The Hebrew Bible is also known as Mikra or TaNaKh, which is an acronym that refers to the traditional Jewish division of the Bible into the Torah the teaching, Nevi’im the prophets and Ketuvim the writings. It is the founding document of the people of Israel that gives descriptions of its origins, history and visons of how a just society should be. This paper will give an explanation of how the Hebrew Bible literature forms religion in humanity. The main objective is to show how human life relates to the stories of the Hebrew Bible and how faith obtains eternity and God is the one who created all these.

Generally the Hebrew Bible gives an account of how God dealt with the Jews being his chosen people who referred to themselves as Israel. After an account of the creation of the world by God and the coming up of human civilization, the first six books are a narration of not just the history but also the genealogy of the people of Israel to how the conquered and settled in the promised land under the terms of the covenant between God and Abraham. This covenant was renewed by Isaac, Abraham’s son and his grandson Jacob and later on by Moses. The seven books that follow continue this story of the Promised Land that gives a description of people’s constant apostasy and also the breaking of the covenant. They also show the establishment and development of monarchy so as to counter this as well as warnings given by prophets of an impending divine punishment and the need for Israelites to repent. The last eleven books are on poetry, theology and more history (Routledge, 2014)

The Hebrew bible is mainly a monotheistic interpretation of human life and the universe as work of God’s creation which gives a basic structure of ideas that gave rise to Judaism, Christianity and also Islam that came about from Jewish and Christian tradition that see Abraham as a patriarch.

The Hebrew bible states that God reveled himself to man in the book of Genesis; he spoke with Adam an Eve in the Garden of Eden, with Cain, Noah and his sons and also with Abraham. In the book of Exodus, the Angel of God appeared to Moses in a burning bush that was not consumed. In the same book God reveals his divine presence and his protection to the people of Israel by leading them from Egypt and through the desert by appearing as a cloud pillar during the day and a fire pillar at night. On Mount Sinai, God’s manifestation was accompanied by thunder and lightning, loud trumpets and smokes and quakes. This stories from the Hebrew bible give an insight on how God reveled himself to the people of Israel. This shows that God wanted the people of Israel to feel his presence. What this teaches us about God is that he wants us to know him and know that he exists. Therefore the Hebrew Bible helps us acknowledge that God exists and he should be worshipped as the true God. The content from the Hebrew bible helps us form a basis for religion in humanity since we get the implication that God is there since he reveled himself to his people (Routledge, 2014).

From the Hebrew bible we also see that the people of Israel were given a set of rules that they were to follow and live by. God wanted the people of Israel to live in an organized society and hence provided them with the laws that they were to follow. In addition to creating the world for us God made sure that he gave us instructions on how to live peacefully with each other. The Hebrew Bible shows just how a just society should be according to the laws given to the people of Israel.

From the Hebrew Bible we are able to gather that God wants his people to know him and hence religion should be based on him and him only. Therefore the literature in the Hebrew Bible forms a basis for religion in humanity.

Background to the Study

Education in every sector contributes to people’s social and economical welfare and at the same time contributes immensely towards political growth of every country. Participation in the political arena over the past has been engineered by the level of education the people have or aspire to attain. Political office holders and those aspiring tend to be of high socioeconomic status hence furthering the impact of class of every country’s politics especially in America. The wealthy and well educated individuals in every society are more likely to participate in political affairs of the country, for example, voting during political elections or fund political parties in the country unlike the less educated. In many cases, those who vote as members of social class can be said to be participating in an identity politics. Educational attainment is an indicator of social class that can predict one’s level of participation in political issues in the country. Those with higher educational level are more likely to vote or vie in political elections unlike their counterparts with low level of education.

Research Question

This study is guided by the following research question:

How does one’s level of education influence his/her political class?

Importance of this Study Question

Social class influences people’s level of political participation and political maturity in every country. Those with higher education are more likely to attend public forums where political decisions are made or legislative matters are discussed. These are the major financiers of political parties in the country and they actively participate in the voting process during the general or political elections in the country. The opinion and ideas of the literate in the society will be mostly taken in and respected in any political forums and they usually receive overwhelming support from their supporters during political rallies. These educated elites can sell their policies to the electorates and diffused their intended messages to the audience in any forums unlike the less educated in the society.

Related Theories and Literatures

Well educated and rich citizens are more likely to vote and donate funds to politicians than the lower class individuals with low education background. The trend implies that the middle and upper class or the well offs in a society as some may call them have a greater political participation and aspirations than the less educated in the society. This makes the elites have more political power and contribution than the less educated. Most of the political positions are occupied by the society elites while the illiterates are left to be watchers of the political game plan. In many circumstances, education goes hand in hand with status in the society. The elites are perceived to be of higher status and of better pedigree than the illiterates and therefore are more likely to hold political position than the illiterates in that societal setup.

A case study to show how the level of education influences political class can be illustrated using the presidential elections in America between John Kerry and George W. Bush in 2004. Both the presidential aspirants had accumulated millions of dollars to fund their campaigns, and they had a higher degree the most prestigious universities in the world the Yale and Harvard respectively. In that election, those who voted as members of social class can be said to be participating in an identity political class. Identity politics is a phenomenal that arose during the margins of the liberal democratic society where human rights are highly upheld and regarded in the status. Some individuals tend to perceive class as political maturity in a society. Their argument is that they should vote class of individual into political seats. The win for George W. Bush was viewed as tainted towards the electoral college which has the final say on who wins the elections. In American, for example, a candidate may win the majority votes which includes the votes for the commoners (illiterates) and the privilege in the society, but may not decide the winner of the presidential election. In this case the electoral colleges that bring on board the well educated in the society are left to decide the president of America through their votes. This shows how education and wealth influence the political scene of every nation.

Some of these social classes are intentional while others are natural. There are some people who strive to be identified by a given social class in the society while others find themselves in those classes without their knowledge or control. For example, there are those in the lower class because they cannot afford the better life, therefore, alienating them from the upper class in society. The people with lower level of education in society are always feels alienated from making political contribution in the country. Some of the illiterates’ individuals more often the fourths are being exploited by the politicians without their knowledge or out of mere ignorance and poverty in the society. Majority of the less educated in the society in many instances have been following the political elites blindly and always feel aggrieved when the elites cannot meet their expectation.

However, it should be noted that the elites always have higher regards for education and them say that there is a thin line between education and wealth that consequently leads to political power and empowerment of the society. Since politicians’ deals with matters of legislation and implementations of the laws, the elites stand a better chance in defining the socioeconomic lifestyle in the society. If every member of the society could determine how the life of education influence the political class in the society then every member would be striving for better education so that they can contribute effectively to the political matters in their respective countries. Education enhances moral judgments in decision making by politicians and hence, enable the lawmakers to come up with sound policies which can be implemented to improve the living standards of the whole society at large. Countries with good education background for her citizens always tend to have good political policies and maturation and this reduces societal imbalances which are more witness in the developing countries.

Research Methodology

Study Design

For this particular study, a prospective Cohort study would show to the most beneficial in order to study the influence of education on ones’ political class. This is a significant approach that will provide a comprehensive analysis into the statistically significant difference in the political class and stratification and the relationship to their education standards. This study design the assessment will start with the acknowledged cause of the final case, which is a political class, and significant observations are expected to be made with regard to the occurrence of political class relative to the hypothesized level of education and academic achievements. Continual contact with individuals would help facilitate more detailed and accurate information pertaining to the social classification.

Population of the StudyThis study will target different social and political classes that exist in the society. The desired population of the research will particularly include top political class and people of different stratifications. Education wise, the study population will include those persons of different education standards and achievements from high school to university graduates. The target group will be American politicians.

Sampling Technique

This proposed study will employ purposive sampling technique where samples will be drawn from the desired population of the study in order to provide the researcher with the relevant information concerning political classification and the educational levels in the U.S. This method is preferred because it not biased and gives equal probability to all the respondents to be included in the sample. Sample SizeUsing the statistical concept of n>0.3N, the study proposes to include a sample of 10 politicians drawn from the top social class. These respondents from these selected academic and political institutions will be randomly selected, making a total of 100 participants drawn from the learning institutions and political class.

Data Collection Methods

This study will rely on both primary and secondary data. Secondary data that entail already made available information pertaining to the subject of the study will be collected from secondary journals, books, company websites, internet, newspapers, among other secondary data sources that are perceived reliable and credible. Primary data, on the other hand, will be collected through questionnaires and interview schedules. This method of data collection is preferred over the rest since it aids in the provision of primary data that are more effective and reliable for the study.

Data Analysis

Since this study is qualitative and quantitative, inferential and descriptive statistics will be used to analyze the collective data. Qualitative data collected in the study will specifically be analyzed using grounded theory methods. Open coding will be used to categorize and name the data, while selective coding will be used to develop a more generalized framework to the study (Schneider, & Northcraft, 1999, 1442). Quantitative data, on the other hand, will be analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) version 21 (Pitts, et al. 2010, 118). The relationship will be presented using regression, correlation, and measures of central tendency. Besides, the data collected through questionnaires will be classified on the basis of common attributes and then tallied to obtain statistical frequencies. The data will be presented using tables, graphs, and chats. The research hypotheses will be tested using a regression model between the dependent and independent variable and also using t-statistics to determine the acceptance or rejection rule.

Limitation of the Study

This research is a descriptive study of how differences in the level of education influence differences in the political classes and stratifications in the society. The major limitation of the study is resources and time. In this study, only a limited number of respondents will be included in the study given the high costs of carrying out comprehensive study. The other limitation of this research is insufficient time to comprehensively explore the relationship between the level of education and political identity.

Analysis of the Relationship between Chris and his father

The relationship between a father and a son is supposed to be one of a kind. A father is supposed to guide his son on the facts of life and how to survive. This however is not the case when it comes to the relationship between Chris and his father. Both characters have strong personalities which on several occasions do not see eye to eye. The author makes this one of his themes due to the looming rate of broken relationships between families (Krakauer, p. 214).

The focus of this paper is to provide an analysis of Jon Krakauer’s “Into the wild”. The paper looks at the general themes of the novel which are reflection of the author’s life. The paper seeks to explain the relationship between fathers and the sons. The relationship between Chris and his father is unique in that it portrays qualities of a love hate relationship. The paper looks at both characters so as to determine the reason for their treatment towards each other. The paper also showcases the relationship between Chris and the strangers he meets by analyzing the role Westerberg and Ronald Franz play? The paper finally provides a concluding paragraph that summarizes its contents.

“McCandless was thrilled to be on his way north, and he was relieved as well—relieved that he had again evaded the impending threat of human intimacy, of friendship, and all the messy emotional baggage that comes with it”

One of the factors that act as a bridge between father and son is the lifestyle of Chris’s father. The senior Mr. Mc Candles has managed to invest in a reputation that is not appealing in the eyes of the society. He is well off and represents the members of the high society in the community. The lifestyle of the social elite is desirable to many who do not fit into this category. This makes them the target of social climbers who are more than willing to forgo their dignity to get what they want. Chris’s father uses his economic influence to engage in extra marital relationships. This is not a secret in that the entire society is aware of his bigamist nature. This is also one of the reasons for the divorce from Chris’s mother. Chris on the other hand poses different qualities. He is a stand up member of the society who chooses to distance himself from the social ills of the community. He is against his father’s conduct towards his mother and their marriage. This creates a rift between the two in that Chris blames his father for the distress his mother experiences as a result of the divorce (Spurr and Cameron, p. 117).

As stated earlier, Chris is brought into a world of extreme wealth. All his resources are readily available and making his life easier than the average member of the society. Chris’s father has a different perspective concerning the wealth that his family holds. He uses his influence to elevate his status in the society. He places emphasis on success as opposed to the success of his family. One would expect him to embrace this kind of lifestyle by venturing into his father’s business. He chooses to defy the odds by taking a two year trip in protest of his father’s actions. He takes a drastic step by giving away his college fund so that he explores different options from the life that he is accustomed. This further puts pressure on their relationship because Chris uses his hurt to push his father away. Chris’s father is inclined to be disappointed in hid son due to his lack of regard for all things superior. Both characters thus do not have a typical father son relationship (Penn and Krakauer, p. 152).

One of the things that the two have in common is the love for mountain climbing. Both father and son are keen on the sport making it a key aspect in their life. This acts as one of the factors that bring them together as father and son. It is ironic that Chris uses mountain climbing as an avenue to rebel against his father. Chris is introduced to mountain climbing at an early stage. Venturing into the wilderness is thus one of the ways both characters let go of their frustrations. As Chris takes off into the wilderness, he shuns his family so that he can identify with other people. His father does not understand why he has an easy time relating to different people yet he cannot form a relationship between his family members (Krakauer, p. 204).

“Seven weeks after the body of his son turned up in Alaska wrapped in a blue sleeping bag that Billie had sewn for Chris from a kit, Walt studies a sailboat scudding beneath the window of his waterfront townhouse. ‘How is it,’ he wonders aloud as he gazes blankly across Chesapeake Bay, ‘that a kid with so much compassion could cause his parents so much pain?’”

The relationship between the two is reflective of the present relationships in the society. Families do not take the time to discuss their issues. This is influenced by the need to prove a point which as a result hurts the entire family. Chris portrays the behavior of children who are affected by divorce. Such children act on impulse so that they can get the attention of their parents. Just like his father, Chris is very opinionated and stubborn. He does not take the time to view the logic in some of the situations. This is seen in his irrational attempt to venture into another world. Chris takes a journey into the wild; this is not an ideal place to take refuge. He places his life in danger because he is not under the guidance of his father. His father is quite knowledgeable in all aspects of this environment. This decision becomes the cause of his demise in that he dies at an early age. He thus has no chance of restoring the strained relationship he has with his father. This situation would have been avoided if both would have taken the time to express their feelings (Penn and Krakauer, p. 134).

“He had fled the claustrophobic confines of his family. He’d successfully kept Jan Burres and Wayne Westerberg at arm’s length, flitting out of their lives before anything was expected of him. And now he’d slipped painlessly out of Ron Franz’s life as well.”

During his journey, Chris encounters other people who are the same age as his father. Some of the pivotal characters are Westerberg and Ronald Franz. Both characters influence Chris positively by acting as father figures. They are not as fortunate as Chris’s father; they still manage to get through to Chris by showing qualities of nobility and friendship which his father does not display. Despite Chris’s ability to form meaningful relationships with strangers on the road, he manages to create some sort of distance between anyone he encounters. This shows that he is not willing to set himself up for disappointment. Chris displays a sensitive side to the people he meets. He chooses to live the life of a homeless person for a period of two years. He donates all that he has to people in less fortunate situations making him a compassionate person. It is possible that Chris ventures into the wild to punish his father. He blames him for the unfulfilled life he feels. His kindness towards the strangers he meets is evident that he reciprocates the actions that people present to him. It is however not clear why he chooses to distance himself from his sister with whom he shared close relationship. This displays the amount of damage that he experiences during his childhood (Sharp, p. 125).

In conclusion, the relationship between Chris and his father is one of a sad nature. It begins with sadness and as a result ends with sadness. The fact that Chris loses his life at an early age is evident that the feud was irrelevant. It is difficult to derive who is responsible for the occurrences that prevail. On most occasions the father will take the blame in that he should act as a source of guidance for his son. Into the wild is themed on the significance of family, through the relationship of the two characters, the author explains the effectiveness of communication and the need to create understanding. The book thus acts as an educational tool in that it guides society on the significance of family.
