A policy can be defined as a way, means or intention to adopt a certain cause of action. This social policy can be defined as a relationship /policy that are adopted by the government that affects people’s quality of life. Politics influences social policies the most as they govern human behavior which defines social policies. A society’s political ideology will dictate the parameters of its social welfare policy and there is a significant difference in dimensions of effects of ideology. Social issues are a major concern to all citizens; ideology affects social policy only when it deals with social issues. A good example is tax which is an economic issue but a social issue such that it affects the welfare of individuals. Political ideology impacts negatively or positively.

Social policy as understood by philosophers focuses on society, economy and policies that affect primary need of humans’ welfare. Ideologies are a collection of ideas such as socialism or Marxism they may account for distinct in political preferences. When social policy aims to improve human welfare ideologies such as political ideologies increase health care and ruin the justice system (Sugiyama, 2007). Social issue affects our everyday lives and we require government ideologies to implement laws that help reduce poverty while bringing a balance in wealth distribution. Governments can specify limits by laying down legal requirement to people’s behavior.

Socialism is a movement that aimed at improving society in Europe it was associated with working class movements and labor relations. Ideologies also affected age, education, income and race. Race related policies were common in the late 80s especially in Eastern Europe and it was instigated by government ideologies S(Sugiyama, 2007). Ideologies matter in social policies for citizens require a way to act on policies in order to be useful in explaining events especially political. To sum it up ideologies affect social policies take for example conservatism has an impact in traditional values in work, family as they cause restraints. Conservatives have never been united in terms of social policies.

Outline

How I was isolated because of where I came from, my intellect and ethnicity.

My foreshadowing sentence is I remember when I decided to move to a new country thus looked for a Visa.

Conflict in the story is when what I expected about my new residence did not turn out to be since I had to experience a lot of problems from the people due to where I came from, social status my intellect and ethnic differences before adapting.

Who is the people I got to interact with in Oklahoma? Also the people who helped me cope up with the environment and learn about it.

What in the story is the treatment that I was subjected to discrimination and other forms of unfair treatment?

When is the time I had spent one week in the country and it was now time to get independent thus I decided to see of my guide. Also when is the time I managed to adapt to the new environment and began making friends.

Where is the place itself that is in Oklahoma.

Why is the reason I was discriminated, speak native English and when they listen to my broken English, they get shocked. The people are so much people educated and substance use is a big deal in the region unlike where I came from.

How is the way I was discriminated, I would ask for help and instead of giving directions I would be laughed at. Also, many did not bother telling me anything because they assumed that I was lost.

The climax is my turning point when I had to tackle my problems and managed to interact with the other people.

It is through adapting to a new environment that makes us comfortable. Also, everyone must experience challenges in a new place which is normal.

Expository Research Paper Directions

Expository Research Paper Directions

Write a 10-page paper (not counting the Works Cited) that informs me about a topic of your choosing.

Short paper penalty (9 pages=90% of rubric grade, 8 pages=80% of rubric grade, 7 pages=50% of rubric grade). Elaborate your ideas as deeply as you can. Do not use pictures, graphs or charts in your paper. These are better known as space wasters to English professors.

The first paragraph is an introductory paragraph that gives a general overview of the things to come in your paper. Make sure you have a well-written and obvious thesis statement.

Your body paragraphs will be logically ordered in such a way that it is easy to follow the idea(s) in your paper.

Your final paragraph will be a conclusion that thoroughly summarizes the main point(s) of your essay.

You must cite any ideas you use from outside sources using an in-line cite and a reference on the works cited page. Failure to cite your sources is plagiarism. All plagiarism, intentional or unintentional, is treated the same and the grade for the paper will be a zero.

You must have a Works Cited page and it must follow the MLA format we covered in class. These pages do not count toward the 10-page requirement for the paper.

You must use a minimum of seven outside sources. 10 outside sources are preferred. Your sources should be well varied between primary and secondary sources.

I do not accept late work. The due date for this paper will be announced several times in class. Do not miss it. Upload your essay to ecampus by 11:59pm on the date it is due. If ecampus is down, email it to tcedor@dcccd.edu. If the entire Internet is failing you, take a picture of each page and text it to (469)688-2340. We will figure out what to do when I wake up.

Your essay must be 60/40. That means at least 60 percent (or more) of your research paper should be your words. 40 percent (or less) of your paper will be from researched material.

Helpful Reminders

MLA Format. Follow it. There is a sample paper linked in Blackboard. Make sure your paper “looks” like that one does.

Visit the Writing Center in the Eastfield Library for additional help.

Consult the rubric as you write the paper. If you use the rubric wisely, your grade should not be a surprise to you.

Do not use the word you (your, you’re, yourself) in formal academic writing. This word can be replaced with the word one, a person, his/her and a few other options. I will take 3 points off your final essay grade for each use of the word you in the paper.

We will not be covering basic grammar (capitalization, usage, punctuation, spelling) in this class. If you need help in those areas, stop by my office or visit the Writing Center in the Eastfield Library. Correct English grammar will factor heavily into your grade (see the rubric).
