The purpose of this discussion is to reflect on the principles and concepts presented in the course text Leading
Change by Kotter. For this discussion, select a concept of interest from Kotter chapters 3-10, “The Eight Stage
Process” (e.g. communicating vision, empowering employees, or the concept of short-term wins). Write a
thread that integrates personal experience regarding the concept with current developments and best practices
from the industry.
Anyy sources cited must have been published within the last three years. Acceptable sources include scholarly
citations from peer-reviewed journals, any of the course texts, and the Bible.

1. Background and Introduction: Identifies specific area of concern and rationale for selecting the issue.
Explains why the issue requires nursing leadership. Clarifies the purpose of the paper (last sentence stating
“the purpose of this paper is..”
2. Explanation of the issue: review of the problem, what has been done to address it, and opportunities in the
healthcare system for addressing the issue
3. Role of Nurse Leaders: Considers role of 2 or more roles nurse leaders can assume in addressing the issue,
identifies qualities needed by leaders to address the issue, addresses, different approaches and styles that
could be used by nurse leaders in the selected area
4. Conclusion: Provides an analysis of available evidence and its quality, insightful description of what the issue
means for the nursing profession now and in the future, opportunities for addressing this issue in the future
through practice, education and/or research

Overview of the general problem you will establish related to the topic, including the following:
A brief description of the grade, subject, and demographics of the class.
An overview of how student groups will be assigned and monitored.
A description of the project that will need to be developed by the group and presented to the class.
Common characteristics of problem-based learning, addressing an open-ended problem posed to each
learning group (see guidance).
An explanation of how the creativity and innovation with 21st-century skills are learned and/or specifically
applied within the project.
An explanation of how culturally relevant strategies are included/applied within the project.
