Discuss the significance of statistical application in health care. Include the following:
Describe the application of statistics in health care. Specifically discuss its significance to quality,
safety, health promotion, and leadership.
Consider your organization or specialty area and how you utilize statistical knowledge. Discuss
how you obtain statistical data, how statistical knowledge is used in day-to-day operations and
how you apply it or use it in decision making.

Globalization is dying
Based on which position you choose, read the corresponding articles. I highly recommend you
read all 7 articles regardless of which position you take. Feel free to use any other information
and materials. You are free to take any position mentioned above, as long as you support your
position with reasoned arguments and supporting information. Some questions to consider:

If you choose “Globalization is thriving”
Why globalization is thriving and why you think is a good thing?
What are the pros and advantages of globalization?
If you choose “Globalization is doddering…… but will survive”
Why is globalization doddering and will survive?
What changes can be done to make globalization a beneficial thing?
If you choose “Globalization is dying”
Why is it dying and a bad thing?
Which features or impacts of Globalization are disappearing faster or gasping?

Once you have critically appraised the articles you should summarise what the studies found and you need to discuss how the findings could be used in practice.

Reflect on value of the selected studies and whether they are of use in practice. If not, why? You could look at how the findings could be used for:

• Individual or groups of patients/clients

• For your benefit

• For your department

• For the organisation in general

• For society The choice is yours and you don’t have to cover all of the above points.

The Following aspects could be included but they are not prescriptive:

• The “fit” with other evidence, clinical policy, procedure and guidelines

• How the evidence “fits” with other research • If appropriate, consider how it “fits” with your experience in clinical practice

• Would this evidence change practice?

• How the evidence could be implemented in practice?

• Factors helping or hindering the implementation of the evidence

• How the findings fit with patient preferences

• Ethical issues with using the evidence

This part should continue to demonstrate analysis and arguments should be supported with references.  s
