Shopping local beer in California Rather then big names
MLA format with citations page
Not too many citations but at least 4 add personality. Talk about the benefits of shopping local
beer (farm to fork) and why it’s better then big names.
For this essay, determine a controversial issue that is connected to your course theme. A controversial issue is one that has two distinctly different viewpoints with reasonable people on both sides. Dig deep and consider what you or others may find to argue about that relates to your topic. You may even need to identify issues that you, yourself, would not normally consider. Our society loves to argue and can find something to disagree on with nearly everything! In your essay, you will discuss both sides of the controversial issue accurately and fairly, thereby providing your reader with thorough information. You will then take a position on one side and attempt to persuade your reader to agree with your viewpoint. At no point should you resort to insulting or belittling the other side – remember, it is the people on the other side of the debate that you ultimately need to persuade. For this essay you need to use at least four outside sources (at least one of which is about your opposing viewpoint).
Visual Inspection (VT) and Non-Destructive (NDT) Methods
Visual Inspection (VT) and Non-Destructive (NDT) Methods
Online version: Please watch the video
Objective
The objective of this testing is to assess the condition of welds using visual inspection tests. The
objective will be to evaluate the welded samples, identify the defects and evaluate this method of
testing for this application.
Safety Precautions
When in the Lab; coveralls or lab coats, safety glasses, and steel toed shoes are to be worn.
Background Information
Visual Inspection (VT) is one of the most widely used Non-Destructive (NDT) methods.
It is used to identify surface discontinuities.
This technique can be used in combination with other surface inspection methods for flaws that
are not easily identified by the naked eye.
Low power magnifying glasses, boroscopes, fiberscopes and digital video borescopes are
usually used to perform VT.
It can be conducted without the use of special equipment.
Material and equipment used:
1. Magnifying glasses.
2. Welded metal test samples.
3. Ruler
Procedure:
1. Make a sketch of your sample.
2. Under the magnifying glasses place each tested samples and investigate carefully any
kind of cracks, flaws, discontinuity, etc that might be located on the surface of the test samples.
3. Measure the size of the discontinuity.
4. Identify each discontinuity
5. Record your observations and include them in the lab report.
Questions to be answered in the lab report:
• Determine the type of discontinuity.
• Determine what caused the imperfection in the weld.
• Discuss the advantages and disadvantage of this technique.
• Give at least three application for this technique.
Writing the laboratory Report
Your report should be typical of an engineering report, typed and include the following:
• A brief theory of visual inspection.
• Write the test procedures (do not copy the one above but write a procedure according to your
own experiment).
• Determine the type of discontinuity.
• Determine what caused the imperfection in the weld.
• Discuss the advantages and disadvantage of this technique.
• Give at least three applications for this technique.
• Conclusions.
Literature Search, Rapid Critical Appraisal, and Summarization (PICOT Questions)
Literature Search, Rapid Critical Appraisal, and Summarization
For this assignment, you will locate a minimum of 4 research articles related to the topic and PICOT questions that you developed in Week 2. The articles must be current (2002 to the present), and two articles must be quantitative, and two articles must be qualitative. These articles should be somewh related to your PICOT questions. Articles used for one assignment can’t be used for the other assignments(students should find new research articles for each assignment).
The selected articles should be original research articles. Review articles, meta-analysis, metasynthesis, and systemic review should not be used.
Mixed-methods studies should not be used.
There are two parts to this assignment.
Part 1: Complete a Rapid Critical Appraisal Checklist chart for each research article (4 total).Downlo
the following files in the Worksheets, Forms, and Templates area at left:
Rapid Critical Appraisal Checklist (pdf)
Rapid Critical Appraisal Checklist (doc)
Part II: Write a summary (2–3 pages)
Describe the similarities and differences among the four research articles.
You should:
Use current APA format to style your paper and to cite your sources.
Submit the 4 completed charts along with your summary.
