Career Counseling for All
Career Counseling for All
School counselors must be aware of societal issues related to gender, race, ethnicity, faith diversity, sexual orientation, and disabilities that may influence students’ college and career decision-making process. This awareness can assist school counselors to develop ethical and culturally relevant strategies to promote college readiness and access and to facilitate post-secondary transitions for all students.
Allocate at least 3 hours in the field to support this field experience. Conduct two interviews, one with a member of the special education team and one with your site supervisor to learn more about specific societal issues (gender, race, ethnicity, faith diversity, sexual orientation, and disabilities) in your school setting. When completed, present your brochure to your site supervisor.
Develop a tri-fold brochure to present information for high school students to assist them in learning about the different career options. Your brochure should address the following:
Consider issues or obstacles that students may encounter in the career decision-making process due to gender, race, ethnicity, faith diversity, sexual orientation, or disabilities.
Promote relevant career options to support a diverse student population.
Explain ways school counselors help all students make well-informed college and career decisions.
Provide community resources, organizations, or opportunities available to students to assist with gender, race, ethnicity, faith diversity, sexual orientation, or disability issues in career planning.
The brochure should include engaging graphics that are relevant to the content, visually appealing, and use space appropriately.
To design your brochure, use the templates in Microsoft Office Publisher or any alternative word processing program. If you do not have these programs, you can use the online template resources on the Word Automation website. Omit/delete items on templates that do not pertain to assignment criterion. Keep in mind that only .doc, .docx, .eps, .htm, .pdf, .rtf, .txt, or .wpd files are accepted, with file size not to exceed 10 MB.
This assignment uses a rubric. Review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.
This is the brochure I didn’t know what to choose or exactly how to order this.
