Marketing Approach
Any business keen on growing its market share and increasing its profits should be able to communicate the value of its products to its current and potential customers. In doing this, it needs to settle on its target market, analyze the market segmentation, and comprehend consumer behavior and finally provide high customer value. Even though a firm may offer some of the best products in the market, potential customers may lack knowledge of this if the firm does not market its products. Successful marketing translates to business success. For this reason businesses should endeavor to employ some of the best strategies in marketing their goods and services. There are various approaches that businesses can employ in reaching out to their clients. Simon Sinek, a marketing guru has put forth some of the most fruitful ideas in marketing.
Apple Inc has embraced Simon Sinek’s ideas and reformulated its products making use of his why reasoning concept. Apple computers tend to be more expensive compared to personal computers and contain less software that one can use. Despite this, people still buy them nonetheless. The explanation for this is Simon Sinek’s why concept that Apple uses. Apple’s customers buy into the company’s vision and are willing to pay more as they feel its products reflect their values. Though their products may not be the best, a look at how they apply their ‘why’ helps one understand why people would still be willing to buy their products. For instance they are known to say that their vision is always to challenge the status quo and think in a different way. They add that they do this by designing their products beautifully and making them simple for anyone to use and that they just tend to make great computers. Their finishing statement would be a question directed at their customers on whether or not they would like to make a purchase.
Sinek’s approach in marketing a product has great results going by the success of several firms that have strongly embraced it. Most consumers are more interested in knowing why they should consider a given firm’s products given the wide variety they can choose from. Sinek’s approach to inspire employees and connect with customers is much in line with many other approaches that also encourage coaching of employees to empower them with more skills while helping consumers make sense of a firm’s activities. His approach can apply to ones organization by helping the employees understand why they need to dedicate their energies to the organization’s vision. His approach will also enable an organization relay to the consumers the reason as to why their needs are at the heart of the organization’s endeavors. Helping customers understand why they need to share in a firm’s vision as Sinek suggests can help boost sales (Chung, 2009). However, some of his ideas that imply all marketing success stories result from the same approach is misplaced as there are other firms that have used different means while achieving a great degree of success (Wadham, & Warren, 2013).
Clearly, marketing plays a major part in the business success since it defines between the thin lines of success and failure. Simon Sinek presents some of the best market approaches in achieving great success in business. He helps one understand why Apple Inc continues to enjoy huge profits despite the presence of better products in the market. His insights can apply to my organization and make it achieve tremendous success. Although his approaches to success apply to many successful firms, not all of them peg their success to the approaches he believes are responsible.
