My first time with Malaria

My first time with Malaria

In many cases, bad condition in one’s health cannot be anticipated. Once it has occurred, the patient tries to understand the cause of the condition. If the symptoms seem to be beyond the patient’s control, the patient heads to a health professional that is expected to make the condition better. Due to congestions in hospitals and past experience, getting a good and encouraging service from some doctors is a surprise, like the one I got.

It was on Monday morning when I woke up as usual ready to attend my lectures. I stood up and felt some kind of tiredness in the whole of my body. I just thought it was the famous Monday blues. I just recalled the football game that we played on Sunday with my friends and related my feeling with it. I took it simple and expected that it would end after a while. I took a hot-water shower. I struggled to do my activities that morning. I could tell that that day I was going to be late for the lecture. I also did not enjoy my breakfast as I had always been.

The breakfast brought all the difference. I felt something that I had never felt there before. My body was jam-packed with fatigue; I had a severe headache and nausea. I had to change my mind and forget about the lecture. I explained to my parents about it and they immediately organized a taxi to take me to the hospital. We reached the hospital and on setting his eyes on me, the doctor ordered for immediate treatment. He took me to his consultation room and asked me about how I feel. As I was explaining to him, I felt like I could jump and take one of the medicines I could see a round.

He listened to me attentively and asked me whether there was any detail that I could have forgotten, but there wasn’t. The doctor then explained to me what such symptoms implied. He approved some medical examination to be done to me. He told me that according to what I told him, I had symptoms of malaria. So I was tested for malaria, and the results indicated that I had malaria. Without wasting time, I was given prescriptions, and I was on my way back home. The doctor said that I should get back after three days so that he could examine my progress. I really enjoyed the service.

This incident was very critical to me because I had not experienced such a feeling in my life. I just thought that I was going to spend some nights in the hospital. All through the feeling I was thinking about the cause of such a feeling. I thought it was just fatigue due to the previous day’s football game. I could also think about a snack I took from one of the shops around where I live. I thought of so many causes including taking contaminated water, but none was true. This was because it was my first experience with malaria. Despite my poor condition, I was very impressed by the actions of the doctor who took the matter very seriously and served me. Even though it looked like it was a very simple task to me, he taught me a lot of lessons in the medical field.

From this experience, I realized that a doctor should serve a patient with a kind heart like the doctor did to me. In the future, I found that the patient needs to be given enough time to explain what they feel. By doing this, I, as a doctor, will be in a position understand the actual problem with the patient. Again as a health professional, I learnt that the doctor should not assume the ailment and conclude that it is a particular one without testing it. Being friendly to the patient helps the patient to feel at ease. Good service will forever be remembered, and inspire the upcoming professionals.

My First Home Away From My Parents

Self-independence and living away from my parents was the challenging thing to adopt even though a crucial experience in the growth progression. It comes with an extra cost of sacrifice and becoming responsible for one’s dignity, well-being and having self-control. As one moves on to the tertiary level education and to the stage of getting a job opportunity it is inevitable to become self-dependent as the parents consider one as a grownup. It means that at that point one is capable of differentiating between the things with positive and negative impact on life. The same applied to me as I joined the college live in Tallahassee which is away from the parents’ home. In this essay, the experience gained regarding how to live on my own, how to budget money and how to find different sources of incomes is discussed in to an in-depth extent.

Moving into a house in Tallahassee which was the first home away from the parents’ residence has taught me on the ways to live on my own and had independence. Living in Tallahassee city has been one of the great lessons to learn in consideration of self-dependency. Initially, I could see it as a threat wondering where to begin regarding all the responsibilities such as meals, dressing, entertainment and paying the rent and other dues. The most disturbing thing was the kind of friends to absorb in my life apart from the relatives and neighbors back there in my parents’ home. Eventually, with time I realized that all is possible and having independence is the best thing that everyone could desire to have in life. Preparing my meals and paying bills which were traumatizing there before becoming a curriculum and it became enjoyable living on my own. The parents and other supervisors are not at all the time on my back to tell me what to do or assisting me to make a different decision (Bhattacharya, et.al page 12). It is has played a significant role in the life as it has enabled me to become visionary and realize that it is my life and it all depends on how I want to live. It comes to my realization that the efforts today will determine how I will stay tomorrow and also the future.

Not only did moving in a new home teach me how to be independent and living on my own, but also how to budget my money. Since the beginning of having self-reliance on the kind of life to live and how to manage the finances, I learned the techniques of budgeting the money. Initially, when I was staying with the parents, there was nothing to worry about the ways of spending money as after all they would cater for the meals and my well-being is not the case now. After moving to the new house, I have learned how to manage my resource and most vital how to avoid spending money sparingly. In Tallahassee, it is somehow expensive as the living standards are high as in any other city. Therefore, it urges a good plan on how to manage one’s capital to enhance good living and avoiding inconveniences regarding providence of the necessities. It is right that the parents may at sometimes cater for my expenses but with no proper budgeting that will never be enough. Among the gained experience is putting aside unnecessary expenses and purchasing groceries from local suppliers at the Grower’s Market as it is cheaper than depending on the packed goods. With this, I have experienced no financial constraints, and the budgeting strategies run well throughout the month (Durrani et.al page 21).

Furthermore, living on my own teaches me how to find different streams of earning income. Self-reliance has significantly motivated me to be engaged in various productive activities to earn extra capital for the sustainability in Tallahassee. The incentive is generated by the desire to live a different life with high living standards, the need to stop asking every help from parents and relatives and being able to contribute and have shared in various businesses involved in. For instance, I am involved in online marketing which at the end all I earn good capital within a short time. The entrepreneur skills learned through the class work and from real life experiences also plays a significant role in enabling one stay in an innovative way which always comes with pay (Siennick, et.al page 7). Living on my own also helps me to have diversification in the business sector not only depending on the parents and other sponsors as my source of income. With capital, one is capable of living a good life with no distress and also capable of helping others and the needy in the society by participating in charity work.

As illustrated above, living on my own has been a fateful experience regarding the personality, the way of living and interacting with other people in a productive way to the society. Nowadays, I am capable of living on my own, how to manage my finances and on the techniques of finding various streams of earning income. Live in Tallahassee is tremendous and has enabled to take the right direction and positively to impact the individual and society at large.

Choices and Views: A View on Cancelling in James Baldwin’s “Sonny’s Blues”

“Sonny’s Blues” is a story written in 1957 by James Baldwin. “Sonny’s Blues” occurs in Harlem, New York, in the 1950s. Some of the key characters in the story include Sonny, the Narrator’s brother; Isabel, the Narrator’s wife, the Narrator, who is Sonny’s elder brother and the father, who is the father to Sonny and the Narrator. The main character in “Sonny’s Blues” is Sonny, as the story mainly revolves around him. The short story starts with Sonny as a drug addict who cannot change, but as the plot continues, Sonny becomes a sober person, shifting your attitude towards him from negative to positive. “Sonny’s Blues” is a must-read for anyone who enjoys reading about the effects of drugs in the community as they learn more about the effects of drugs from Sonny’s experiences.

The author James Baldwin

The basic plot of “Sonny’s Blues” is about a black algebra teacher who reads about his brother’s arrest in the newspaper due to using and selling heroin. He cannot imagine that what he is reading is accurate. Sonny’s brother starts to reflect on the times he had spent together with Sonny, and the rest of the story builds from this reflection. A first-person narrator narrates the story, and this is Sonny’s brother. The Narrator says, “I told myself that Sonny was wild, but he wasn’t crazy” (Baldwin 1). The Narrator creates the image that Sonny was a restless person, but he was indeed not insane.

Sonny is faced with personal dilemmas as he tries to avoid going back to drug abuse, and he does not come to terms with most characters in the story as they differ views and opinions hence creating conflict. There is a conflict between Sonny and the Narrator regarding Sonny’s desire to become a jazz musician. According to him, jazz musicians are the best as they are incredible. Sonny says that he has always placed jazz musicians in the category of people referred to as ‘good time people’ by his father (Baldwin 12). However, the Narrator disagrees with his opinion as he thinks becoming a jazz musician is a waste of time. The Narrator says to Sonny, “You’ll have to be patient with me. Now. Who’s this Parker character?” to mock one of Sonny’s most excellent jazz musicians, which makes Sonny angry (Baldwin 13). A conflict, therefore, develops between them. Sonny is faced with a dilemma on whether to continue his music career after being released from prison. He has a great chance of becoming successful with his music, but at the same time, making music might influence him to go back to using drugs (Baldwin 20). From the above examples, we see how Sony is faced with conflicts and dilemmas during the story.

The story’s climax is seen later in the story after Sonny has been released from prison and is now living in his brother’s apartment. Sonny and the Narrator engage in a furious argument over Sonny’s drug use. The Narrator does not understand why Sonny has to use drugs, but Sonny tries to explain to him that no one usually wishes to start using drugs. ” But nobody just takes it,” Sonny cried, “that’s what I’m telling you! Everybody tries not to. You’re just hung up on the way some people try-it’s not your way!” (Baldwin 20). The story’s climax is set when the two brothers witness a scene at a revival meeting. The revival was being conducted by sisters who only had bibles. After the revival, we see Sonny and his brother getting along well. Sonny even buys his brother a beer (Baldwin 19). The Narrator says, “I realized, with this mocking look, that there stood between us, forever, beyond the power of time and forgiveness’ the fact that I had held silence-so long when he had needed human speech to help him (Baldwin 20). This statement indicates the story’s epiphany as the Narrator has finally realized that instead of ridiculing Sonny, he should have concentrated more on giving hum human comfort.

From the story, we see that Sonny has dramatically improved in terms of his character and views. At the beginning of the story, he is portrayed as someone who is reluctant and does not listen to advice, but finally, we see him come to terms with his brother. Finally, the title clearly shows that Sonny is a passionate musician as the term “blues” is a type of sad music invented by black Americans in the 1940s. The life lesson readers should learn from this story is that one should not only focus on how he views the perspectives of life but should be ready to listen to other people’s views. The best audience for this story would be people struggling with drug abuse as they learn a lot from Sonny’s mistakes that affect his life after he starts using drugs. The message they should come with from this text is that drug abuse does not pay.
