Activity Guidelines
1. Select a scholarly resource on an aspect of professional image that is of interest to you.
o To get you started, brainstorm topics such as: workplace dress, dining etiquette at work events, appropriate social conversation with people you work with, email etiquette…or something else along these lines. Pick the one you are most interested in learning about.
o If you need help in choosing a topic, see your instructor.
2. Review your chosen article, summarize at least two key learnings, and discuss at least two ways you can apply your learning to your own professional development.
3. The topics of networking and negotiating are critical for women leaders, as you may have gathered. Select one of these two topics to dive into via a research method of your choice.
o For instance, you can interview a women leader about her best networking wisdom, or you can further research how to successfully negotiate via a book or a journal article online.
4. Complete your research, summarize at least two key learnings, and discuss at least two ways you can apply your learning to your own professional development with regard to enhancing your networking skills/comfort or increasing your negotiating expertise.
5. Compose a two-to-three page, double-spaced essay with bibliography with the above contents.
