To give you a feel of how a historian looks at primary sources to help interpret historical events, the class will view the 1850 mortality census for Montgomery County, Ohio. The mortality census lists all the people who died in 1849 before the census was enumerated. You have the morality schedules taken in the city of Dayton and six rural townships classified as Dist 111 for 1850.

For this assignment, you will need to count how many people died in 1849 in the city and in Dist 111. Of those who died, how many died of Cholera? Calculate what percentage of the deaths were from Cholera. I know the handwriting is difficult but look for words that begin with Ch. Once you have read the assigned readings and watched the video, you must write and submit a 2-3 page reflection paper.
