FLASH5G BV, a Dutch multinational company in the telecommunications sector, is considering
expatriating some of its Netherlands-based staff to work at an overseas subsidiary (please

As a Senior Associate, you have been tasked with advising the board of FLASH5G BV on the
issues the firm might encounter in expatriating staff.
In doing so, you need to evaluate the HRM system in the host country, identify potential HR
challenges for both the firm and expatriates, and give advice on how these challenges could be

overcome. Make sure to go beyond mere cultural issues. The board also ask you to briefly
sketch what an ideal candidate, who is willing and able to accept an international assignment in
such a host country on behalf of FLASH5G BV, might look like. Your report should be based on
extensive research and readings of the academic literature.
