The solar panel with leather bag is much better compared with the other solar panels manufactured in other companies. The product will also not be outsourced. An extra battery may be used in charging more devices at a go unlike the regular solar panel and battery. There is also a longer warranty on the product of 5 years contrasting the other regular products whose warranty is 3 years. Generally, the product has unique features, which has greatly contributed to the potential side effects. Revenge effects may include the failure of the battery and the fact that it is depleted faster.

The primary market for the solar panel will be the homeowners while the secondary market would be the businesses. The homeowners would use the solar panel as a source of energy at home while the businesses will use the solar panel to power their machines. Activities taking place at home and business are very different making the energy needs to vary with an intention of meeting the specific needs.

However, the solar system is not made by the equipment that can make it last long and are not connected to the utility grid hence leading to worry about running out of power. The solar panel also does not meet the local building codes. These unintended consequences require separate solutions of their own so that they can be properly used and made even more competitive in the solar energy industry.

Problem 3

Due to the increased pollution and other activities degrading the environment, the product has been manufactured to ensure high level of energy conservation. The solar panel’s intended purpose is enough to qualify it as an environmental friendly product. Solar panel will greatly help in conserving energy as it introduces clean and renewable energy. Use of solar energy would be useful due to the larger environmental concern and the high cost of other sources of energy. If the public decides to adopt the solar panel energy then they will definitely succeed in conserving the environment. The solar panel would take advantage of the pure energy from the sun which combats the greenhouse gas emissions thus reducing global warming. The solar panel would play an important role in minimizing the collective dependence on fossil fuel such as coal and natural gas that emit toxic gases causing pollution.

The panel can collect energy from anywhere without causing damage to the environment. It does not also create waste that may be required to be stored for some time just like nuclear energy that leads to environmental pollution. Solar energy is very quiet and does not cause noise pollution, which may perhaps be required in converting energy to a useful form of energy. The products do not have big impact on the environment unlike other sources of renewable energy such as wind power. It is therefore undeniable that the solar energy are readily available source of energy which is the most significant energy amongst non-conventional source of energy. Our product will therefore be environmental compliance and greatly contributes to the conservation of energy.

Evolution of American Literature during Puritanism and Enlightenment

Introduction

Puritanism is a religious reformist movement that emerged in the late 16the and early 17th centuries, seeking to cleanse the church and get rid of all remaining ties it had with the Roman Catholic Church. Puritans lived by a religious and moral code that impacted their lives and those people around them. The enlightenment period, also known as the age of reason, emerged in the eighteenth century in American colonies, England and Western Europe. Proponents of enlightenment held that advances in industry and science announced progress for humankind and a new era of egalitarianism. Enlightenment literature writers were dedicated to the ideals of liberty, equality, and justice as the innate rights of a human being. On the other hand, writers during Puritanism had one goal to honor the Bible and God through their work. Puritan authors were rather religious, and they wrote their works in a way that was easier for people to understand and relevant for their everyday life. This essay uses the texts Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God by Jonathan Edwards and Voltaire’s Letters on the English to show how American literature has evolved since its inception.

Jonathan Edwards Purpose in Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God

In writing Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, Edwards’s purpose is to convince the readers to find salvation in Christ and repent their sins. Like other puritan literature, Edwards’s literature was direct and primarily focused on giving instructions based on a biblical point of view (Scanlan, 2019). Edwards delivered this famous sermon on July 8, 1741, in Connecticut. He delivered the sermon as a monologue to get rid of emotions in the speaker so that the words alone could speak to the listeners. Edwards’s sermon was renowned for the critical role it played in the Great awakening. He used a “hellfire and brimstone” tone which made many people think of him as a screamer in the pulpit which he was not. In his sermon, three themes stand out; that corrupt sinners will be judged, time is running short for sinners, and only God has the free choice to lengthen the day of mercy. Edwards uses metaphors to showcase how unbelieving human beings are in the text. He even describes the powerful and greatest rulers as grasshoppers and despicable and feeble worms. In Edwards’s viewpoint, a sinner is described as a loathsome insect like a spider which God is preparing to destroy with fire. Each of the metaphors used in the sermon reiterates how disgusting, weak and puny the sinner is before God’s eyes. In God’s eyes, there is simply no room for justification or pride. Essentially, sinners cannot be admired or respected; they have to be born again.

Voltaire’s Purpose in Letters on the English

Voltaire holds a special position in the world as a symbol of Enlightenment. He was a tremendously prolific writer who gained popularity for his acerbic wit and satires. Voltaire’s purpose for writing his works was to push for freedom of expression and religion and the separation of the state and the church. Worth noting, Voltaire drafted numerous attacks against the powerful French establishment and the Catholic Church. In his text, Letters on the English, Voltaire attacks the French government system, which was rapidly suppressed. Voltaire’s Letters on the English is a series of essays that he wrote based on his life experiences while living in England from 1726 and 1729. The first seven letters talk about religion. Voltaire wrote this text because England was the only place that had given him the freedom to publish his texts. It is where he learned to speak. Voltaire believed in the efficacy of reason above all. He strongly believed that the only way people could achieve social progress was through reason. He also opined that political reason, religious reason, or any other form of authority was immune to challenge. In his works, Voltaire strongly emphasized the importance of religious tolerance. In the first four letters, Voltaire talks about the Quakers’ beliefs, history, and customs. Voltaire appreciates the simplicity of the rituals practiced by Quakers. Particularly, Voltaire praises Quakers for their lack of communion, lack of baptism, and lack of priests (Van Engen, 2017). In the text, Voltaire writes, “we are not of the opinion that sprinkling water on a child’s head makes him a Christian.” Further, he writes, “How! No communion? said I” which implies they did not take the holy communion. As regards to lack of priests, Voltaire writes, “You have, then, no priests?’ said I to him. “No, no, friend,” replies the Quaker.” At the same time, Voltaire expresses concern for the manipulative character of organized religion. In the fifth letter, Voltaire compares Anglican religion to Catholicism. He writes, “With regard to the morals of the English clergy, they are more regular than those of France.” Notably, Voltaire criticizes how the Anglican religion has managed to stay true to the Catholic rituals.

Conclusion

In closing, Voltaire and Jonathan Edwards showcase how American literature has evolved during the literary movements of Puritanism and Enlightenment. While Edwards’s sole purpose of writing was to convince listeners to repent and turn away from sin, Voltaire wrote to push for freedom of expression and the separation of the state and church. The literature written during Puritanism was meant to cleanse the church and cut ties linking the Anglican Church to the Catholic Church. This literature impacted the lives of puritans by pushing them to live by a moral code. On the other hand, literature of the enlightenment period used biblical points of view to instruct believers into following Christ and repenting their sins.

Darwin’s concept of natural selection stated that, ancestral species are different from present day species but in accordance to evolution all life is related. Darwin based his biological evolution in that genes hold the most significant key to an organism relating to development behavior and growth. He based his theory on a sailing trip he ventured in where he found out that different species of finches had different types of beaks. His general observation was that phenotype characteristics will be passed on to next generation of organisms. He disregarded the basic concept of genetics but rather focused on the heredity concept (Nardo, 2001).

The theory of common descent has been widely accepted since scientists have verified and found the occurrence of evolution. Common descent shows that ancestral linkages are common in a group of species and have similar traits. Through anatomy structural features of animals and plants has shown evidence of common descent.DNA has been vital in explaining common descent as DNA sequence shows that mutation occurs in different organism.

This theory was not accepted by scientists because they believed traits from parent organism would be passed to their offspring’s, scientific advancement would later prove the theory (Nardo, 2001). It was acknowledged more than Natural selection which was based on heredity and scientist regarded it as a dangerous idea. It would later be known that Darwin had no evidence for natural selection he based his entire theory on a species of Finches and other imaginary animal and plant breeding.

His concept of descent with modification was more convincing since he presented variety of cases and observation that all reached a similar conclusion. The Conclusion being all species descended from existing species over a long time later to be known as biological evolution.

Charles Darwin had conceded that evolution would be explained by fossil records and how they change from one organism to another. Fossils are rare and are found in sedimentary rocks and are considered to evidence of evolution. Fossilization is the process by which organism body is made into fossils .Fossils is found when organisms die and decay and is hidden under sediments (Nardo, 2001). They need to be near water source for preservation or under sediment rocks so as to preserve the organism by building pressure on the rocks.

Radiometric dating is mainly done too much older fossils which are mainly found in igneous rocks .It is done by element which are slow to decay such as uranium and not radioactive carbon. Fossils hold the general concept of evolution as record indicates how species of plants and animals decayed long ago. Since hard elements of organisms are the major elements that are observed and found by scientist they hold the key to understanding a type of species.

Fossil generally interpret how life was and how certain types of animals became extinct and through dating it can be assessed when they existed. Radiometric dating enables us to know history of evolution on rocks and it fundamental in explaining evolution. Through relative dating we can determine which organisms are older than which ones (Nardo, 2001).

The law of supposition (known as relative dating) explains how young organisms are found on the surface while older organisms are buried deep within the rocks. Darwin’s theory would be interpreted and it would show that actual plants and animals could adapt, reproduce and grow with the same genes mutation as previous organisms with similar phenotypes. Radiometric dating is significant as it is easier to determine the smallest finding of an organism in a rock particle. Fossils show how life was the evidence of growth is written on the fossils found and how it built up over time.

Darwin’s principles of natural selection are based on the evolution of organisms and how they adapt to an environment. Their genetic characteristics and how the gradual process show biological traits that enable an organism to adapt to pressures of specific environments. Survival and reproduction and how the traits would be transited to the next generations are the sole purpose of evolution (Darwin, 2009). There are generally five principles of natural selection and they are based on Darwin evolution theory and scientists findings. This assumptions show how population variations are favorable to some and unfavorable to other because of the finite resources. The assumptions include, time, inheritance, differential survival and reproduction, variations and the struggle for existence.

Time indicates how a species will relate to a specific environment over time. Adapting to use the scarce resource and how they evolve to within a specific period of time. Inheritance of genes will help generations adapt to the environment. Parent traits which have been adapted will help organisms relate to the environment thus will be physically capable to withstand any conditions (Darwin, 2009). Variations that will help in reproduction will suit species best as parents pass down traits to offspring’s.

Variations can assist an organism to survive better in a specific environment. A stick insect will be hard to notice if it hangs on a branch. This adaptability trait is passed on as survival tactics from parents. Most animals can relate to an environment by color, shape and other physical attributes even humans have different complexions and survive with what they have. All individuals have different characteristics than others. The struggle for survival is prudent and organisms that are younger will survive better with the available resources since they will reproduce
