Discuss three kinds of media effects – Is there any bias on issues the media chooses to support?
The content and character of news programming can have far-reaching political consequences. Using the text and module resources, discuss three kinds of media effects and give a detailed example of each. Is there any bias in the kinds of issues media choose to report? Read the article from Gallup included in this module. Could these effects on the politics of the day affect people’s attitudes toward the media? Explain.
There are four components to this question. Include course resources following the “Discussion Board Helps” format for in-text citations.
Minimum 250 words for initial response. Points will be deducted if the minimum word count is not met. Make sure to give a detailed response.
Please respond to one other student’s post with 50 word minimum per response. Points will be deducted if this requirement is not met. Thanks.
Remember this prompt must be completed by the deadline. No make-ups.
Barring any content, spelling, or grammatical errors, students are eligible for a 100 if all discussion requirements are met. If students fail to comment on a classmate’s post, the highest grade for which the student is eligible is 79/C, as long as the response addressed the question in full. If the student completes the original post and comments on a classmate’s post but does not meet the required length, then the student is eligible for a B (89-80). Students that only respond to the initial question in fewer than 250 words without commenting on a classmate’s post are eligible for partial credit- D (69-60). Responding to the original prompt in a few sentences, without responding to a classmate’s post will result in a grade of F (59 or below). Follow directions, think critically, and do your best to write a thoughtful, in-depth discussion. If these are evident, then students will be awarded full credit.
International Financial Fraud – Research Paper
International Financial Fraud – Research Paper
Prepare a presentation on your draft essay, to be presented in class (dates to be by sign up/assigned by the Professor). The presentation should be accompanied by a brief visual presentation you will share with peers.
The purpose of the presentation is to share the progress on your assignment (a draft of the essay should be
completed but you are presenting highlights). Visual Presentations may be in a format of the student’s
choosing and should be no longer than 10 minutes in length.
You should present:
(1) your research question/thesis (as evolved since the outline);
(2) a general description of what you anticipate being able to say about your topics in your essays; and
(3) a quick survey of questions/challenges/observations about the research process.
This is intended to provide an opportunity for the class to showcase research in progress, but should still
demonstrate significant progress beyond your essay outline
The mark for the presentation will be based on: (1) evidence of progress on our research question/thesis
beyond what was presented in the essay outline; (2) presentation of relevant and developing content
regarding your selected trade law topic and thoughtful observations/questions about the research process or
outstanding; and (3) content quality of the presentation. On the first point, I am looking for you to
demonstrate that you are advancing the project. Regarding the second point, the presentation should include at least preliminary answers/arguments related to your research question/thesis. In other words, you should
show that you have moved beyond the outline content that focused on “I will be looking at…” to more
advanced research output (e.g. “what my research shows so far is…” along with general commentary and
observations such as “I am finding it difficult to locate data on this point..” or “I was surprised to see…”). is
due prior to class on the day of your presentation.
Evidence-Based Writing – Compare and Contrast to Primary sources
Evidence-Based Writing – Compare and Contrast to Primary sources
This assignment will focus on developing the skill of “evidence-based writing.” You will compare and contrast two primary sources
related to the course. The first source you can select from the course readings assigned between the renaissance and the first
industrial revolution. The second (from the same period) you can choose from a list of provided sources.
Instructions
In this assignment, you will compare and contrast the sources of your two authors and their primary sources. This assignment is
NOT a research paper based on secondary sources, but a careful reading of primary sources. You must reference the textbook and
the lectures to establish the context, but do not quote outside secondary sources. Your evidence must come from primary sources.
All primary source readings are on the course Blackboard. Your paper should attempt to explain the main point of the text and
incorporate the course themes in the essay. Look for texts that have contradictory positions on a given subject. In the case where a
text is short, you will want to have more than one reading to support an idea on one side of the argument and one or more on the
other. On the other hand, many texts are over 10 pages and represent an idea well; thus, using only two contrasting sources fulfills
the assignment. Every paper MUST have at least TWO authors & their texts.
Formatting and Requirements:
“Evidence-based writing”: Each paper should be 3 pages in length (1000-words). Formatting should include one-inch margins, a
standard 12-point font, and double spacing. Each response must quote several times (minimum three per source) from each
primary source as evidence, using footnotes (Chicago Manual of Style, CMS). Always clearly state your claim/ idea first, and then
quote from the source, then interpret the evidence considering your claim & idea in the paragraph.
