THREE REWARDS OF BEING A TEACHERTeaching is one of the professions where a teacher has the ability to convey or pass valuable information to younger generations. It is rather like a calling for those who really have a passion in teaching. It thus enables a teacher to have the joy in seeing children grasp knowledge that a teacher has specifically taught them. This gives a teacher the satisfaction of having done his core duty which is to pass information.
In a teacher’s long profession it enables a teacher come across different personalities in the students he /she teaches. This enables an individual in the teaching profession have an all rounded and flexible character that accepts different cultures and beliefs. It thus opens one’s eyes and makes you have an open mind in your day-to-day undertakings.
A teacher never stops learning new ideas and ways to improve her way of teachings because of the varied experience one gets in his/her teaching life. Students are generally an inquisitive lot and through the questions they pose one can know where students get a challenge in grasping information. Different students have different challenges and this thus makes the teacher eventually develop a style of teaching that makes more students easily grasp the concepts taught
THREE CHALLENGES OF TEACHING
The disadvantage of dealing with different characters in students can push a teacher to the limits as it can get annoying pretty quickly. It requires patience as a teacher tries to work out how to deal with them.
Teachers can sometimes be caught up in the bureaucracy of school committees, pressures of parents wanting exemplary performances as quickly as possible. They are also chasing deadlines on curriculum and this causes a high pressure environment.
Teachers also do not enjoy job security like in other jobs. It requires one to have either extensive work experience or higher qualifications to have a more secure job
I prepared the assignment by researching on the profession and doing daily observations in my life as a student
I therefore learnt that teaching is a profession that requires passion and is fulfilling to those who take it up. It also requires you to be mentally strong and innovative in the best ways you can cater to different children’s needs.
2. LEARNING THEORY AND POTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT
The title is about different learning theories and their applications in explaining the different kinds of approaches used in learning. I carried out specific study and analysis of behavioral theories in learning and came up with excellent and reliable explanation for some kinds of learning but poor and unreliable explanation for other types of learning. For example, operant conditioning is far much better and reliable than other theories when it comes to explaining the learning of mental and physical skills, main acquisition of information, and nurturing of beneficial characteristics that are necessary for classroom environment.
To complete the assignment, I carried out a field study and experiments on the theory that I chose to study and collected data on it from different sources and respondents then analyzed the data before arriving at a conclusion. From the program, I learnt that there are different theories that can be applied in explaining and making progress in the learning program. However, the choice of every theory will depend mainly on the individual giving the teaching and the students being taught. Based on their overall capabilities, one can easily rely on a selected theory to ensure the students acquire the best.
3. TUTORIAL FOR MATHS TEACHERS: LESSON PLAN AND REFLECTION
ARITHMETIC AWARENESS THROUGH HEALTHY EATING SCHEME IN KIDS.Healthy eating routines require strict discipline. One is required to take into account the calories one has taken per day in order to adhere to the set calorie intake by a dietician. This enables a kid to develop discipline and crucial arithmetic skills as they get through their healthy eating routine
I did prepare the assignment by researching in dietetics and consulting a physician.
I learnt valuable lessons in time management and discipline which are crucial and fundamental in my course.
4. INSTRUCTURAL PRACTICE FOR CONTENT TEACHERS
The topic is mainly based on the lesson plan a tutor should have before researching on a lesson he/ she is going to teach. Lesson plans are specifically important in ensuring every scope of information required by the syllabus is covered and nothing is taught outside the set syllabus.
To complete the assignment, I wrote down the topics to be covered which was Biomes, and then all the necessary subtopics associated with it. Allocated the work to be done for the time allocated and shared the activities for the lesson and the questions for the students to attempt during and before the question. From the benchmark assignment, I was able to learn the importance of drafting a lesson plan to ensure everything required by the syllabus under the lesson is covered and also ensure everything gets a fair distribution of the allocated time.
5. EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY FOR TEACHERS:
EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY
It is important to have a teacher to have beliefs and goals in their profession. It enables you to believe in whatever you are doing and makes you have set goals that are achievable and have refined ideas on how to best to cater to students’ needs over a period of time. It also fosters individuality.
This assignment was done by observing and researching on philosophical articles in the library over a period of three days.
I learnt that one needs to be able to adapt to a teacher’s method as most of them always have clear laid down plans on how best to enable students understand their teachings. A teacher’s philosophy can also rub on to the students and enable them use them in their future lives.
6. SCHOLARLY WRITING AND APA FOR TECHERS
The topic is about what tutors think about integrating modern technology in the classrooms. The topic required the information of what teachers think about the whole idea of using information technology to enhance learning at classroom level, its benefits and cons. It gave an excellent overview of what teachers generally think in regard to giving our education system a whole new approach.
To complete the assignment, I carried out an analysis of the different ways in which modern technology, especially information technology would be put into use in our classrooms, the long term effects, short term effects and the disadvantages that are likely to come with the introduction of the new approach. Through this assignment, I was able to know what different students think of the whole idea of using modern technology in our classrooms. This would ensure the future education system gets adopts the new idea to make it better.
7. INSTRUCTIONAL PRACTICES FOR DIFF.INSTRUCTIONS:
DIFFERENTIATED UNIT PLAN FOR STUDENTS.A differentiated unit plan has the aim of enabling students know, understand and be able to do a particular task asked of them. A student knows by having facts that are easily memorable. Understanding involves knowing the core values and facts behind a concept. To be able to do needs the student to have basic expertise of the discipline he/she is involved in. This differentiated unit plan therefore enables a student grasp facts easier in his or her school life.
I learnt this by conducting a field study and researching on the library.
It is related to my course in the way it enables one to do tasks in a systematic way to enable them to improve their thought process.
8. CURRENT TRENDS IN EDUCATION SYSTEM
The assignment was aimed at finding the impacts that seating assignments have on general progress of individual students and the class at large. Seating assignments involve evaluations and class assignments that students are expected to work on and submit during the lesson. To evaluate the benchmark assignment, I collected samples of assignments and evaluation tests done by different students when they are in class and the ones they do while at home. I keenly noted the difference in their performance and the progress each student made with time and established a conclusion.
From the benchmark assignments, I was able to come up with the advantages and disadvantages of administering seating assignments, how they enhance learning, reliance on oneself and genuine work of every student. From my assignments, I was able to establish that seating assignments encourage individual efforts, honest work and commitment in students. This would help me use more of seating assignments than take away assignments during my profession.
