MID-TERM ASSESSMENT: Case Study Analysis
Case Study Analysis: 40% of total course grade
Submission: 23rd August at 23:59
Students must analyse two case studies. These case studies have a list of questions you must answer.
Step 1: Read case study and questions carefully. Highlight the main points of the case and any issues that you
can identify. Read the questions closely and analyse what they are requiring you to do.
Step 2: Identify the issues in the case study an important part of your answer is to analyse the situation and to
identify the issues/actions described in the case which may be problematic. The following questions may help
you to do this:
What actions were taken in the case?
Were these actions the most appropriate and why?
Were there any consequences of the taken actions?
Was anything omitted or not considered?
Were actions/procedures in line with existing codes of practice, policy or theories?
STEP 3: Link theory to practice. Use your knowledge of existing codes of practice, theories and/or other
professional documents and behaviours to decide what was done appropriately and what was not.

The document should be 2,000 words maximum and address the following points listed below.

Case Study 1: Planning effective marketing strategies for a target audience
1. Describe the elements that make up the marketing mix. (10 marks)
2. Explain the term sponsorship. Name a sponsorship deal that you think was effective. Explain
your answer. (10 marks)
3. Analyse the importance of using both above-the-line and below-the-line promotion for an
effective marketing campaign. (15 marks)
4. Evaluate the effectiveness of adidas’ use of social media in its ‘Take the Stage’ campaign. (15
marks)
Case Study 2: Effective strategies for long-term growth
1. Explain the terms ‘vision’ and ‘aims’. Give examples related to NATS and a business of your
choice. (10 marks)
2. What is a SMART objective? Explain one benefit for NATS of setting SMART objectives. (10
marks)
3. Analyse how having clear, long-term strategies supports NATS’ vision for global expansion.
(15 marks)
4. To what extent can having a clear vision, strategies, aims and objectives guarantee a business’
success? Use the case study to support your ideas. (15 marks)

Risk Management Plan

Instructions

As a leader in emergency management, you want to minimize negative consequences of risk by implementing a risk management plan. For this assignment, you will design a new risk management plan for the contemporary issues you identified in Unit 2, as related to the location you identified (city, organization, or agency).

Try to be as realistic as possible in your design, taking into account your city or organization’s location and mission.

Feel free to incorporate components from the location’s present risk management plan (if they have one), if you feel that they are the best choice. If you use an existing risk management plan, indicate the plan as a reference.

Complete the following for this assignment:

Discuss in detail how the issues you identified impact the location.

Explain the order of priorities for management of these issues.

Analyze how you propose the organization will manage the issues.

Propose metrics that will monitor the implementation progress of your risk management plan for these issues.

You are permitted to use free risk management plan templates from the Internet, but be sure to list the location of the URL where the template was located.

The following are sample metrics that could be included:

Completing a vulnerability assessment. (This is something that you would already have a start on since you have identified two issues.) Training employees for an introduction to risk management.

Implementing policies and procedures to support the risk management plan. Other metrics pertinent to your particular location.

Written communication: Your writing should clearly identify where each grading criteria or part of the assignment is addressed.

Your points are required to be logical, substantive, and relevant based on the evidence presented.

The writing must be free of errors that detract from the overall message.

APA formatting: Resources and citations are formatted according to current APA style and formatting.

Part #1 due 3/9 – Project Outline

This week (week 1) you will choose your topic and submit your proposed Problem Statement for your research paper as well as an outline. The Outline will consist of 4-5 pages. The Title Page and Reference Page are not included in the page count. The paper/outline describes your final research project. Each major section within your final project should be covered in this paper. The Project Outline must be in narrative form, and be descriptive enough that explains each element of your project. The use of graphics and charts is highly encouraged. References must come from google scholar – Once I know which topic the write will be doing I can provide the peer reviews.

Part#2 Due 8/16 – Brief Report Brief Report

– APA format Using your outline from week 1 as a guide, submit a minimum of 5 pages of the research you have completed on your topic to date.

You should have an introduction and a beginning of a Literature Review for this assignment. You must include a Cover Page, and list of References (not included in 5 page count).

Part #3 Literature Review Due 8/23 Literature Review

– This week you will expand your part 2 by adding more sources and evaluation of each source to develop a literature review.

1.Collect, organize, analyze, and critique 15 + peer-reviewed research articles that are related to a topic area and problem statement. 2.Write an introduction to your topic and the overall problem you are addressing.

3.Write a literature review.

4.Conclude your literature review with a summary of the gaps in the Literature and how this aligns with your research area of interest.

Your writing should follow the standards established in the course and in-text and end-of-text references should follow APA style manual format.

Part #4 is the Research Paper – Due 9/4 The Final Research Project will be 20-25 pages and due in week 8.

The project must include a title page, table of contents, abstract, and a reference page. The project will demonstrate the knowledge acquired through course work completed to date. The project is an application of this knowledge and requires the student to analyze and interpret the topic of interest. The use of graphics and charts is highly encouraged. This report must be original work. This report cannot include papers submitted in previous courses. Format APA cover page Abstract (1/2- 1 page)

II. Literature Review – background research on this topic

III. The results/ discussions, describes what you have learned that helps answer the research question. What are you ideas about this topic?

IV. The discussion of potential new solutions.

V. The conclusion, which summarizes the key points of the paper and suggests further research needed on this topic.

VI. A list of references in APA format. Topics for the course project include but are not limited to:

1) The convergence of transportation congestion and transportation security at a U.S. seaport.

2) A review of past Transportation legislation while developing a new proposal to address past weaknesses and omissions.

3) The transitioning of the Defense Transportation System toward complementing best practices in supply chain management efficiently and securely.

4) A review of the U.S. economy and its impact on transportation and logistics management.

5) Identify new challenges within transportation and logistics management and develop viable solutions to these challenges.

6) Identify an emerging concept such as reverse logistics, green logistics, etc. and analyze its impact on the future of transportation and logistics management.

7) Other topics will be considered.
