The aim of this assignment is to allow students to apply their understanding of the key concepts into the creation of a proposal to establish their own community organisation.

Each of the following elements should be incorporated into the proposal:

– The organisation’s name;

– The nature of work it undertakes (purpose);

– A Vision and a Mission Statement;

– A set of organisational goals/objectives;

– An organisational chart that describes key roles in the governance and management of the organisation;

– Core funding and resourcing strategies.

This assignment allows you to be creative in the style and format for the presentation of the proposal. This may include: the provision of a proposal in report or document form, presentation slides, and the inclusion of visual means of presentation into the proposal.

Further guidelines on the preparation of this assessment will be covered in the tutorials.

Resources:

There are no set resources for this assessment. You will be required to provide a Reference List a lists all of the websites and other resources that have been utilised in the creation of the proposal.

Marking Criteria:

This assessment will be graded according to the following criteria:

Application of key concepts:

Demonstrates an understanding of the concepts of community organisation and management and can apply them in practice.

Consistency and coherence:

Demonstrates a logical coherence between the aspects of the proposal.

Creative Expression:

Can express ideas clearly and creatively in the chosen form of presentation, using a consistent style of presentation and referencing.

  • You will be conducting your field research on a safety-related topic.  It can consist of gathering survey responses AND interviewing.  Briefly describe a possible field study topic you may pursue for this assignment, and provide a few examples of survey questions that you might include in your field research.  If possible, make it aviation-related.
  • How interviewing fits into this field study.  Provide a few examples of interview questions you would ask the participants in your study.  Describe some of the challenges you think you would face if you conducted an interview field study.
  • Briefly describe the nature of your field study; the purpose, participants, procedure, etc
  • What issues or problems did you face in conducting your field study?  What would you have done differently now that you are nearing completion?  That is, what lessons learned did you gain from your experience in conducting this study?
  • Summarize the results of your field study…were you surprised by your findings?

Findings of the Field Study should be presented in an easily assimilated format using appropriate statistical procedures, when necessary, and graphic presentation of data results that fully capture the essence of the findings

This template provides a guide for scholarly papers that require APA style and formatting (American Psychological Association, 2019). The recommended font style is Times New Roman, and the font size is 12.  Margins are set at one inch for top, bottom, left, and right.

Always begin your paper with an introductory paragraph or section that includes the purpose of your paper and what will be written in the paper – it may be helpful to write the paper first, then go back and write the introduction.  The introduction should be included in the paper but does not require an introduction heading.  Each content area/section of the paper should have a heading.

To follow the recommended format for your title page and section headings consistent with APA format.  The Title page is a separate page.  Each section should include sufficient detail to meet the task requirements.  All paragraphs should have at least three sentences.  The References page is a separate page at the end of the paper.

When you use sources, include all in-text citations (please refer to Chapter 8 – In-Text Citations chapter of the 7th edition APA manual).

References

References are in alphabetical order, double spaced, and have a hanging indent of 0.5 inches.                   The first line is flush left and subsequent lines are indented 0.5 inches from the left       margin.  (refer to Chapters 9 and 10 of the 7th edition of the APA manual).
