Introduction
Working contributes to one’s happiness and builds confidence and self-esteem, mainly because of the financial reward that one gets. This is the belief that most of the people in the societies have. However, this may not be the case for some individuals. In Frayne’s book refusal to work, he states, “I quite like being unemployed. Financially it’s scary, but I’m doing stuff that I like every day. If the money weren’t a worry, and also the impending doom of getting made to get a job, I would just really love it.” (Frayne, 2015). This text shows that not everyone prefers working on getting the benefits that the community relates to working but value activities that they lack more than being involved in acts that provide finance, and they don’t like it.
In another text by Odell in the article’ Anatomy of Refusal’, it states, “Appearing as if you’re doing nothing is seen as a threat to the general working order of the company, creating a sense of the unknown.” (Odell, 2019). Odell’s text shows that while working, its almost impossible to stay idle as the act risks the firm financially. Therefore, from the two versions, it is evident that working is based on individual and corporate interests as other people work to be economically stable while benefitting a company and forego their interests. On the other hand, some feel they are better not working but happy with doing stuff they like. Both Odell and Frayne’s works can be integrated to determine the benefits of work and develop strategies in workplaces to ensure both individual and corporate interests are achieved.
Frayne’s Reasons for refusal to work
According to Frayne’s work, the text is derived from a character who received questions on why they are not working, and society feels pity for him. This idea is shown through the statement, “oh it’s terrible what you’re going through.” (Frayne, 2015). Unemployment is considered a terrible thing since it shows that the person is not financially supported; therefore, it lacks respect from people. However, the character’s perspective is different. According to the text, the character likes being unemployed because it allows him to perform activities that they want. Frayne’s view shows that people’s refusal to work is based on having a priority on their interests hence prefer engaging in stuff that they like. In another context, this means that employment is generally related to performing responsibilities that people do not like consequently are forced to engage in them. It makes one prefer to remain unemployed but engage in acts that they love.
On the other hand, Odell’s text is based on a person who is employed. However, as the character gazes, or stares into space, a lot of questions are directed to her wishing to know what she is doing. The notion of inactivity is a new concept for employed persons; hence are concerned with the character’s actions. The idea of inactivity in Odell’s work is considered a threat to the company, which creates a sense of the unknown. Here the ‘unknown’ factor is the economic effect that the company might have when employees fail to work as expected. Odell concludes the paragraph by stating that “The potential of nothing is everything.” (Odell, 2019). The statement shows that an effect on a single factor in an organization affects the entire organization. Therefore, if one person fails to perform their responsibility, the company is affected as a whole.
Similarities and Differences between Odell and Frayne.
Similarities. Odell and Frayne both address the issue of refusal of work. In Frayne’s point of view, the character refuses to work because he values activities he loves, more than working for financial benefits. On the other hand, Odell addresses the perception of employed individuals when they seem not to be working. Therefore, both contribute knowledge to the understanding of employment and benefits for working to individuals and corporates.
Differences. Frayne’s statement is based on the individual perspective of working, while Odell’s text is based on the corporate view. The statement from Frayne considers a personal reason for failing to work, and this is because of wanting to indulge in activities that they love. On the other hand, Odell addressed a person who is already employed but has to work to benefit the company. If they fail to work, then the company is at risk of the unknown. Also, Frayne shows that people have the right to make their choices concerning working, while in Odell’s work, the responsibilities are defined by the employer, and when they are not working, they have to be liable to the risks that occur.
Personalization of Concept
Having employment or working to get financial benefits from jobs is an essential action among people within a community. People study to get employed and be able to be paid for the services they provide. However, there are those people who are talented with activities that they wish to indulge in all their lives. After finishing studies, it is usually people’s dreams to find a job that pays well for them to live a happy life. However, this was different for a friend as al she wanted was to play musical instruments. Having influential parents, she got a lot of job offers, but she was not interested in any of them. Her reason for that was there is no freedom in being employed, and she will not be able to continue with what she loves most. Therefore, her interest was in playing music, and that is what she continued doing irrespective of not getting any financial benefits from it.
This concept relates to both Odell and Frayne’s texts. Frayne addressed the refusal of work due to individual interests in activities they love. From experience, music was of interest than being employed in an organization. Also, using Odell’s theory of employment dictates what you have to do, and this is the same perspective she had of job. However, it is possible to consolidate both ideas to improve the perspectives of people working in organizations and be able to perform activities they like as well as contribute to the company’s objectives. Corporations and individuals can benefit from the ideas of the authors through assigning responsibilities that relate to an individual’s talents and hobbies.
Integration of Odell and Frayne’s ideas
From the first Frayne text, appearing to work is a contribution to the company and individuals seeming to work, have a better experience in the workplace. In another text from Frayne’s work, it states, “Look, I’m not a bum, I’m not a scrounger,’ whereas I shouldn’t have to defend myself or justify what I’m doing. I shouldn’t have to explain it like that, but there is that defensiveness because the culture is so judgmental.” (Frayne, 2015). According to the character, explanations have to be made to people to prevent them from misinterpreting the issue. The author mentions that the culture is so judgmental; hence creating explanations is better than being honest to avoid social judgments.
Also, in Odell’s text, the colleagues at work are all concerned about the character’s behavior of failure to work. They keep asking since, to them, they believe that failing to work is a threat to the company. In another text from the same work, Odell states, “We want to pay you as good wages as the industry can afford. We always have paid top wages—and hope to keep it up. Recovery is not yet here—it is only on the way. You’re hurting, not helping, to bring it back for yourselves, for us, and San Francisco.” (Odell, 2019). From the statement, good wages are earned by the employees. As the employer puts it, it is the employees that could bring recovery to themselves and get good wages by working hard to contribute to the company.
These two perspectives of the authors can be used to enhance activities in an organization to improve the working of individuals. This application is through Frayne’s idea of refusing to work due to the wish to undertake activities that they love. Therefore, cooperation can use this by giving responsibilities that relate to a person’s talents and what they love. For example, an individual with more passion in writing may be given the responsibility to write blogs for a company. Through this process, Odell’s idea of working to benefit the company comes in. When individuals work involves what they love, they will work passionately, consequently contributing to the objectives of a company. It will benefit both an individual and the company.
Conclusion
Frayne and Odell’s ideas contribute to the concepts of working and can be applied by cooperates to improve experiences in a firm. As both authors address refusal to work, Frayne concentrates more on an individual’s benefits while Odell emphasizes on corporate interests. The ideas can be used to enhance corporate experiences by improving working experiences through allowing employees to undertake activities that relate to what they love hence benefiting themselves and also the company.

Apocalypse and the watchers
Apocalypse means to reveal or to expose a certain thing from a manner in which it is hidden. It is this same concept that is directly applied and used by the holy bible in the discussion about the experiences of different servants of God as clearly indicated in the bible. Some of these servants in the apocalyptic era make a lot of impact and contribution not only to the Jewish ways of living at that particular time but also to the current age Jewish understanding of the current world as well as Christians. This is because the Jewish literature forms part of the Christian bible as part of the Old Testament and therefore it is upon this that the discussion herein is based. The role of God at this apocalypse period is seen as one that only portrayed his wishes and desires among the people he had chosen through the various and different prophets he has. This paper, therefore, discusses the elements of apocalyptic literature in Daniel chapter 7-12 and the watchers about the book of Enoch giving examples of how the different aspects of this literature are presented and how they are presented affects how we understand their meanings. Like it is in Daniel chapter 7-12 the apocalyptic literature was mainly written when the Israelites were in prison or in places where they could not be fully productive due to them being taken as captives. This mostly happens with different kingdoms that God allowed to take the children of Israel as captives after being unable to obey him to the latter. Therefore this type of literature is intended to support these Israelites emotionally and assure them that everything else was okay and that their god had not forgotten them and therefore he was about to set them free. Stanley (482-484), explains the features of apocalyptic writings and how they are structured. Through this, we also learn that even though this is meant for literary critique it is important as it helps us understand what apocalyptic literature means since after understanding the concept and the kind of language, as well as styles, used it becomes very easy to understand.
The major theme in the apocalypse of Daniel is the eminent presence of dreams. It is through these that he gets all the information that he has to pass to the people from the almighty God and therefore this acts as one of the best ways of the passage of this information through dreams. According to the bible, these dreams are all believes to be of very great significance, and even though at times he is unable to understand what the dreams meant he still relied on the nature and importance of different types of interpretation like the angels to come and tell him what the dreams meant. This also brings to our information about the importance of dreams as a manner of extension some people can still get intriguing dreams when they sleep and which communicate an important aspect of the people of the age in which the person lives in.
The dreams employ a very wide variety of imagery and therefore this makes the work of literate even more complicated and almost unable to comprehend. However, the dreams and the imagery are used for a specific purpose. The first apocalypse can be seen from Daniel 7:1-14 and this is later given an interpretation by an angel later in 15-27. In this apocalyptic dream, there is a use of a lot of imaginative symbolic imagery. This kind of imagery is a special selection of the manner of portrayal as Daniel can give a clear picture of what he sees through the form and writing and this audience can speculate. Even though the outside human ability to comprehend we can understand and know what it means to have these types of images. Some of the common images displayed in this are the four winds, the four beasts from the sea, and the great beast. All these displayed through different types of explanations of imagery guide us and help us to realize that imagery is a special tool of this type of writing. It also comes out that imagery related to the issue of dreams brings a kind of sense and trying to understand these writings from a general point of view as well as deepened view is important.
In Daniel 10:1-14, we realize that herein there is a vision of an angel who is also a great significant type of imagery whereby we can try to visualize an angel and its role in the lives of human beings with a special focus on this project.
In the second part, the watchers are described and shown as significant elements of Enoch’s writing. This is because they are giant bodies of ‘monsters’ that needed to be done away with. These off springs were seen as results of relations between man and the angels and therefore this was not acceptable. Through this, writing we also identified a lot of imagery. This is because it is only focused imagery that can help us to fully understand what is meant by the different writings and aspects of this type of history which most of the time is not fully acceptable or compatible with the minds of human beings. Therefore this calls for better skills in imagery interpretation. This applies especially to the imagery that is not up to the standard of human beings and thus outside the human sphere.
The creation of these watchers was contributed by Nephilim. Even though the watchers are not talked about in the bible the answer to the question of where they are found is mainly found in the book of Enoch as it is a very essential part of their formation. The book of Enoch, therefore, is descriptive through the different types of imagery that is passed down and that is discussed generally about the fallen angels and their interaction with human beings and as well as how the watchers were created. This is an important synthesis of understanding and simplification of what the images mean and therefore it is of very significance and importance to human beings.
Even though to an extent it does not sound real it is indicated that some angels disagreed with the almighty in heaven. Due to this, they came to Mount Hermon, and through their presence with women produced what was unable to be understood but which a person will need to focus on about the different aspects of understanding this imagery. Even though some of the names of the archers were not known in the book, Enoch describes how everything happened during the period of being caught up mating with a person, not of this world. It is a very important aspect of this type of literature that should never be left out because of its peculiar needs and aspects. most of the time therefore the images and work have closely related to the need for us to understand that it is difficult to get a proper picture and understanding of what is being proposed about eth giant individuals.
Even though the watchers were generally not humans they were also not supernatural beings and therefore were a complex part of the society to understand. And therefore even though the imagery is greatly used in the writing there is still no use as it is used in Ezekiel and therefore it is a very important and crucial mission to attempt to and try to think outside the confinements of what human beings can do and what this means to the current society. The kind of language employed in eh book of Daniel is a lot and of great value. However still in eh book of Enoch this is affirmed and supported even through the efforts of the modernism desire and will to understand the different perspectives of imagery as used in these two works of art as drawn from the bible.
The belief in God and the belief that Israel was the chosen nation have always brought issues among non-Jews. Even though this is still not the case most people still cling to their beliefs and different types of faith that it is possible to differentiate Christianity from Judaism. The belief and faith about then being chosen as well as them being destined for greater and better things to make life valuable and therefore they do not consider the other communities very much as they are referred to as outsiders. This relates closely to understanding us to become unique and better and realize that the two stores discussed above are of great significance.
In conclusion, therefore, we can say the use of imagery plays an important role in the making of these stories and therefore it is through the making of proper references and proper reflections that we can focus on what is good and what is not good. This also helps us understand what can be conceivable and what we can understand only partially despite all the efforts.

There has been a heated debate about whether student-athletes need to be in school. They have shown a very general poor performance problem and therefore it is a discussion which cannot be avoided. Therefore in line with this, I will focus on the reasons why the student-athletes perform so poorly, what makes them perform in this way and how the situation might be helped to improve. I will also get into what benefit they bring to the schools, to themselves as well as to their peers.
Background research
According to the national collegiate athletic association (NCAA), almost everyone needs a good education, which is why this association sets an academic bar for one to achieve so that they might be allowed to participate in their sports (NCAA, 2020). The bar set is a clear indication that most of the time student-athletes have a poor performance.
According to (Oppenheimer,2015), student-athletes have a similar mind of poor performance. This peer pressure is brought in by the fact that other members of the athletes’ teams do not care much about academics. Therefore even if a person tries to get a lot of interest in academics at the end of the day they are unable to succeed due to the mind-set of their fellow athletes and thus the athlete finds himself into the mind-set that academics is not so important as sports are. Even though it is true that the athletes help the school to some extent to excel when it comes to issues to do with sports, it does not take away the fact that most of them perform very poorly. One of the major strategies put into place is setting a bar for any athlete to be allowed to get involved in any athletic activity once they reach that bar (Curtis, 2006). However, this does not always prove to work in some cases, while it works in other instances.
Therefore, studies to students are generally just as critical as sports and focus on athletics to the students. These two are very related and very close, and thus, separating them is a challenge. This is because any school always wishes to produce an all-rounded person. This means that they have to encourage their students to exercise just as much as they should join in academics. This makes the students physically fit and at the same time cognitively fit and active.
According to research conducted by sports in June 2019, Miami’s dolphins are renowned for their excellent performance when it comes to sports. There have been many questions about how they can do that, but this specific report brings out a clear picture of possibility. The Miami Dolphins have their management and planning team of very well-educated professionals. This means that their mental capacity is fully used to make decisions for the team and strategize different things and win.
The same is applied to high school students who can be of great work. When a person is mentally active, they generally become bright. Therefore this brightness can be used in the field during athletics to make sure they can win. In most times in as much as physical ability is essential, it needs to be used together with the mental capacity to realize success. Therefore the role of studies in athletics is to help the athletics make the best decisions in the field and thus constitute their success.
Methodology
The main purpose of this paper is to identify the reasons why student-athletes perform so poorly. Due to this student athletics were asked oral questions as well as library research concerning the student-athletes.
Sample description
A total of 20 respondents were involved in the research. This included 3 teachers, 5 athlete students, 5 teachers, 5 parents, and 2 coaches. Out of the twenty 13 were male while 7 were female. Their ages ranged between 16 to 40 years of age.
Sample technique and procedure
For the research about this paper convenient, voluntary, and non-random methods were used in the finding of participants of the survey. The respondents were contacted through phone calls, text messages, and also through WhatSapp.
Ethical consideration
Consent was always sought from the person being interviewed and there was a presence of a consent form which was provided to prove that the information was collected willingly by the respondent from him or her.
Data analysis method
For this, the frequency distribution method was used.
Findings
The research came up with many findings among athletes especially the ones involved in active athletic activities. Even though it was not everyone who was an athlete they had strong opinions concerning the athletes and what they can do instead of just focusing on one area which is sports. When asked to describe why athletes fail their examinations 70% of the respondents stated that the athletes were never concerned about education therefore they could not avoid failing. 30% of the respondent’s associated failure with the lack of proper attention and care both from home as well as at home.
The next question was what could one balance between academics and athletes and it was not an easy one as almost every person gave a problem and how they could serve them. However, 40% of the respondents stated that they could make a timetable of what they are supposed to do them they do it according to their timetable.
The response to the question on gender in athletes and how lack of emotional support makes them vulnerable to negative suggestions also had a variety of answers. In the first part of the gender question, 50% of the respondents stated that girls need to be much more involved in this kind of sports but also watch their performance very well for a balance. In the second part, 80% of the respondents stated that at home the athletes should be given the emotional support they deserve.
Project goal
The goal of this research is to identify the issues which make athletes perform poorly and try to get solutions to these or rather a balance between academics and athletics. You will be able to identify the issues which make the athletes perform poorly as well as what other contributing factors there are and how they can be solved.
Research objectives
The research will show that I will interview 20 respondents. These respondents include; 3 teachers, 5 athlete students, 5 teachers, 5 parents, and 2 coaches. The student-athletes will bring to the attention of the audience what they can do or not do. They will also be able to discuss how difficult it is for them to balance studies and athletics.
