural practices of the members are not very shocking. Rather they make me feel bad and pity for them. This view and feeling are because sometimes people pressure themselves so much for what is not worth the effort, and therefore it is better to live a good life rather than kneeling before a person to give them food (Bromley et.al, 363).
These acts of allegiance are very extreme, and this is against a person’s life since human beings are social, and their social life should not be cut to follow a religion or a god. This cult makes life very difficult for its members by prescribing almost mandatory fasting (Bromley et.al, 362) and food deprivation alongside other practices which do not give them a chance to remember who they were (Bromley et.al, 362). Therefore the general view of this religion is that it is awful, and it was especially wrong since they recruited members when they were teenagers, and when they were naïve, this can be said to have been destroying the lives of the recruited members.
These practices are not completely different from our daily struggles to please God. However, the strictness with which they followed every single part of what they were doing is what makes it different from how we try to deal with the issue of religion. Therefore, it reflects daily struggles people have and, to a very large extent, other religious groups, as stated in the texts, which are the unification and the divine light mission. Therefore it is a cult that is of essential consideration in our lives and reflects who we are in light of it. Apart from this, it is an opportunity for us to take care of ourselves and our loved ones from getting into such kinds of cults that prevent a person from their freedom and lead them into endless and purposeless suffering and lack of purpose (Bromley et.al, 364).

Abstract
This is the abstract page. Do not indent the abstract. It is left justified.
Title of Paper
Schools in the United States are using student-directed projects (Chowa, Plaskon & Ansong, 2010, p. 2). Student directed projects can help improve students’ leadership, innovation, and practice skills. Chowa et al. (2010) suggested that “the title of the paper is centered on the first line of the third page and is in uppercase and lowercase letters” (para. 2). Do not italicize the title or put it in quotes (Chowa, Plaskon & Ansong, 2010). The introduction begins on the line following the title of the paper. The entire paper, including the title page, abstract, body, and references, should be double-spaced. This is where your thesis statement goes.
In order to give proper credit to the ideas and words of others, any outside sources used in the body of the paper must be documented by citing the author(s) and date(s) of the sources. This is called an in-text citation. Each in-text citation must have a corresponding full source citation on the references page that follows the body of the paper. As noted by Stevens, Smith and Jones (2008), a signal phrase “signals to the reader that either a direct quote or a paraphrase is about to follow” (p. 5). As in this example, when the name of the author is part of the sentence, the year of the publication appears in parentheses directly following the author’s name, e.g., Stevens (2008). When the author of a source is not mentioned in the sentence, both the author and year of publication appear in parentheses (Stevens et al., 2008).
If a work has two authors, both authors are cited in each in-text citation to that source. For an in-text citation of a source with two authors, use the last names of both authors separated by an ampersand (&). When a source has between three and five authors, use all authors the first time the source is cited. For second and subsequent references to the source, use the first author’s last name and et al. without the quotes: (Cuddy, 2002). The words et al. will not be in italics and will have a period after the word al. If you cite the source again in the same paragraph the year is left out. For example, it would be (Jones et al., 2009) for the first citation of the source and then (Jones et al.) each additional time the source is cited in that same paragraph.
If there are six or more authors, use just the first author’s last name and et al. every time the source is cited. When no author is listed, use the first few words of the title in quotation marks for the titles of articles, book chapters or articles. When no publication date is listed, use the abbreviation n.d., which stands for no date. When a direct quote is taken from a source with page numbers, such as a book, magazine, or newspaper, include the page number as part of the citation. If the quote is fewer than 40 words, it should be enclosed in double quotation marks and should be incorporated into the formal structure of the sentence.
If the quotation that you are using is more than 40 words long, you must use a block quotation. This is a block quotation. In a block quotation, you should not use any quotations at all unless they are needed to indicate a quotation within the original text. (“APA Block Quotation,” n.d.)If you have a direct quote but your source does not have page numbers but does give paragraph numbers then you would give the paragraph number to show where you found your quote. It would look like this: (para 9). If there are no page numbers or paragraph numbers but headings are given, then give the heading and the number of the paragraph that follows it. You will need to count the paragraphs yourself since the numbers are not given. The in-text citation would look like this: (Franklin, 2009, Past Research section, para. 9). If the headings are too long to use in your in-text citation use a shortened version in quotation marks like this: (Lorraine, 2009, “Stock market trends,” para. 56).
The references section begins on a new page. The heading is centered on the first line of the new page. The references, which are double spaced, have a hanging indent and begin on the line following the references heading. Entries are organized alphabetically by whatever comes first in the reference (author last name or first word of title).
