The Opioid Crisis, be very specific explaining both sides of the controversy in your research, choosing a side, and developing your own opinions as they relate to the professional discussions of the controversy. Examples may be Are the laws around opioid restrictions strong enough to curb overdose deaths. etc.
Research and discuss an event or issue that is happening or being debated now (in 2022) so that you can utilize the most recent sources (multimedia, newspapers, weekly magazines, on-line databases, primary & secondary sources, and traditional print materials). Focus on a specific element, issue, or argumentative stance. An obvious choice would be to discuss and take-a-stand regarding a very specific contemporary controversy, with a limited scope. Remember that it is essential when designing a college-level research project that the student is very, very, very focused in the chosen argument, which must be limited and specific in scope.
FORMAT: The new MLA-8 style to the letter.
SOURCES: Your final draft must include at least EIGHT sources of professional quality in your Works Cited. Use as much variety of research as you can (peer-reviewed academic journals, magazines/newspapers, books, audio/visual, online databases). Eight to twelve sources are preferred. Include Works Cited Page.
ARGUMENTATION: Approach your topic from many directions and phrase a clear thesis that is argumentative (where you not only present research but emphasize your own ideas on the issue). Vigorously support your argument.
PLAGIARISM: (Please Include a file showing the Paper passed a Plagiarism Check. Preferably with something like Grammarly Plagiarism Check). If you fail to demonstrate a basic understanding of documentation requirements so that your sources are not fully cited, your paper will receive a failing grade. Your essay will undergo an electronic Originality Check.
DOCUMENTATION: If the documentation of the final draft of your research paper is not consistent with the MLA style (MLA-8, the 2016 updates, preferred), the paper cannot receive a passing grade.
