Introduction
Employee discrimination is an issue affecting various workers worldwide resulting into emotional and physical torture to the victims. In Wal-Mart, there have been quite a number of cases of employee discrimination especially concerning gender biasness amongst its many workers. Sex discrimination particularly in Dukes vs. Wal-Mart case was just among the many cases that evidently showed one of the biggest class action bias suits on record that raised eyebrows from the legal experts (Shapiro 2012).
Wal-Mart believes that women do not have adequate abilities as compared to men. It is assumed that male is a superior gender who has sufficient qualification to hold higher positions in the Wal-Mart’s structural system. The company has discriminatory way of wage determination and promotions that only favor men. Although, Wal-Mart gender matters are very sensitive even in the place of work particularly how the employees themselves discuss it, the management has not successfully addressed the issues (Shapiro 2012).
There has been an increased incidence of filling suits against the company, which many legal experts think that may not be successful just like the Supreme Court’s ruling in Betty Duke’s case. Nevertheless, the company has always denied any mistake by asserting that their corporate policy prohibits inequity and guarantees fairness even when their counsel termed women as people lacking enough in common to call themselves a class in duke’s case. the male managers are the beneficiaries of gender discrimination in the company have also promoted this act in various incidences such as in 2001 when a male manager told a female employee to drop her law suit if she wanted to advance in the company (Shapiro 2012).
Another incidence that validates the gender bigotry in Walmart is the case of Pamela Collins who despite having over 18 years retail experience accompanied with excellent performance, has been neglected for numerous promotions in favor of her male counterparts who did not even have enough experience as she does. The management in some stores argue that the female assistant are enough and therefore no more absorption can be done in those positions even without justifying what is enough. Pamela has made several failing attempts to her bosses requesting for promotions. There are general denial of promotions and common enumeration to all female employees more so in Texas where an employee went to ask her district manager why her male counterpart was earning more than she did but the manager responded that it was common and usual for men to earn more (Shapiro 2012). In a different occasion in Houston and Abilene stores, the management claimed that men have many responsibilities such as supporting their families and that, the female employees should just be contented with their earnings.
The company surprisingly, is still working on ways to dismiss gender favoritism cases on the grounds that there are indeed class differences. In fact due to the complexity of the class action discrimination cases and its interpretation in the supreme court, some law experts suggests that it can only succeed if it is filed on a much smaller scale by an individual. However, due to the cost of individual suit and inability to prove evidence, class action is undoubtedly the best way of winning a case against corporate muscle (Shapiro 2012). In deed the employee discrimination is real in Wal-Mart Company but the class action issue greatly undermines the case in the Supreme Court. The company should improve on its employment policies to equally favor every employee regardless of their sexes.

Introduction
The increased growth and operational scope of the company Southern Life Insurance has undoubtedly been appreciated as it enhances the strength of the company, as well as its sustainability. This growth has also necessitated the hiring of additional employees. Recent times have seen an increase in the cases of sexual harassment in the company. The company has a legal obligation to abide by the provisions of the constitution and especially Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 regarding sexual harassment (Boland 10). It is imperative that all employees of Richmond are aware of what sexual harassment is along with company policies on the same. Any actions necessary for compliance to the provisions need to be encouraged alongside any necessary changes. This would safeguard the company’s safe working environment for all employees and strengthen relationships in the team.
What is Sexual Harassment?
In general terms, the term sexual harassment may be used to underline the coercion or bullying of sexual nature, or the inappropriate and unwelcome promise of rewards so as to get sexual favors (Boland 13). However, the comprehensive definition of the term states that it underlines unwelcome requests for sexual favors, sexual advances, as well as other physical or verbal conduct that is sexual in nature and that creates an offensive or hostile work environment (Boland 14).
This may also encompass offensive remarks done against the opposite sex such as display of distasteful pictures, teasing, sexual jokes, stories, and other offensive remarks comprise the sexual harassment. Such actions can establish a hostile work environment in which all or some of the employees feel uncomfortable or offended. This may come from any individual irrespective of position in company, gender, sexual orientation or even race.
What is the Policy of Southern Life Insurance Company?
The Southern Life Insurance Company has a zero tolerance for any form of workplace harassment, regardless of whether a person is an employee or not or whether the person involved is on the Southern premises, working on-site or off-site. Some examples of intimidating and harassing behavior involve:
Display of offensive material or telling offensive jokes
Unwanted physical contact
Actual or threatened violence
Sexual advances/ Requests for sexual favors
Looks
Comments
Physical contact
Stereotyping
Any kind of harassment should be reported immediately. The company will protect from retaliation any person who is in good faith that reports harassment or provides information in an investigation.
What Changes are Necessary? It is imperative that all employees comply with the company policy if not doing so. On the same note, any cases of sexual harassment should be reported immediately, irrespective of the embarrassment and intimidation with which such an action may come. However, informing the perpetrator that such actions or advances are unwelcome and in bad taste would go a long way in averting the possibility of it happening in the future.
In addition, being your brothers’ or sisters’ keeper I recommended. Employees should report cases of sexual harassment even when they are not happening to them so as to nip the vice in the bud. Joining hands with the victim to ward off the perpetrator would also be imperative as it would not only create a conducive work environment but also enhance cooperation among the workers. Moreover, it is important to keep the co-workers in check other than being personally responsible for yourself. Increased cooperation would enhance the safety and comfort of the work environment and ensure increased job satisfaction.

IntroductionThis paper gives a presentation of a compared and contrasted data between job categories, finances, real estates and transportation from 2009 to 2012 in the state of economic in New Jersey. According to Neill, Shinske & Wichert (2012), they measure their jobs, finances, real estate and transportation annually using recent available data so that they are making sure they never holds the Christie lack of growth in all categories; however the data is presented to the New Jersey so that they can decide for themselves whether there is a comeback.
Jobs CategoryIn the jobs category, there are declines in the public-sector employment while an increase in the private-sector employment. This might be as a result of increase in the population and inflation within the states of New Jersey making private companies to start their own businesses so that they can hire the unemployed people, rather the state’s unemployment rate of New Jersey from 2010 to 2012 originally may have fell because of the new changes of the states that could have come up as a result of poor management and governing.
Real EstateIn the real estate sector there have been various changes that are observable between 2009 and the first quarter of the year 2012.the real estate sales are decreasing gradually from the data available. These sales are seen to undergo a downward trend when a comparison is made. The median home value is also going down when a comparison is made between the years. The citizens are reducing on buying of houses and this can be connected with the reducing valuation of the housing. The median housing values are decreasing and that is why the sales are going down since no one is willing to purchase this houses. This valuation is also decreasing as they are affected by factors such as affordability ratio and the price to let ratio. Housing still remains in excess supply since the household formation rates remain depressed. On the other hand the percentage of the mortgage loans in foreclosures continues to rise from 2009 to the present times (Tyrrell, 2012). This is because many of the borrowers are caught in a situation where they are unable to pay up the mortgages in time. This still narrows down to the employment state in NJ and the availability of finances.
FinancesThere is a decrease in state budget from 2009 to 2012 signifying that there has been proposed less spending in the fiscal year. Less spending signifies that, the state of New Jersey managed to adopt new methods of governing and management tactics which helped them to plan properly on how they can spend money which involves the outflow and the inflow within the company. The average property taxes have also continued increasing while the average property taxes after rebate causing an increase in the gross domestic product growth of the people in the states of New Jersey.
TransportationThe use of bridges and tunnels from NJ to NY is seen to be steady with no changes between these years. The use of Turnpike from Trenton to Newark is seen to have been constant up until 2012 when an increase was recorded. The use of parkway route from Bloomied to Belmar was also constant until an increase was recorded in 2012 .this so because there have been significant constructions and repairs in these routes that have now enabled more people to use them. The gas prices in NJ have been increasing at an almost same rate with the rest of the U.S between these years. This can be attributed to the higher crude oil prices due to the tensions observed in the Middle East and also the general state of economy worldwide
