School Counseling ASCA National Model

The “Define” component of the ASCA National Model consists of three sets of standards to support school counselors in developing, implementing and assessing a school counseling program.

Allocate at least 1.25 hours in the field to support this field experience. These hours are not included in your practicum and internship logged hours. Instead, you will document these hours in a separate assignment located in Topic 8.

ASCA School Counselor Professional Standards & Competencies Assessment
Complete this as a self-assessment to provide a baseline for your ongoing development as a school counselor in training.

Spend any remaining field experience hours sharing your results and collaborating with your clinical site supervisor.

After completing the self-assessment, write a 250-500-word reflection considering areas of strength and areas for further development in each of the following:

Mindsets
Professional Foundation
Direct/Indirect Student Services
Planning and Assessment
Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.
