Do you know that forests cover about 30% of the world’s land area, but they are disappearing in a dangerous way? (Derouin, 2019). Between 1990 and 2016 we lost around 502,000 square miles of forest according to world bank and it should be a concern for us since forest are key to climate, water, oxygen, and livelihoods. In fact, the most notable effect of deforestation is climate change; however, the loss of trees and other vegetation can cause desertification, soil erosion, fewer crops, flooding, increased greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, multiples issues for indigenous people, and some wildlife extinction.
