Negotiations In regard to the conflict between Joe and Charles
Negotiations
In regard to the conflict between Joe and Charles, the main problem here is who will takeover from Joe when he retires. He has work for about 38 year after successfully working through the ranks to the present senior rank in the organization. It is evident from Joe’s point of view he has no confidence with Charles who was hired recently and thinks that Charles is inexperienced to takeover from him than one of his owns competitive staff in which he trusts so much. In this situation as a senior vice president, I will convene a meeting between the two and initiate mediation for the benefit of the organization that may fall out because of such conflict. Upon calling them first I should make both of the comfortable and ask them to feel and speak freely. After greetings, taking their sitting positions and asking them to identify themselves by name and state briefly the academic and professional qualifications including their past experience. With writing materials to both of them and stating the purpose of that meeting I will confirm my neutrality. I will each person enough time to speak freely and defend his position in regard to the matter in question. Using calming techniques and job seniority advantage I will make sure both have reached consensus.
My take in action is calming the parties to understand that the organization is very important than their individual differences. My position is to clarity to each party where they to have differences. In this intervention my objective is to bring mediation and make both parties understand each for the benefit of the business. I look forward to see the business prospering more than it has been after being handed over peacefully from Joe and maintaining confidence of the staff.
