Graphing Position Velocity and Acceleration

Graphing Position Velocity and Acceleration

Graphing Position, Velocity, and Acceleration

For this Critical Thinking Assignment, you will be using GeoGebra to sketch graphs and solve real-world examples.

Begin by reading the following scenario:

After a diver jumps off a diving board, the edge of the board oscillates with position given by s(t) = −5cos(t) cm at t seconds after the jump.

Part I: Complete the following steps:

  1. Using the GeoGebra tool (https://www.geogebra.org/graphing?lang=en), sketch one period of the position function for ≥ 0.
  2. Find the velocity function.
  3. Using the GeoGebra tool (https://www.geogebra.org/graphing?lang=en), sketch one period of the velocity function for ≥ 0.
  4. Determine the times in the first period (or a single period) when the velocity is 0.
  5. Find the acceleration function.
  6. Using the GeoGebra tool (https://www.geogebra.org/graphing?lang=en), sketch one period of the acceleration function for ≥ 0.
  7. Save your GeoGebra work as a .pdf file for submission.

Part II: Based on your work in Part I, discuss the following:

  1. Discuss any observations you can make about the relationships between the graphs of the position, velocity, and acceleration functions. In particular, make sure to include the following:
    1. The connections between critical points on each graph.
    2. The similarities and differences among the characteristics of the three graphs (i.e. amplitude, midline, and period).
    3. How fast is the edge of the board moving after 2 seconds?
    4. Based on your graph, over what intervals is the edge of the diving board moving upward?
  2. Discuss how your answers to Part I would be affected if:
    1. The sign of the coefficient of cos(t) were opposite.
    2. The coefficient of cos(t) were double.
  3. Provide at least two other real-world situations that serve as applications to this concept and respond to the following:
    1. What common characteristics do the real-world scenarios you chose share?
    2. What did you look for in the way that the real-world scenario can be modeled?

Requirements:

You must submit two files for this assignment.

  1. The first file should contain the computations, graphs, diagrams, etc., associated with the questions in Part I. This file may be formatted as a numbered list of answers. Unless stated in the problem, a narrative discussion is not required, but you must provide enough information to show how you arrived at the answer.
  2. The second file should be a narrative paper, written in APA format, associated with the situation described in Part II. Specific requirements for the paper are provided below:
    1. Your paper should be 2–3 pages in length (not counting the required title page and references page).
    2.  Cite and integrate at least two credible outside sources.
    3. Include a title page, introduction, body, conclusion, and a reference page.
      1. The introduction should describe or summarize the topic or problem. It might discuss the general applications of the topic or it might introduce the unique terminology associated with the topic.
      2. The body of your paper should address the questions posed in the problem. Explain how you approached and answered the question or solved the problem, and, for each question, show all steps involved. Be sure this is in paragraph format, not numbered answers like a homework assignment.
      3. The conclusion should summarize your thoughts about what you have determined from your analysis in completing the assignment. Nothing new should be introduced in the conclusion that was not previously discussed in the body paragraphs.
    4. Include any tables of data or calculations, calculated values, and/or graphs referenced in the paper. (Note: The minimum required paper length excludes any tables, graphs, etc.)

Service quality management method

Service quality management method

The organization would like you to recommend a comprehensive service quality strategy for the company, therefore your report should include the following:
• Justify the importance of managing service quality in your chosen industry sector.
• Introduce appropriate service quality management method(s) to the organisation.
• Assess the impacts of leadership and service culture on front-line employees, their engagement and managerial implications.
• Design a customer feedback system (CFS) framework that the organization can use to monitor and continually improve service quality.

Your answer should be justified and illustrated by specific examples of best-practice organizational operations.

You will be given credit for your ability to draw on a range of sources; these may be academic, or industry-specific. Credit will also be given for a clearly structured answer that responds equally to each of the points laid out above, for the use of relevant examples, for demonstrating analytical powers, and for original or imaginative thinking.

Demonstrate in the report an ability to explore a theoretical argument that has clear implications for service businesses. The response should critically appraise the main theories and principles associated with the management of quality and service quality management. It needs to build upon wider reading and other managerial issues and will benefit from clear examples from the area of hospitality, tourism or events.

Make a reasoned argument in an academically well written report that leads the reader through argument and debate to a clear conclusion. The argument will therefore embrace the service concept whilst identifying a range of theoretical quality models.

Capstone Presentation

Create a 10-20 slide presentation with recorded audio that demonstrates how you would present and deliver your capstone project to your intended audience. Your presentation should be persuasive, use visual and graphical elements, and demonstrate professional speaking and presentation techniques.

Often in a business environment you will be asked to give a presentation of your knowledge, research, or plan to a group of stakeholders. In this assessment, you will present your capstone project. Imagine that your audience is a leader in the organization or industry that you chose, that they have not read your paper, and that you need to present the highlights to them in less than 10 minutes. This presentation should contain all of the main elements found in your paper and incorporate appropriate charts or graphics, as well as cite academic and business resources appropriately.

Assessment Description

Prepare and record a short presentation of your capstone project. Ensure that your presentation meets these expectations:

  • Create a persuasive presentation using techniques to make a compelling business case and recommendations.
    • Write in a style that is appropriate for presenting in a professional setting and appropriate for your intended audience.
    • Add your commentary in the speaker’s notes area for each slide. This provides additional context to your slides, and it will be very efficient to have the speaker’s notes ready when you record the audio.
    • Use design techniques that enhance your message and information.
  • Apply visual and graphic elements effectively to support the business case and recommendations.
    • Your presentation should include charts, graphs, or any illustrative evidence that supports the business case you made in the written part of your project.
    • If you use existing charts or graphs, remember to credit the source using proper APA format for citations and references; for instance, figures should have in-text citations after their titles.
  • Apply professional speaking and presentation techniques for telling the business story that connects with the audience.
    • Your presentation must include slides with a recorded audio of you delivering your presentation to your intended audience.
    • Use best practices of professional speaking and presenting to achieve a strong presentation.

Submission Requirements

  • Communication: Communicate in a manner that is scholarly, professional, respectful, and consistent with expectations for professional practice. Original work and critical thinking are required. Your presentation must be free of errors that detract from the overall message.
  • Media presentation: Your presentation of your capstone paper should have presentation slides with audio recording of how you would present to your intended audience. Your presentation should be minimum of 10 slides and maximum of 20 slides, and should not exceed 8 minutes. Add speaker’s notes or a transcript to ensure accessibility for everyone.
  • Resources: Include citations at the end of the presentation. Remember to cite your sources for graphics and visuals used.
  • APA guidelines: Resources and citations are formatted according to current APA style and format.
  • Font and font size: Use an appropriate size and weight for a presentation, generally 24–28 points for headings and no smaller than 18 points for bulleted text. For PowerPoint tips, refer to the PowerPoint Presentations Library Guide.

Uploading Process

You may upload your presentation in any of the following ways:

  • Using Kaltura Media. (Refer to the MBA Program Resources for a Kaltura tutorial.)
  • As a file in ePortfolio; share the link with faculty.
  • A PowerPoint file with your recorded audio presentation. For this option, give yourself extra time to upload the PowerPoint, since large files may take more time to complete the uploading process.
  • The link to your presentation that you uploaded to your YouTube channel.

Whichever option you choose, be sure to indicate what it is in the submission box faculty know what type of file or link they are looking for.

Note: It is up to you to ensure that faculty can access your presentation. Dead links or failed technology may result in your receiving no credit for this assessment; thus, it is recommended that you test your link and recording on a computer that is not logged into the Capella system to ensure that it works properly before submission. You should allow sufficient time to test and troubleshoot issues.
