Each student is required to submit a final project assignment in the form of a Project White Paper Brief
(written assignment). Students must submit their briefs via the Assignment link in Canvas. Select one of
the following project management special topic areas and write a white paper on how you plan to improve
on the results of your next project; provide appropriate references to support your planned improvement
• Managing team and partnership negotiations
• Planning and managing risk
• Understanding and dealing with ethics and cultural differences
• Incorporating EVM tools and techniques into overall project management
• Managing virtual project teams

Project White Paper Brief Mechanics. For this brief, students should have a Cover Page and then a white
paper of 5-7 pages with references; double-spaced brief (1” margins all around); this does not include
attachments and appendices you may have. References and paper formatting should use APA or MLA
formats. The assessment rubric that will be used for this white paper is shown below.

Objectives

    • Identify your search strategies
    • What level of evidence were you able to find?
    • Write a literature review of at least 5 articles to address your problem.

  • Write a paper that addresses the questions above.

PROJECT QUESTION

Complete an A3 size academic poster on a category of abuse from the Care Act 2014 or from the emerging forms of abuse covered in the lectures.

The poster should be aimed at helping health and social care professionals to understand the type of abuse, its impact upon people who use services and what can be done to prevent it.

TASK 1

Define hate crime and analyse its prevalence in the UK, with a particular focus on disabled people.

TASK 2

Analyse the literature on the impact of this type of abuse on disabled people in the UK.

TASK 3

Analyse the evidence base on the best ways to intervene and prevent this type of abuse of disabled people in the UK.

Draw together the conclusions of your findings.

 From this evidence, relevant legislation and guidance produce three to four clear recommendations for health and social care professionals in the UK.

Quality

Ensure the poster is clearly presented, visually striking and referenced in the Harvard system.

Task 2

  • Demonstrate exploration and analysis of the impact of this type of abuse, on the specified group, focusing on the UK.
  • Consider the impact of abuse from the biopsychosocial perspective.

 TASK 3

  • Demonstrate an exploration and analyse of the evidence-based literature, legislation and guidance on the best ways to intervene and prevent this type of abuse.
  • Consider Making Safeguarding Personal approach, legislation and the statutory guidance.
  • Draw together the conclusions of your findings
  • Produce three to four clear recommendations that could be implemented by health and social care professionals in the UK.

Quality

Ensure the poster is clearly presented, with a font size of a minimum of font 12 for the text and references, which should be in the Harvard style.

 The poster should be visually striking, containing a mixture of text, graphs and other images. Any images should be cited and if from other sources should not cover more than 15% of the poster in total. It should not include any graphic portrayals of abuse.

The poster should aim to provide a clear, concise and coherent presentation of the information required for these tasks.
