INTERNSHIP PURPOSE & GOALS
As explained in the Internship Guidelines, the purpose of internship is to gain valuable
experience working in a professional setting that will allow you to explore or advance your career
aspirations. It is experimental learning. It must be documented properly to award academic credit
and to satisfy university accreditation standards. At the beginning of the internship process you
developed a set of Internship Goals to ensure that you were placed in an appropriate host
agency and that you had significant purpose and direction behind your placement.
FORMAT OF INTERNSHIP FINAL REPORT – There are 4 main sections
1. Provide an introduction in which you state why you chose this type of internship experience
and this specifics host agency and its role within ITHM, and generally what you did (your work,
professional activities, and accomplishments).
2. Company background, including ownership, management structure and information about the
career path of your supervisor.
3. List each of your internship goals one at a time and after each one explain how you did (or did
not) achieve it.
4. Provide a summery of conclusion by stating the overall value of your internship, how it has
affected your career goals and future ITHM, and whether or not you would recommend it to other
students.

Please add any additional thoughts to any of the three sections.

Goals that were submitted:
1. Improve customer satisfaction – plan and organize events to get Spring Creek Community
involved.
2. Plan events that can become annual events.
3. Plan events in a timely manner to give the residents time to plan.
4. Learn to speak easier in front of people.
5. Organize something inviting when promoting tours of the community.
I chose this type of internship to explore the possibilities of someday being a property manager
or event planner. I chose this host agency because I’m familiar with the apartment complex and I
personally know Mrs. Tugmon and knew I would feel comfortable in this setting. She has been
very helpful to me while learning all of the different aspects of the job. The setting of the host
agency and it’s role within ITHM I believe has prepared me to be aware of many different
circumstances that happen on a day to day basis when running an apartment complex.
My work at the internship has consisted of tours of Spring Creek Community, following up with
calls and emails to potential residents, reaching out to local businesses to help with our out reach
marketing program. I visited establishments weekly in our community to leave brochures and
flyers advertising for Spring Creek. I helped take care of any resident issues in the office if I
wasn’t out working with Mrs. Tugmon. I also have helped plan a Valentine Day get together
where the residents could drop into the office and grab refreshments and visit as well as a St.
Patricks Day gathering. These events are for the residents to know we appreciate them and to let
them know were here if they need anything. Emails and flyers are always sent out for the residents to know these events are taking place a couple of weeks in advance.
